“Oni are creatures from Japanese folklore, variously translated as demons, devils, ogres or trolls. They are popular characters in Japanese art, literature and theatre.
Depictions of oni vary widely but usually portray them as hideous, gigantic, creatures with sharp claws, wild hair, and two long horns growing from their heads. They are humanoid for the most part, but occasionally, they are shown with unnatural features such as odd numbers of eyes or extra fingers and toes. Their skin may be any number of colors, but red and blue are particularly common.
They are often depicted wearing tiger-skin loincloths and carrying iron clubs, called kanabō. This image leads to the expression ‘oni with an iron club‘, that is, to be invincible or undefeatable. It can also be used in the sense of ‘strong beyond strong‘, or having one's natural quality enhanced or supplemented by the use of some tool.”
Hah! How ridiculous! Ogres. LB laughed to himself as he read from an article about Japanese demons on Wikipedia.

Kaname sighed to himself.
He was alone in his room, doing paperwork. The air had become a bit musty as the day wore on. Then, as if it were a sign, Kaname sneezed.
He sighed again, as he’d become accustomed to these days, and stood to open a window. You’d think that your allergies would act up with the window open (it being March and all), but for some reason, nearly all the furniture in the dorm was made of wood. The wood collected dust, and the dust then collected in the sensitive noses of Vampires, making everyone sneeze.
While gazing out the window at the Day Class, watching them do some sort of field project, Kaname heard the whinny of a horse in the distance. Not just any horse, but Lily, the Horse from Hell. Kaname found it ironic that animals couldn’t stand Vampires, but she adored the most insane Vampire on campus, and only he was able to ride her.
It was at that precise moment when Kaname decided to take a walk.
All that dust is getting to me, he thought, A little bit of fresh air would be nice. So he grabbed his uniform jacket and exited his room.

Kaname walked along the edge of the woods. Leaves from the previous fall still scurried around in the breeze and spun in circles all around him. He liked the smell of spring roses and fall leaves mixed together, they reminded him of his mother and father.
While indulging slightly in his memories, Kaname ventured partly in to the forest next to him. Next thing he knew, there was galloping and a flash of white zooming towards him. It was Lily, and a Zero-like shadow rode atop her bare, snow-white back. The horse whinnied angrily and stopped nearly twenty yards from Kaname, but Zero, hidden behind the horse’s broad head, failed to realize what was going on until it was too late.
The shadow was bucked high into the air and flew straight past Kaname with a girlish “Holy Shit!”, then it hit the walkway and bounced three times, like a stone on water, making painful sounds like “Oof!” or, “Ack!” And when Zero finally landed on his back he growled at Kaname.
But when Kaname got a look at the person lying in front of him he saw that it was, in fact, not Zero -Not even a boy for that matter. He delicately asked her if she was okay, as a true gentleman should. The girl stood up and brushed her dark blue uniform off. With a glare she asked Kaname if he was slow, in perfect English.
“Actually miss Katsuke, I have a constant 4.0. And may I say that it is your fault for riding Lily outside the fields.” She sighed as Kaname smiled innocently. Suddenly Kaname noticed something. “Wait a minute,” he said. Katsuke looked toward him with her brows raised in a ‘what?!’ expression. She looked different somehow, her eyes were…That’s it! Her eyes!
The right eyes was a muddy brown, but her right eyes was a smoldering yellow. Changing from golden brown to the color of sunlight in swirling patterns. Her eyes were like the wolf’s.
One blink and they were both brown again.
“What’s wrong? Is there something on my face?” She said with a knowing smirk.
Kaname closed his eyes and concentrated, not believing what he just saw. He really had to have that animal put down, and maybe then it wouldn’t plaque him night and day, or maybe there really was something wrong with the child…he sighed and asked her what she was doing riding Lily any way.
The sun started to sink into the horizon. “Um, I’d tell you, but it looks like it’s time for class exchange.” Kaname nodded.
“Tell me on the way then.”
“Curiosity killed the cat you know,” She smirked at Kaname.
“I know. But I’m not a cat.” It was his chance to smirk triumphantly.
“Then you must be a smart-ass.” Kaname reeled at the comment. He’d never been called such a thing to his face before. She pissed him off, but she must be either really daft or really daring to say something like that to a Pureblood.
So Kaname just smiled politely, “I am quite smart, thank you.” Katsuke snorted, “Whatever.”
So they walked toward the crowd of girls surrounding the Night Class dorms.

