Chapter 4

Oliver's phone rang loudly along with the silence both Oliver & Chloe pushed back from where they were noticing what they were about to do Chloe stared at Oliver & felt embarrassed yet she wanted to kiss him she looked down at her shoes & then at her bag she picked it up with the phone ringing in the background still looking at Oliver "I'm sorry....that was nothing.....I got to go." She ran to the elevator but Oliver ran after her "Chloe, Chloe wait!" he said while grabbing her arm Chloe had her back still turned to him not wanting to look at him but he still had ahold of her. "Please don't go Chloe....I don't want you to" he said with desperation sounding in his voice.

Chloe turned around to face him licked her lips & sighed "Oliver what are you doing....actually what are we doing?" she asked looking at him as if he would have the answer to her question. "I don't know Chloe to be honest with you....but all I can tell you is I like spending time with you...whatever that was that went on before my phone rang well...I don't know." He sighed & shook his head. He didn't want to be angry about the situation but he had wanted Chloe for a while now he wanted to hold her & give her everything in the world but he didn't want to hurt anyone in the process he hated this whole situation.

Silence beated in his apartment they were now sitting in his couch not moving not really knowing what to say to each other. Oliver got up & fixed himself a drink he turned to Chloe "Want some?" Chloe looked over & rolled her eyes "Oliver aren't you supposed to be trying to not drink at this point?" Oliver groaned & put back his drink as he came to sit back down. "So are you going to start or shall I?" he asked looking at her

"What do you want me to say Ollie? That I like you....that I want to be with you...that I secretely like you? What?!" She yelled the last part out she didn't mean to take it out on him but she was angry. "No! That isn't what I want...I want...." he was about to talk when his phone rang again "Just answer it Ollie." she looked down at his phone & gestured to it. He sighed & saw that it was Bart "I don't want to leave it like this Chlo." She smiled softly & looked up at him "I don't either Ollie but I need to get going I was supposed to pick up something for Clark a while ago." He nodded & stood up as Chloe followed suit.

He gave her the papers he knew that Clark needed & as he passed them to her their fingers touched lightly electricity shot through both of them Chloe jumped from the feeling & Oliver stared at her he smiled at her he thought she was so beautiful but he knew he couldn't say that when Chloe had the papers & was about to leave Oliver stopped it from closing & got in too Chloe looked at him & stared as if to say what are you doing? Oliver knew what she was thinking & smiled softly. "I'm coming with I need to talk to Clark might as well do it while your going to right?" she stared at him & then awkwardly turned to face the front of the elevator they didn't say anything as they got out & he led her to his car the whole ride to Watchtower was awkward & silent but neither of them said anything to make it feel better how could they they both felt as if they said something it would make it seem real & that scared them both.

They entered Watchtower headquarters & there stood Clark, Bart, AC, & Jimmy gathering information for their next mission they all looked up to see oliver & Chloe coming in both Chloe & Oliver gave each other worried looks & seperated themselves a bit quickly Chloe thought that if she was seen too close to Oliver that it would seem obvious that they almost had kissed even though it probably didn't. "Oh good you guy's are here...why'd it take you so long?" Bart asked as Chloe sat down at her desk & Oliver stood next to all the guys & then looked at Clark. Clark was still mad at him & everyone felt the tension "Well we got to talking about the next mission you know how those talks can go over." Oliver said everyone just stared at him & AC patted him on the back.

