Don’t own Pokemon.

What else is there to say about him? He was a rude, spoiled rich boy who loved to get her attention by an irritable comment that provoked her to get heated up at the slightest moment. She hated that way he would infamously flick his hair out of his emerald orbs called eyes, and hell, was he something! He would even get women that were much older than him tremble to the floor because of his astonishing good looks. May, however, could think otherwise. Andrew Cornelius Hayden – or better known as Drew, was nothing but a distasteful rival especially when it came to contests. And of course, as teenagers were, they were competitive to just about anything else. Being 14 didn’t mean anything. They were still a tad bit immature.

There were times when they would get along, but only for a short amount of time. Drew couldn’t help opening his big mouth and say at least one very…snobbish comment. Yep. Another fight, teenagers, go figure! There were days when Drew would decide to be a gentleman for a day and take May out to dinner or so after a contest or after a fight to cool themselves down. Even though, things didn’t go very well as planned. Once again, Drew opened his big mouth and said:

“May, how much could you even eat? You’re even fatter than you were last year!”

And you guessed it. There was yet another quarrel. They fought so much that day, they were thrown out of the restaurant as the chef yelled “And don’t come here again until you’ve actually decided to get along with the girl, Hayden!” You could plainly tell that this chef had a strong disliking towards the guy, and apparently, so did May. Or at least, that’s what she thought.

Their ‘relationship’ was well known across the Kanto, Johto, and (especially) the Hoenn regions. Being the famous coordinators,, they just can’t seem to get more competitive than they already are. Hey! They could even fight over one mere penny if they were that desperate! Who knows what the two could do if they keep this form of a rivalry relationship up. Even Solidad and Harley can’t keep up with them anymore! Not even Ash, Brock, Dawn, Misty, and even Max…

Even though it seemed greatly impossible for them to ever get along, perhaps they were the ones who could try and change their relationship. Technically, Drew was the one who began this whole rivalry thing since their first meeting in Slateport. Ah, good times, good times…or maybe not.

Presently, they were leaning against the tree near a lake. May was deliberately avoiding Drew’s gaze. Clearly, they were bored, trying to think of something to entertain them. But what? Drew’s insults have already gotten old – and so has the fighting, even! What could they do? They weren’t a couple or anything. (Even though they were repeatedly mistaken for one, hence for the fact that Harley has snapped a photo not too long ago with Drew handing a rose to May after her last win in the Goldenrod Contest.) Drew’s eyes were still averted to May’s direction, left of him. He watched her pick at the grass while Blaziken was leaning against the back of the tree, watching her as well. Flygon was whirling around the area they were in, trying to keep himself from going crazy because of the boredom. Drew, with an exaggerated sigh, turned over to May in defeat. He couldn’t handle her ‘silent treatment’ any longer.

“Come on, May! Aren’t you at least going to say something to me?” Drew slightly yelled, catching May’s attention.

“Actually, I was kind of hoping that you would say something…”

They sighed together.

“I guess, things are starting to get a little…boring…” Drew said, slouching further to the ground. “I have to admit, even contests are starting to get boring now.”

“Sorry I couldn’t make things more interesting for you…” May whispered, lowering her head a little.

“Hey, I…” Drew started, “I didn’t mean it like that.”

“Really?” She challenged, not sure whether or not she was going to believe him.

“Uh, well…” Drew scratched the back of his neck nervously before thinking of a different subject. “I have an idea, why don’t you and I…” He took a quick look at Flygon, who was still hovering above them, before looking back down at her. “We could go for a ride on Flygon, only if you want to…”

Her eyes lit up just a tad and Drew noticed a small twinkle in them. “I’d like that.” She returned Blaziken to her pokeball and stood up along with him.

Before they knew it, Flygon had already dived in and picked them off the ground, soon gliding across the sky gracefully. Drew was right in front of May as they rested on Flygon’s back, enjoying the flight. May had looked towards the ground while she placed her hands on her lap. She fiddled with her fingers for a while… “D-Drew, I was just wondering...we’ve known each other for a long time and...”

