So I love doing these and figured it'd be a great way to get back into FanFic. Although I don't actually guarantee anything.
Some of these turned out very, very weird, but these are all songs on my Sophomore Year Playlist. (But if you're looking for song suggestions, all I've been listening to lately is the Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack.)
The Shuffle Challenge
Here is what to do:
1) Choose a specific pairing/fandom/etc as your topic.
2) Put your iPod/Media Player/CD/iPhone on shuffle.
3) As each song starts, write the title of the song and the singer/band,
and then begin writing about your subject. You only have the length of
the song to finish, though. Once the song ends, so do you. No exceptions.
4) Most importantly, HAVE FUN!
Here's the Shuffle Challenge, take two.
I love you so.
Song: In My Life
Artist: The Beatles
There was something comforting Cam found about The Beatles.
They weren't too fast, and they weren't too slow. They were perfect, they were peaceful. They didn't say what the crowd was shouting; they captured what was in his very heart. The Beatles were the very essence of his childhood.
But somewhere along the way, he traded his Abbey Road CD for an iPod full of Strokes songs, and it wasn't until he heard that one particular song by John, Paul, George, and Ringo that he thought of that one girl, that pristine smile, those glowing eyes, and her little dog, too.
Song: I Gotta Feeling
Artist: Black Eyed Peas
Alicia Rivera had a sub-par high school experience.
College, however, was another story.
Her roommate couldn't have cared less about how she looked. The guys actually looked her in the eye, not the chest. So maybe getting up in time for class was hard and the food sucked and the professors were more than tough on her, but the lure of a perfect Friday night kept her going.
She'd been grinding on a sofa in the ZTA's sorority house when she looked across the room and met a pair of eyes that were just as deep and brown as her own.
That night was a good, good night. And she did indeed live it up.
Song: Lying is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off
Artist: Panic! At the Disco
She didn't want to do it.
But if she didn't take off her dress, if she didn't climb into bed with Dempsey Solomon, if she didn't submit, who knew what would happen? Claire Lyons would go from angelic, straight-A, all-around good girl to nothing but a common gutter rat.
After all, Dempsey kept her secret. If she dated him, nobody would know that she was on scholarship at the pretentious Octavian County Day. Nobody would notice that she only owned three different outfits because he bought new ones for her. Nobody would beat up Todd because Dempsey would intervene on every fight.
All it took was a few sweaty minutes in bed, and she was safe.
Song: In My Heart
Artist: My Favorite Highway
She'd always watched him from afar.
At first, he was just the cute, older boy in her gym class.
Then, he was the cute, older, annoying boy in her gym class.
He wouldn't leave her alone.
When he moved into soccer next semester, she was grateful.
Until she started to miss his teasing. And his flirting. And that goofy smile on his lightly freckled face. And that mop of messy black hair and those sky-blue eyes.
She continued to watch him from afar.
She faded to the back of Landon Crane's mind.
Massie Block always held him in her heart.
Song: Very Busy People
Artist: The Limousines
Derrick and Kristen were inseparable.
They'd never really been popular, but that had never mattered to them. All they needed was a well-stocked iTouch and a booth in the Mellow Mushroom pizza parlour and they could entertain themselves for hours.
Sometimes they would start on a pizza-and-beer binge on Friday and wake up on Sunday not quite knowing how they got there.
Sometimes they had Algebra homework and they knew, they knew how easy it was, but they still blew it off.
Sometimes they spent the night at each other's houses.
And sometimes, they just popped in Donnie Darko and they didn't need anything else. Besides, they already had each other.
Song: All is Love
Artist: Karen O and the Kids
Sometimes, being a kid was hard. Scary, even.
There were all those images on the TV, those bright colours and loud sounds, and they never made sense but he loved them anyways.
There were lots of kids at school, but he was always too shy to approach them. All the girls were really weird anyway and screamed anytime a boy got within two feet of them.
There were also times where he would feel so angry and confused and wouldn't know how he got there. He'd just throw his stuffed animals and Tonka trucks at his crib until everything made sense again.
But after school, Dylan was always there. And Dylan, with her soft red hair and her bright green eyes, would always scoop him up in the biggest of hugs and remind little Todd that all was love.
Song: My Junk
Artist: Spring Awakening Cast
Allie-Rose could stay in her bed for hours. It was usually Chris Plovert who entered her dreams.
She painted a thousand and one little scenes that involved the two of them. Sometimes they were dancing close at the annual OCD Benefit. Other times they were rolling around in the snow. And it was always so, so easy to picture his lips on hers.
But most of the time, she dwelled on the one picture in her mind that was actually real: the two of them at Massie Block's Halloween party, huddled together and hugging for warmth behind the DJ booth, feeling their hearts beat in sync to the pounding of the music.
Song: Stella
Artist: All Time Low
Layne had doubts about this new school of hers.
When she entered White Plains High, the local public high school, people seemed to warm up to her immediately.
Nobody made fun of her outfits or sneered at her love of musicals. In fact, they embraced it.
She actually got invited to parties. She started trends. Layne Abeley was actually popular.
But through it all, Layne doubted the public school kids. She knew they weren't going to lead her anywhere pleasant. And she was damn right not to trust them.
