After things had calmed down and everything had been explained to Hiki, Hal and Kai decided that it would be a good idea to find out what was happening with the Hotel that night, as currently it was all sectioned off for police purposes. Everyone at the hotel had been told to leave the building, and there was a lot of chaos and panic over what was going on. Eventually, it was announced that the residents would be split amongst several nearby hotels and guesthouses, and Hal and Kai went without protest as they were both unreasonably tired.
Their new hotel looked bigger and posher than the last one, and Kai's eyes lit up when he saw it. The woman at the reception desk looked bored and handed them a key without really looking at it. Kai stifled a yawn behind his hand and trotted after Hal.
They hadn't really said much to each other since earlier, and Kai found himself blushing furiously whenever he thought about it. Hal simply felt furious; again, he'd been interrupted. He glanced at the redhead, who looked at him and then quickly looked away again. They walked along side by side, and somehow it was a lot more awkward than when they'd been in the restaurant earlier. Hal sighed, and examined the key.
"We're on the top floor this time, runt. I hope you're not afraid of heights,"
"No," Kai squeaked. The corners of Hal's mouth twitched slightly, and Kai blinked. He then found himself gazing at the blond, and tore his eyes away. Would things ever be simple for them?
They reached the top floor, and went along to the very end of the corridor, where their room was situated. Both of them blinked as they came to the door. Then, Hal's eyes widened and Kai went bright red.
"This is..." Hal groaned,
"A honeymoon suite?!" Kai squeaked, finishing his partner's sentence. The two of them looked at each other, and then looked away again. Kai expected Hal to storm back down to the lobby right that minute and demand another room. But no. To his surprise, the blond unlocked the door and pushed it open. Maybe he was just too tired to care. Or maybe...
"Are you coming?" he asked the younger man, who nodded slowly and followed him inside.
As expected, the suite had been made to look romantic and somewhat sensual, with candles and silk bed linen. Kai's cheeks heated up considerably as he also noticed that there was only one bed. Hal sighed and dropped the keys on the nearest flat surface, and pulled his tie off (He was still in his smart attire). Kai hovered awkwardly by the door, as if ready to run out at any second. He wanted Hal to say something. Anything.
After a few moments, he did.
"Kai,"
The redhead looked at him, and swayed on the spot slightly.
"Yes H-Hal?" he said, his voice quiet. He couldn't hide his nerves. Hal gave a small smile, and he sat on the bed, Kai's eyes following him the whole time.
"Come here," the blond said, gently. Kai's cheeks promptly went pink, and he was sure his legs had turned to jelly as he walked over to join the older male. He didn't look at him – that would be the end for him. Instead, he looked around the room.
"It's not...a bad room, actually. Spacious. Warm..." he commented vaguely, wanting to break the silence that had come between them. Hal said nothing, and simply kept his eyes on Kai, who upon feeling his gaze, turned to him. Hal shuffled closer and reached out, touching the redhead's flushed cheek with his fingertips.
"Hal..." Kai murmured, his heart thudding a little erratically. He found himself leaning into the touch, the touch he yearned for. He hoped that this time, things would be different. That he wouldn't be pushed away again or left even more confused.
"I'm glad you're alright," the blond said quietly, after a few moments. Kai felt a little niggle of disappointment, but took a deep breath, and then looked Hal straight in the eyes.
"Now we're here...you can tell me...what you tried to before," he whispered, shifting a little closer. The blond blinked, and then sighed. There was no point denying it anymore.
"I didn't mean for things to be so confusing and upsetting for you, and I didn't mean to be so harsh to you and...it was all my fault because I didn't want anyone to get close to me, because bad things have-,"
Hal was stopped by a finger against his lips.
"Hal. Just tell me," Kai said, softly. He didn't need reminding of the events of their holiday, and right now he was just too worn out to listen to long explanations.
The redhead gave a quiet gasp as Hal moved to pin him to the bed, his face inches from his own. He could feel his breath tickling his skin, and warmth spread throughout his body. Kai's cheeks heated up considerably as he felt a hand resting on his waist.
"What I'm trying to say is...," Hal said softly, leaning closer. His lips brushed Kai's, and the redhead's breathing hitched slightly. So much like the dream...
"I love you, good-for-nothing," the blond whispered, before softly crushing his lips against Kai's. The redhead's eyes fluttered shut, and he clutched Hal close to him, to help convince himself that it was real, that it was happening. But it was, and it was what he'd wanted all along. He loved Hal too.
"Mm..."
Hal licked at Kai's bottom lip, asking for entrance which Kai shyly granted him. His tongue explored the younger male's mouth, savouring his taste, and he slowly coaxed Kai's tongue to play with his own. Kai moaned softly, and the sound caused feelings to stir inside Hal. He stroked Kai's cheek lovingly as he continued to massage their tongues together. It was the most amazing feeling in the world.
When the need for oxygen became too great, they parted, slowly, almost reluctantly. Their gazes locked, and Hal was pleased to see Kai's flushed face and adorable smile, that was not just for him, but because of him.
"I love you too, Hal," he whispered as if they were the most precious words ever to be spoken. Hal smiled, and their lips joined in a short, sweet kiss.
"Now I feel really...annoyed," Hal then said, mysteriously. Kai blinked his big, innocent eyes, and tilted his head in a questioning manner.
"Why, Hal?" he asked. He then moaned as the older male began kissing and licking his neck. "Because...we could have been doing this from day one of the holiday if we'd had more sense," he purred, his fingers finding the buttons on Kai's shirt. The redhead twined his fingers into soft blond hair. He didn't dare point out to his new lover that it was him that had needed to see sense, and not himself. But now seemed just the right time. He let all of that wash over him, and he closed his eyes briefly.
"I love you so much Hal," he murmured. The blond looked at him, and smiled.
"I love you too...Kai,"
He touched his lips with his own once again, and neither of them could quite describe the feelings that were being exchanged and felt. All they knew is that it they loved and needed each other, and that from now on, things would be this way.
Always.
Meanwhile, back at NCD headquarters...
"How are things with them?" Ibu asked, sipping coffee. Hiki flicked his honey curls, and smiled knowingly. Miyoshi was present also, leaning on the back of Ibu's chair.
"I think they're alright. I've sent Kaji out to hunt for more on this drugs group, though. I think Kai and Hal may have stumbled on something quite important there,"
Ibu nodded, and Miyoshi groaned and began pacing around the office.
"It's so boring without those two around!" he whined. Hiki laughed, and blushed a little as Ibu came over and rested his hands on his shoulders, rubbing lightly. Miyoshi was now having a tantrum of sorts. Ibu raised an eyebrow at him, and he leant down to talk to Hiki.
"So...what do you think Eto and Kurabayashi have done on this holiday?" he murmured. The honey-blond smiled, a little smugly and then sighed.
"I think they've finally learnt to love each other,"
Learn to love you
~End~
