Tactics

Spetrus, Reglate and Ayrya left Farans house, in good time to watch the sun dawn. But there was work to be done if they would finish their grim task before sun rise.

First of all Tolbi had a night out ban policy in Lavliero. The soldiers of Tolbi had the right to kill anyone they found outside in Lavliero after sun dawn. There for the soldiers started clearing the street at eight. Since they official didn’t want to kill anyone.

Do they have the right to kill me, I have the right to kill them.

They walked quickly to the inn. Galor had locked himself onto the room and didn’t open until he heard Reglate speak the password.

The password was. “Dragons in heart and mind rise”

"Galor get your weapons ready we got work to do. Spetrus lock the door."

The Proxian warrior was already wearing his armour and weapons like he had done the entire time of their journey. Reglate believed Galor was paranoid, since he only drank from his own bottle. That didn’t quite make sense since no one would gain anything on poisoning him. Galor was really annoying then he tried to taste Reglates food before him.

Mars I hope I never gets paranoid enough to make others eat my taste my food before me.

"My fellow Proxians to day we will fight for this cities freedom." Not exactly what they were here for but that didn’t matter at the moment.

"Tolbi believe they can spread their corruption everywhere. Today we show them that fire purge corruption."

Tolbi was indeed the most corrupt nation in the world. Most of the people cheated on their taxes, Lodem kept his power with pure military power.

"Tolbi is the infection in Lavlieros wound. We burn it now and we burn it for good. Its time to show the world what the fires of the north are capable of."

The Proxian raised their right arms in a salute. The salute was a also a way to greet a Superior in the party.

"Spetrus tell me about the Tolbian quarters. Galor write down what i just said. Ayrya fetch me my weapons."

Galor had a really good hand style and Reglate was practicing on inspiration speeches. This one had been quite good he thought. He were also to lazy to go and pick up his two short swords.

Spetrus would know what details of the Tolbian barracks Reglate would want to have. Since him, Galor and Degatio had taken quite a look on the city.

Ayrya was probably angry at him for giving her a service job, but that didn’t matter. Cause he were to lazy to go and pick up his two short swords.

"The quarters are surrounded by a wooden wall, easy to burn up. The wall is not patrolled however the Tolbians have build up four towers where they can overlook all of Lavliero."

"How many of the Tolbians do you believe spends the night inside their quarters?" It would be best if they could take out all of the Tolbians with one freak fire.

Would make us more popular here to. Dammit I don’t care if we are popular.

"I believe that no soldier has the ability to spend a night somewhere else. They aren’t popular here not even among the hookers. I would guess that at least four hundred of them sleep in those quarters, probably more."

"So you’re telling me that here is a chance that we have to deal with dozens of Tolbian elite warriors before reaching there quarters." It would be more or less embarrassing for Reglate if he were killed by a Tolbian guard who thought he was a revolting Lavilerian. What would he say to his ancestors? At that moment he felt shame for his childish thoughts. He was the heir of dragons; he weren’t going to die against a Tolbian.

"Probly, but don’t worry. They will taken out of the woods before you even notice they are there."

Spetrus smiled and glared at his dagger. How many creatures had underestimated him and paid with there life for it. He had forgotten. Spetrus had been a close friend of Saturos before he left Prox for the first time. Their friendship had ended then Spetrus didn’t follow Saturos first raiding party to Vale. Spetrus had since that day always felt guilt. Not for the loss life’s of those who followed Saturos but for the lost of his best friend. Spetrus weren’t the type who had lots of friends so each friend he had was a special one. When he heard about Saturos and Menardis death he feels into deep depression. He had joined Reglates party as a way to honour his fallen comrade.

Spetrus had learned Saturos, Menardi, Agatio and Karst their deadliest tricks. He had quit his teaching after words that Karst and Agatio had been beaten on Jupiter lighthouse. If his teachings didn’t save the lives of those he teaches he had failed them. His teaching ways was also getting quite old in those days; Proxian parents wouldn’t want a teacher that beat up their children. The only one he had trained in those five years since the lighting of Mars lighthouse were Reglate. Reglate had shown to have potential. He was not a prodigy, but he was above average. He had in those five years learnt to master the greatest abilities of fire, Spetrus had began to teach him Jupiter and Venus abilities.

