Needing Relief

Pretty, popular, perfect—that’s what they call her.

Everyone knew Claire Standish was the princess of the school. Why else wouldn’t they worship her?

Of course, the only few that knew of the sickening truth of her fake front involved the bunch she had morning Saturday detention with. They knew of the truth and the criminal of the school, John Bender, used it to his advantage. At least, that’s what Claire thought. Every time she spotted him at school, he comfortably ignored her.

It went on for a while and after several paranoid incidents; she had enough. She was tired of being worried he might sell her out to her peers. In fact, it kind of offended her that he didn’t give her the type of attention she thought he would give her.

Then one day, in the lunchroom, Claire marched over and kissed John Bender. Relief swept through her.
