I’ve gotten quite a bit of slack in recent years due to my excessive need to use cliffhangers in my stories. This is just sorta to poke fun at all that madness.

For those who do not know, I’m Turtlefreak121 with another one shot for your enjoyment.

Cliffhanger

The cliff lay out before him, peeking at what seemed to be a needle thin tip. He was sure to make a mental note of it but the fight was at the forefront of his mind.

The ninja narrowed his eyes and guarded himself from his foe’s strike with his own weapon.

With aggravation the extraterrestrial cried out in pain over his now badly damaged appendage. Yet the crustacean-like creature thrust forward with yet another attack like a deranged man.

The turtle was surprised at simply how unyielding the monster truly was and stepped back, evading the larger impact of the strike.

His ears were filled with the sounds of his brothers battling their similar intergalactic hosts. All were faring no better or no worse than he was himself.

The beast shrieked in its attack once again and the turtle shrunk back, certainly even more unamused by the turtle’s constant evasions.

Once secure enough to catch his breath the turtle panted. He shook his head and glared at the inhospitable alien. He wished more than anything else that he and his brothers could go back in time and keep from ever encountering these beasts and this uninviting habitat.

The monster lunged and the turtle, in complete surprise, leaped backward to evade only to find no footing upon doing so!

He remembered all at once about the cliff and reached out by instinct, grabbing to its jagged edge with one hand.

His eyes wandered downward, though not for too long. He had to be sure to not to lose his collectiveness at the sight of his prospective fall.

Fortunately, though, he was not falling. He had his hand set on the cliff.

At least, he had until his gaze looked up to see the beast standing above him with its snapping claws. The giant lobster-like creature rolled a pensive noise before striking downward toward the turtle’s hand.

“Oh, to hell with it,” the turtle growled at his cliffhanging scenario.
