The next morning, she finds a cup of coffee on her desk when she gets in.

Her eyes narrow immediately, and she looks around the room. He (are they still partners?) is in talking with the captain.

She looks back at her desk and picks up the coffee. It’s her favorite. Of course it is.

She sighs, frustrated.

She’s still pissed off as hell. He knows that—or he should, anyway. (It’s his fault.)

But she looks back at him.

This does not mean that I forgive you, she thinks, before taking a long drink of the coffee.