"You named it. How are the barracks? Also made of wood?"

"We weren’t exactly able to get inside the Tolbian quarter, it’s next to the main market in this town so its well guarded. But I believe that only the officers sleep inside the only stone house inside."

Classic human military ways, officers cares only about them selves and leave those who fight for them outside in the cold.

"We got quite a advantage then. You believe that we have the power to grind the stone house into dust?" Reglate wanted to crush those men who stood in his way. He would crush them like a enraged kid crushes ants.

"To be honest no, but we can collapse it by using simple logics." Spetrus looked ironic as always but he was still serious.

"You mean we break the pillars that hold it up?"

"Exactly, a well aimed beam or a volcano could break the pillars."

"Or we had a Venus adept that could just use earthquake to crash down the building and use growth to help me plant flowers." Reglate sometimes wished he were a Venus adept. Not for the flowers but for the healing and the best town destroying abilities where Venus.

"Find yourself a Venus djinn and do it yourself?" There were no Djinns to be found Isaac and co got them all.

"I don’t keep cats." Reglate had seen Venus djinn in Prox once. He had laughed at it so hard that it decided to beat him up. Instead Degatio appeared and they managed to borrow the Venus Djinni in snow. They had not been happy then they found out that Felix and co had freed their prisoner.

"Suite yourself. But back to focus, I sense the power of the Venus beacon inside me it empowers me right now. Do you feel it?"

”As a matter of fact I do."

"Good that means we don’t have to worry about our psyenergy powers running low."

The light house beacons had grown within those years it had been light. In Prox there Psyenergy were unlimited and they feared nothing. If they got too close to Mercury lighthouse they would probly be out of psyenergy in an hour. In the following hour they would lose their natural protection against cold. Feeling the cold for the first time would probably knock must Proxian out. With no healers in sight must of them would lie there and freeze to death. There was no way they could be a serious threat against Iml.

"Reglate!!" Ayryas yell was high in a high octave. It was most likely that the entire inn heard her. Reglate and Spetrus had whispered the entire time; it would be annoying if the innkeeper made a visit.

"What?" Reglate whispered back with restrained rage.

"Think fast" Ayrya throwed One of Reglates short swords against him. He was far from prepared for it. The blade hit him hard in the nose. The power of the throw was enough to make him fall on the floor. Reglate were bleeding out of his nose and it took him a long time to get up. Galor had grabbed Ayrya and put her down to the floor. She hit the floor hard and began to laugh. Spetrus slapped him self hard in the head with his dagger.

We got to be one of a kind

Reglate rose up and said with a voice of authority ”For Mars sake lets focus on our task"

Ayrya still pressed down on the floor by Galor whispered with a soft voice "Cute then mad."

Reglate signalled with his fingers that Galor should let go of Ayrya. It was embarrassing for Galor. He had assaulted a member of the ruling family in Prox. Worse yet was that he had no reason at all to do it. If it would go to court he was in quite a trouble.

"Okay here is the battle plan. In three hours we will go to the street in the cower of the night we will make our way to the Tolbian quarter. We will break the gate and enter the fray." The other Proxians had gathered around him. They waited for the time to kill as much as he did.

Like wolves we Proxians prey upon lesser creatures.

"We will realise wave after wave of fire on the soldier’s quarter. I will focus on destroying the four towers around the quarter. Spetrus and I will make our way to the officer’s quarters, hopefully we have set every building on fire then."

Reglate had three pairs of red eyes starring at him. Trying to see any holes in his plan or just to see if he showed any weakness. Reglate were sure there were none.

"Ayrya and Galor will then set the tree wall surrounding us on fire. After that’s done you will both fall back and defend the entrance from escaping Tolbians and keeping it open for us."

