A Glimpse at that Summer Away

Seven Hours and Counting...

--

The noise from the radio, coupled with the irritating clamor from Riley's Gameboy made it difficult to concentrate.

Huey closed his eyes to the words he'd reread five times, then turned to look out the window for a moment, his hand holding his place in his closed book. The growing-more-familiar-by-the-day, peacable surroundings of Woodcrest had long since faded into the distance, but the agonizing strip of monotoned highway that replaced it was too much to look at.

Being forced into the car against his will, taken to a place he didn't really feel like going. Bags in the car, no one speaking but an out-of-date radio announcer in between songs, Riley getting on his nerves more and more every second due to proximity, traffic rolling by without any notice of them. It was too familiar.

Like leaving Chicago again.

Huey scowled out the window and turned away from the scowling face reflected back at him, opening his book again. If he were going to think about things, it might as well be about the revolution yet to come.
