Warning; crackity crack crack. Also spoilers up to chapter 470. Ish.
(presenting my own version of passive aggressive fail.)
"This has nothing to do with my promise to you."
Kiba snickered in the background, a giggle of "sn-ap" easily heard over the dead quiet of the falling snow.
Sakura was too preoccupied with trying to look affronted to notice, "Wow, what a great promise of a lifetime much huh, Naruto-kun? What happened to that bonds bullshit that I keep hearing you spout? I guess that only applies to fellow tortured-souls like Sasuke and Gaara?"
Naruto stood there and tried to comprehend the cursing, aggravated, hormonal Sakura in front of him now with the playfully violent, optimistic Sakura of the past months. Or even the cry baby Sakura of the past few...minutes.
The pinkette waited, but when it was apparent that Naruto wasn't going to say anything intelligent anytime soon (or, the "hell hath no fury as a woman scorned" part of her thought, ever), instead whirled on Kakashi instead, who'd up to this point been surveying the exchange with a casually raised eyebrow. Yamato had long since ditched to look up this "promise of a lifetime" thing that everyone kept bringing up in the chapter archives.
"And you. You bastard. I have no idea what you told Naruto-because yelling his name and cutting him off in the middle of a sentence is so subtle-but what inhell's teeth made you think that you had any right to exclude me? Well, excuse me if I don't possess the ability to talk the enemy to death with sentimental bullshit, but I'd like to think that I'm part of this freaking team too!"
Kakashi smiled blandly down at fuming girl, holding out his hands complacently and stupidly ignoring her clenched fists, probably thinking something along the lines of character development? What character development?
"Maa, maa, Sakura-chan, maybe you should lower your voice a bit. Girls shouldn't shout. What I told Naruto wasn't exactly relevant to you, so you shouldn't worry your pretty little-!"
The only warning was a loud, enraged scream before Sakura's fist was lodged in Kakashi's head. Naruto jumped out of the way. Disconcerted, he dazedly peered out at the girl from slitted eyes and made an attempt to rectify any misunderstanding his teacher had caused, "He's right. This doesn't have anything to do with you. It's that thing called a 'need to know-"
And then Naruto was lying unconscious next to Kakashi's still form.
Feeling only slightly better, Sakura brushed the snow off of her gloves and turned around to look for Kiba and Lee. It took her a few minutes, but she finally found them cowering behind some firewood.
"Wasn't...wasn't that a bit...inconsistent of you?"
She glared down at the prostrated dog-boy, reaching down one long arm to yank him up by the ear and smirking when he flinched.
"Really? I hadn't noticed."
BECAUSE WHAT THE HELL MAN THANKS FOR RUINING TWO OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS KISHI. Naruto sounds like an asshole (this isn't about my promise to you? REALLY?), and Sakura sounds like some superficial idiot who a) can't act for life, and b) holds no weight to love and bonds, and will drop the old kid for the newest hero like that.
SOMEONE SHAKE KISHIMOTO. LIKE. REALLY HARD. Seriously. Seriously. I hate the manga now, I'm only still in it for the fandom. The past...seventy chapters have just been plot fail after plot fail after character fail.
