Innocence Cast Away

There is a spot upon my hand
Bloody spot, won’t come out.
I wash and wash and
It won’t come out.
Damned hand.

There is a crease upon my brow
Deep furrow, won’t come out.
I smile still it will grow
It won’t come out.
Damned brow.

There is a stain upon my bed
Tearing stain, won’t come out.
I clean until my hands are dead
It won’t come out.
Damned bed.

There is a time within my memory
I killed a man for all to see
He was my family’s enemy
Cloaked in darkness, don’t you see?
He was far more evil than me

I had to kill him, you see
For if I did not, Foot would kill thee
Yet no one had told me
That for this killing I would slay
The innocence within I had kept at bay
That day I watched innocence sail away

Damned me.