“And?” He repeated, turning a bit to face her with a somewhat serious look on his face. It was hard to keep the green locks from getting into his eyes and he tried his hardest to ignore it.

“I want you t-to know that I…” She paused, unsure of whether or not she should say it or not.

“Well?”

“I, um…I realize we haven’t gotten to a very good relationship through the years but, I…” She was beginning to shake and Drew cocked an eyebrow before gesturing her to continue. He began to scoot closer to her…

Her face quickly grew to crimson as she felt hot breath next to her shoulder. Tingling sensations ran up her spine as his fingers lightly traced the side of her cheek before he whispered, “Aren’t you going to spit it out, May?” His lips were looming near hers as he smirked in satisfaction. Her face was…was priceless!

Obviously, he was just teasing her. Or was he? Drew leaned in closer, still unaware of how close the ‘couple’ were…sniggering was heard from Flygon and he immediately commanded it to keep quiet.

“Listen, May.” He said huskily, his lips barely touching her ear. “I’m really not that hard to talk to.”

“Oh? Then why do you m-make it hard for me?” She strained, leaning back a little.

“How am I making it hard?” He pouted ever so innocently, giving a little puppy face, while at the same time, May noticed Drew fighting off a smirk that was playing on his trembling lips.

“With what you’re doing right now!” She almost wailed out, giving a “humph” before turning around with her arms crossed over her chest, with her face still Tamato Berry red.

“Ah, I already know what you’re going to say anyways.”

“Then what was I going to say?”

“You were going to say – Oh! You’re such a green midget! Or…you could blend right into a garden! Maybe even, oh my God, Drew, you’re such a bi-polar bastard!” Yep. There it was, the smirk he tried to fight off had won. And oh what a surprise, the infamous hair flick! What next? Is he going to kiss her?

May looked up to him with a piercing glare. “Excuuuuuuuuuuuse me?! I thought you were going to be nice for once and actually let me say what I want to say. And FYI, Drew, I wasn’t going to say something like that – in fact I was going to say that I think I-“

Whoop. Too late, my friend. His lips silenced her for a while. Her voice that was muffled between the two tongues were nothing but protests, and Drew refused to let her go until he was out of breath. Once again, this left a sniggering Flygon as the two continued to kiss.

Finally out of breath, Drew released her, leaving a relieved smile on May’s face as she gasped for breath. “Wh-what was that for?!” Obviously, her smile turned into an angry May. Oh joy!

“What? You were going to say you love me, right? What better way to say that then to kiss me! Of course, many girls would want to, and you were the lucky one.” The same, satisfied smirk still remained on his lips that kept May irritated.

“Oh, don’t flatter yourself,” She spat. “You ungrateful, spoiled rich pretty boy!”

“You ditzy, dense and clueless klutz!”

“Y-you deranged bastard!”

“You deranged bitch!”

And with that, they huffed and turned around with angry faces, not realizing that Drew’s hand was on top of May’s…

They quickly turned around, shooting death glares at each other before they noticed the situation and immediately withdrew their hands and stared at each other with a slight blush on their cheeks. Drew coughed.

“So…”

“Uh…”

Suddenly, the two burst out laughing for one brief second before staring into each other’s sapphire and emerald orbs. “So, does this mean…” May started.

Drew smirked and gave a long peck on the lips. “Shut up.”

A/N: Hmm, I guess you could say this is my first time doing a drabble…actually, it’s my second with this couple! Eh, they may have been a little out of character, but that doesn’t really matter. Drew is how he is after all – and same with May! Where I got this idea? I’ll never know. I just imagined them flying on his Flygon and fighting over something, so I decided to think of a plot to write it out with. Oh! And for all who want to know, I have a deviantART account. Puh-leeze add me! Samia-chan. That’s my name! :D