2 hours had passed & everyone had been quiet & doing their work trying to get into the whole Kandorian situation that they all didn't really seem to understand Oliver kept shooting glances at Chloe & then back at his work & secretely so did Chloe Bart noticed that & went next to Chloe he talked to her making his voice loud enough so all of them could hear "Hey gorgeous, why the staring contest with Oliver, you two sweet on each other?" He laughed & everyone looked at them Chloe went red in the face & Oliver widened his eyes. No one said anything & Bart finally broke the tension "I was just kidding....Ha Ha Oliver & Chloe? Yeah right it would be me & Chloe next right doll?" He asked teasing but Jimmy gave him the devil stare Clark looked at Bart "Bart, stop bugging Chloe & get to work." Clark responded while Oliver laughed & followed suit "Yeah man you don't have a shot worth of nothing pal." he laughed but no one else did but Bart got mad "excuse me man if anyone has a shot it would be Jimmy again it would never be you...." Before he could finish whatever it was he wanted to say Oliver jumped up & grabbed Bart by the shirt & pushed him back to the wall everyone got up as they watched Clark pull him off of Bart "Whoa whoa stop guys....enough!" Clark yelled angrily holding them both back.

Bart pushed Clark's hand off as both men stared at each other with red faces "What the hell is wrong with you man? I was just kidding....god!" Oliver breathed heavily & Bart picked his coat &
supersped away everyone stared after him then back at Oliver. Chloe looked at Oliver with shock she didn't know why that had upset him so much but she had a guess she knew that Oliver didn't really like the thought of Jimmy & her back together but she didn't think she would fight Bart over it his really good friend. "What the hell Oliver? What is going on with you?" Oliver threw his jacket at the couch & walked over to the other side of the room with Jimmy, Clark, AC, & Chloe all looking at him. "I asked you a question!" Clark yelled but Chloe grabbed Clark's hand "I'll talk to him Clark don't make the situation worse...he's just in a bad place." Clark looked at Chloe & nodded while everyone got back to work.

Chloe made her way over to where Oliver was & sat down next to him as she watched him stare out the window she wondered what he was thinking right now she sighed & touched his hand lightly. "What is going on Oliver? What was that all about?" She looked at him waiting for his answer "You know what it's about...I thought I made that pretty clear back there..." he gestured to where they were standing before Chloe closed her eyes & opened them again sighing as she did this "Me...." she answered for him he nodded & rolled his eyes "Ding ding ding....I guess I am that transparent huh?" she shook her head & stared at him "Ollie talk to me.....I know it's more than that." She said "No Chloe it's not....I'm--I'm--I'm...." he couldn't say it. "You're what?" she stared at him hoping for his answer "What is it that you can never tell me?!" she yelled this time more loudly than she meant.

"You want to know why Chloe?!" he responded "Yes!! I do I want to know just tell me!" she yelled & he yelled back "Because I'm in love with you!" Chloe held her breath & they both went silent she looked over to where Clark, Jimmy, & AC were but they obviously hadn't heard since they were going about their business she breathed in & looked back at Oliver. "You what?....Your in..." "yes Chloe I am in love with....you." he stared at her waiting for her to say something just anything but she couldn't she didn't know what to say what to respond to that she let her breath go & she got up Oliver followed her she didn't say anything "Wait Chlo aren't you gonna say something? This is pretty big..." she had tears in her eyes but she didn't know why she looked him in the eyes & shook her head she whispered softly "I should get back to work...." she walked away leaving Oliver standing there looking after her he saw her go back to where she was sitting before everything happened he sighed & then looked out the window he grabbed his jacket & walked out the door with people calling him back but he shut their voices off he couldn't be in that room not with what he just admitted & Chloe rejecting him.

Chloe watched as he left & then back at her computer screen she had more tears in her eyes & she felt so dumb because all she wanted to do was tell him how much she loved him & was in love with him but she couldn't she didn't know why but she couldn't She noticed Clark watching her & then back at Oliver he came over to her & stared at her. "What did you guys talk about that made him leave?"
Clark asked. Chloe looked up at him & smiled "Nothing...nothing he just needs to cool off...that is what I told him to do." she swallowed & felt her throat close in on her she hated how she treated Oliver but she didn't know if she was ready to admit this to herself or anyone else Clark took that as an okay because he left to go back to work leaving Chloe saddened & not knowing what to do.