Reglate grinned; he wondered how effective Galor and Ayrya would work together. They had barely talked on their trip and rarely worked tougher. Galor hated Ayryas soft thinking and wicked acting. Ayrya however believed that Galor was far too overprotective and old fashioned ways. Reglate regret sending Degatio back to the ship. Degatio would have loved this kind of work. If Degatio were here he could have sent him and Galor Guarding the gate. They worked well tougher as long as the object were to break as many bones as possible.

"Are there any questions?" Reglate just wanted to make sure that he had not forgotten any important details. It may not have been the most enlightening mission brief, but he believed everyone’s duty were clear.

"Will you marry me?" Ayrya asked with an unserious and bored voice. A great way to make everyone lose their focus. Galor banged his head against the wall. Spetrus smiled a amused smile. He believed nothing was as amusing as the love between to young Proxian warriors. He had seen the same scenes repeating in every generation.

"Yes now leave me alone" Reglate liked the thought of marrying Ayrya. It would give him both a strong reputation in Prox as well as breaking Down Puelle and the Elders party. But there was something else for him in the

Reglate never thought waiting could be so hard. This was the first time he knew he were going into a battle. He had fought many sea monsters but they had always been the ones planning the attack. Now then he for the first time had planned a attack he were about to freak out. He feared for his own life, he feared for the rests life specially Ayrya.

Sometimes knowledge is a pain. A unbeatable pain.

Reglates tried to think of something else then the upcoming battle. But ultimately it were nothing else to really think of. Had his mother and father knew that they would die upon the lighthouse? Would he be here if they had survived? He doubted it, what reason would he have to be here if they had returned to Prox? Maybe to pay a visit to those that his parents had killed during their rampage.

Reglate had always seen his parents as people to resort to violence quite easy, but rarely damaged someone seriously. He had seen both of them fought in tournaments; they had always been the first to check if their opponent were injured. Were had fairness getting them in this world. Straight to the bottom of the ocean. Reglate veins pumped with rage. His arms began to shake as he grabbed his sword. He weren’t going to set her and do nothing. Their bodies lay and rotten in the ocean even as he spoke.

"Arm yourself we are leaving." It was barley dark outside and he night ban had just started. It were quite possible that must Tolbians weren’t in their beds.

"With all due respect sir its still to early." It was Galor and his annoying ass licking. No they were going now and they were going to destroy the Tolbians.

"Arm yourself warrior or I let Spetrus break your bones." Spetrus stood no chance in actually breaking a bone even with a saw. But Galors honour code would permit him from do anything against those he had sworn loyalty to. This honour code practically allowed Reglate to rule his life.

Reglate had been wearing his armour the entire trip and only had to go and get his helmet. He had designed his own helmet. It was a pure grey helmet made out of iron. The helmet covered all of his face expect to big holes showing his red eyes. It looked much like a theatre mask, but it had a stench of evil over it.

Spetrus and Galor were already at the door both full equipped. Spetrus didn’t wear armour instead he wore full black clothes. He had pulled a hood over his bold head. Galor a full set of knight armour, He had however not a helmet on his head. He had so long hair that it would be quite annoying. Thankfully he had pure dark hair which was hard to spot in the dark. Galor carried a long sword in his left hand and a huge shield in the other.

Ayrya were still busy trying to pointing on her helmet. It was of the same type as Reglates but with a hole for the hair. It took awfully long time and Galor began to stomp his feet. She had been waiting impatiently before like Reglate, but now she was shaking. She finally got her helmet on her and reunited with the rest of them.

The innkeeper didn’t like the thought of anyone leaving her inn after the night ban had entered. Therefore she always locked the door before she went to bed. The proxians spent some irritated seconds at the door. Galor broke through the door with a shoulder charge. The door was smashed upon the ground and caused a high sound. Spetrus asked the rest to follow him.

They run as fast and silent they could. There were a few Tolbian squads watching the street but they had the luck to avoid them. Within a moment that luck changed.

"Dowson here is something!" A Tolbian squad arrived right in front of them. Ayrya and Spetrus were quick to hid in the corners of the street, but the Tolbians had already spotted Reglate and Galor. The Tolbian squad was armed with torches and shields. Reglates group didn’t need fire to see in the dark night. Proxian could see perfectly even in the darkest room. Galor and Reglate stood ready with their weapons as five Tolbian soldiers started to move towards them.