Zero sat underneath a tree next to a wide, dandelion infested field. Lily grazed on the little yellow weeds next to him.
He breathed out contentedly. It was a nice day, despite the sunlight, but that always bothered him. Puffy little clouds floated in the sky, like cotton on the bluest pond.
Then he heard music. From somewhere in the woods behind him, someone was playing guitar. Footsteps crunched over leaves and dirt and twigs as the neared his tree. Like magic, the girl from the ‘afternoon class’-as they’d been nicknamed- stepped up next to him and looked out at the field with a smile.
Zero grunted and she yelped.
He watched her as she jumped a foot into the air.
Turning slowly and trembling visibly, she faced Zero, large sienna eyes bugging out to near comical size. Upon seeing the miffed teenager she let out a breath. “You scared me for a minute there.” Zero just stared at her. Something was different about her eyes this time. They weren’t creepily innocent like they’d been when she spoke to Kaname, nor were they particularly dark. Eyes that spoke volumes of sadness, eyes that seemed centuries older than the body that wore them.
Zero had lost himself in her eyes. Katsuke cleared her throat and he looked up at her, startled.
“Aren’t you supposed to be in class, kid?” She smiled, but it seemed very sad.
“Who do you think you’re calling ‘kid’, kid?” Katsuke chuckled lightly and shrugged with a goofy expression. “Got me there.” Zero’s gaze drifted down to the instrument in her hand. Then back to her eyes. “You play?” He said. The small girl smiled and nodded, “Yeah, I do. Why? Don’t tell me you want a song?” She eyed him playfully.
As much as Zero would have liked to respond with his usual banter, he couldn’t. Something was off about her. She seemed...different from before. Not just her eyes, but her body seemed frailer, less young. Her voice was also sad, like a wolf’s lament. She seemed dead.
“As a matter of fact, young miss, I would. If I had the time, I would’ve learned to play myself.”
“I could teach you, if you like.” She tried to take a step closer to Zero, but Lily reared her large white head and stared her down. Katsuke was frozen in place, but not in fear; She’d never seen such a beautiful creature.
Zero looked up at his big, white brute. “Ah her? She’s fine as long as you don’t try to touch her.” Katsuke swallowed, “She’s so…beautiful.” Zero smirked. “Maybe if you play a song she’ll let you ride her?”
Katsuke looked down at him, laughing. “Okay mister, you’re on.” She sat cross-legged in the grass next to him. “Any requests?”
“Sing to me in English. A song by your favorite band.”
“How do you know my favorite band sings in English?”
“Wild guess. Just sing already!”
“Fine fine,” she huffed and toyed with her strings for a minute. Then she started to play a melody, fingers stretching and curling around the strings, making them vibrate soft tunes. The expression on her face made her look blissfully unaware of the universe. Like it was just her and the guitar.
Waking up I see that everything is okay
The first time in my life and now it's so great
Slowing down I look around and I am so amazed
I think about the little things that make life great
Zero wasn’t aware of her singing until the she glanced up at him on the second stanza.
I wouldn't change a thing about it
This is the best feelingThis innocence is brilliant, I hope that it will stay
This moment is perfect, please don't go awayI need you now
And I'll hold on to it, don't you let it pass you by
I found a place so safe, not a single tear
The first time in my life and now it's so clear
Feel calm I belong, I'm so happy here
It's so strong and now I let myself be sincere
I wouldn't change a thing about itThis is the best feeling
Her voice echoed across the grassy field before them. Lily neighed contentedly. Zero watched her, listening to the lyrics. How innocent is she I wonder? After all, it wasn’t really natural for a young girl to be singing about her innocence.
This innocence is brilliant, I hope that it will stay
This moment is perfect, please don't go away
I need you nowAnd I'll hold on to it, don't you let it pass you by
It's the state of bliss you think you're dreaming
It's the happiness inside that you're feeling
It's so beautiful, it makes you wanna cry
It's the state of bliss you think you're dreaming
It's the happiness inside that you're feeling
It's so beautiful, it makes you wanna cry
It's so beautiful, it makes you want to cry
This innocence is brilliant, it makes you want to cry
This innocence is brilliant, please don't go away
'Cause I need you nowAnd I'll hold on to it, don't you let it pass you by
Katsuke really seemed to be into her song by the last stanza. Slender fingers curling around guitar strings, the brown hunk of wood humming gently.
This innocence is brilliant, it's so beautiful, it's so beautiful
This moment is perfect, please don't go away
I need you now, it makes me want to cry
And I'll hold on to it, don't you let it pass you by
Smiling as the song ended, she looked up at him. During the last sentence her voice became somewhat stiff, if not angry. Katsuke looked at him and Zero saw no sadness, no signs of remorse, only darkness. A flare of anger flared behind dilated pupils.
“Um, Zero-kun? Is it possible that I could ride Lily right now?” Lily snorted and glared at the girl. She sensed that something changed, but when Katsuke looked up at her, the horse froze. “Back in America I lived on a Native American reservation. I’m very skilled with riding the stubborn ones.” She smirked and goose bumps rippled across Zero’s skin. He didn’t like her at all. A quick way to get rid of her…quick.. Zero had an idea.
“Sure, just don’t ride her onto school grounds,” He stood and grabbed her shiny guitar. “Don’t want this to get broken.” She smirked and sent a cold shiver down his spine. “Keep it,” she said and jumped on Lily’s back. The horse began to neigh in protest, but Katsuke kicked her hard in the side.
They sped off…
Zero watched the flash of white fade into the woods. That girl was bad news…
He walked off to go find somewhere else to nap. Overhead a large bird passed over the campus, its shadow falling over the land like a dragon.

Whew! ^^; sorry for the long intervals, I’ve been real busy (eating candy and getting horribly sick) so I couldn’t finish writing this chapter. Again, sorry, but I have also been piecing the story together. Unlike lots of other writers I make things up as I go along.
Anyways thank you for reading and I’ll try my best to post the next chapter soon.
And for future reference, this story may get a little graphic and all. I mean, I like vampires and stuff, but I really prefer gory monster type things, hence the demons.
I have to go now, bye! Reviews plz! They encourage me :3
