Disclaimer: Although I wish I did own Reaper, I don’t.

I bit down on my lip hard and took a long, deep breath through my nose; letting myself feel my chest rise and fall. Just do it, and get it over with, I told myself again, feeling uneasy.

“It’s now or never, Andi. I want to go home and actually have some sleep for once,” Gladys said to me irritably, she had her arms crossed out in front of her chest. I glanced over at her; as usual, she looked overly tired and irritated.

Nodding, I answered, “Okay, lets just get this over with.”

Gladys grunted dramatically, then opened the vessel tube like she would normally do if Sam were to drop one off. Instead of putting a vessel down it however, she pulled out a long red slip of paper from her right, and wrote something at the bottom of it and stuffed it into the tube.

“You should expect for him to show up in one to two business days,” Gladys told me, shot the tube back down into the counter, then pushed the black mat back over it.

A gave her a small smile. “Thanks,” I told her, then walked out of the DMV.

Calm down, I told myself and took another deep breath as I walked through the parking lot, and to my car. It’s not as if he’s going to show up immediately. Just take another deep breath and relax, I reasoned with myself. It didn’t work though, because my anticipation and nervousness started to grow more rapidly as I finally got to my car, opened its driver’s side door, and sat down in it.

Just think of something else right now, I came up with, and turned on the car, and in a sense the radio. It came up to the song One Last Breath by Creed, which didn’t really help the mood I was in. So, I changed it to some other station that was playing an older Paramore song.

I looked at my rear view mirror, backed out of the parking spot I was in, left the DMV parking lot and started driving on a smaller road. I turned up the music slightly after a few minutes of driving, hoping it would help drive out some of my stray thoughts, which it did.

“Wow, this is a pretty good song for a 21st century group,” I heard a man’s voice say from the passenger’s seat. I looked over at him just long enough to get the gist of what he looked like. Short, very tan,and had black hair with some gray spots. I knew for a fact that I would have heard, or at least felt if he came from the back seat, and he definitely wasn’t sitting beside me when I first entered the car.

“I thought you wouldn’t show up for another two days,” I said to him, figuring what the only other explanation was.

I noticed the Devil grin from the corner of my eye. “That’s on normal occasions,” he replied, I didn’t neglect to notice the amused tone in his voice.

Shifting in my seat a little bit, I said to him, “You know you could have just waited until I was at home.”

The Devil shrugged one of his shoulders slightly. “What would be the fun in that?” I couldn’t help but snort at the comment. “Anyway, what’s this I hear about you giving your soul up for collateral?” he asked me.

I took a quick glance away from the windshield and over at him. He was still smirking, but now he had an eyebrow raised as well. “Have a rematch with Sam. If he loses, you can have my soul too,” I said to him evenly.

I heard him sigh, and there were a few moments of silence, where I presumed that he was contemplating over it. “You must really like Sammy if you’re willing to risk your soul over him,” he said after awhile.

I didn’t answer him, not knowing how to reply. However to my luck, or maybe not, depending on your perspective, he continued on. “Fine, I suppose two souls are better than one, right?” the Devil said with a chuckle. I took an other quick glance at him, but he was no longer there.

Well, at least I got Sam a rematch with him, I thought, starting to feel uncomfortable about the last thing he told me. He won’t win this next time though, I told myself gleefully. Hmm, I wonder what size mirrors we sell over at work.