"Lay down your weapons and or we will resort to violence." It was a middle age warrior who spoke, he wore no helmet. On his chest he had a badge saying Lieutenant Dowson "Night hunter".

Galor dropped his sword on the ground and started to move towards the Tolbian. Dowson raised his torch as the Proxian got awfully close to him. Now Dowson realised his mistake as he saw the face of his foes. Galor moved quickly and his iron covered fist hit Dowsons exposed nose. Dowson flow back on the ground with blood running out of his nose.

Galor had a huge power in his stun muscle, especially then he wore iron gloves. Few had risen up from such a blow and even fewer had been in shape to fight afterwards.

The other Tolbians reacted as shot through cannon. They throwed their torches away and drove their swords. They charged towards Galor who prepared to block their attacks with his shield. Reglate weren’t going to let Galor do all the fighting. He charged towards a charging Tolbian. The darksword found its foes arm it pierced the Tolbian armour and a shoulder lost its arms. The warrior fell on the ground screaming and another Tolbian turned around to face Reglate.

He never got the chance. Spetrus jumped out of the shadows behind the warrior. Spetrus cursed dagger pierced the tolbians throat and he dropped dead on the ground. A gurgling sound left the soldiers mouth as he lay on the ground. One of the two remaining warriors turned around and run for his life. He screams like a frightened pig. He did not got too far. Ayrya appeared right in front of him and raised her scythe. Reglate had never seen anything as scary and as beautiful as then the young proxian girl decapitated the crying Tolbian warriors head.

The screen would return to both Ayrya and Reglate in both light and dark moments. The headless body falling to the ground as a falling statue, Slow and soulless. The head caught their attention a lot more. Its mouth was open in a scream. Tears dropped from its eyes. The blood running out of the throat, like an endless river. It span around in the air until it fell dead on the ground.

How impressive the scene was for them they both knew that they had to focus on the relavant things.

Reglate turned around to his first victim to see that it were already dead. The poison on the darksword had spread fast in its veins giving it a rather fast death. The last warrior swung his sword desperately at Galors shield. He just swung the blade the same way all the time. Galor had no problem at all blocking the desperate mans attacks. Ayrya were the one to finish him, she called upon the angel of death to take his soul. It did and the Tolbian just dropped dead in a blow. His body would show no sign of injury or any other death cause. It would be a medical wonder that he had died.

"Come on we have to keep moving. This will alert more of those basterds." It was Spetrus who took command now. He were the oldest and by far most experienced. Reglate and Ayrya were still shocked over their first kill. Galor had went back to pick up his sword.

As much as Reglate had loved to celebrate their victory he knew that they needed to keep moving. He had about four hundreds of those left to kill tonight. Reglate realised that he actually didn’t enjoy the thought, but it didn’t matter right now.

The Proxian started to run as fast as possible to the Tolbian quarter. The screams of the Tolbians had been loud enough to wake a bear in winter sleep. They needed to reach their destination as fast as possible.

Behind them were only blood and five broken bodies.

One body suddenly started to move. It struggle to get up some times but then it finally rose up. The human were shaking terribly and blood dropped out if the broken nose. He saw the bodies and commotion all around him. He was surrender by his squad’s broken bodies. From nearby houses the citizens of the town started to run out to see what had happen.

Dammit Sol this will make them riot. The Tolbian realised that if the Lavlierns started their riot today he would be chanceless. He were already mortally injured so and his squad were in pieces.

Dowson weren’t the man that accepted his death. He merely cared that his squad were no more. All his thoughts were focused on getting out of this mess alive. He run desperately towards the town gate then he realised all he needed to do to fade away was taking of all his armour. With some luck no one would recognise him. They would perhaps treat his injury.

He was no longer Dowson the Night hunter. He were no longer the colossus fighter who had lost because of a loose shoe rope. He were actually no one with. That was last thing Dowson thought before he passed out.

I think the dead wouldnt mind staying dead
