All Hallows Eve

Author's Note: I found the lack of Halloween stories to be well… lacking. So, I’m here to submit my own story written for one of my favorite holidays. Oh, and it’s also to make up for not submitting something in awhile.
Author’s Note # 2: For anyone who has read the awesome story “What Happens in College” by City Girl Dreamer, I’ve taken the Halloween costumes that she had given the characters and incorporated it into my story. If you’re wondering why, it’s because the ideas were originally from me. Read the reviews of that story if you don’t believe me. So I don’t want any ‘Why are you stealing her ideas? Can’t you make up your own costumes?!’ reviews or any of that stuff.
The only costumes that I didn’t take were: Greg’s leather costume (because that idea wasn’t mine =P), Nick’s prince costume (it was a good costume for him and all but it wouldn’t work if I made him a prince in the story), and Mandy and Wendy’s costumes (because again they weren’t my idea). Apart from that, I hope you enjoy.
Disclaimer: Don’t own.
Summary: In which Brass is embarrassed, Grissom isn’t helping, Sara isn’t being obvious at all, Catherine is drenched in blood, Warrick is out for some blood of his own, Nick is in denial, and Greg… is being Greg. “How can you possibly hate Halloween?”
Deal With the Devil
~*~
Detective Jim Brass let out an exasperated sigh as he quickened his pace through the criminal lab towards Grissom’s office. His face reddened when he passed two women that didn’t fail to hide their snickering as they rushed in the opposite direction. At that, he broke out into a bit of a power walk and finally spotted the door to Grissom’s office.
His attempt to enter however was met with a little bit of difficulty and he let out another frustrated sigh as he turned to his side and walked sideways into the office. When he was finally inside he looked around amazed at what he saw. The normally creepy but interesting office of a one Gilbert Grissom now had a more Halloween-y feel to it. There were random fake skulls and bones placed next to the bugs that Grissom had kept. And all around the cabinets, fake spider webs were strung up.
Grissom had his chair turned around so Jim couldn’t see what he was doing. He cleared his throat to signal his arrival, which caused Grissom to turn around. It was then Jim saw what Gil had chosen as his Halloween costume.
There, Grissom sat in what looked to be a bug catcher’s outfit. He wore a matching ensemble of a light brown button up top with matching light brown shorts that went above his knee. Jim didn’t fail to notice the brown explorer’s hat that was hanging behind the chair. Or the bug catching net that was standing against a shelf behind Grissom’s chair. And finally, Jim saw that Grissom was bent over tying up a pair of brown hiking boots.
Grissom continued to fix his laces, still not looking up at Brass.
“Just give me a second to finish Jim,” Grissom stuck out his tongue out to the corner of his mouth trying to concentrate on his task. “These laces have been giving me trouble since I left the apartment.”
When Jim heard more giggling from outside the office, he turned to see a few more people walk past and backtrack to see if they had seen what they saw correctly. He growled and went to close the door and locked it. He made his way back towards Grissom’s desk and slammed his palms on the table.
“Is this party really necessary to attend? Because I would really like it if I didn’t have to do this.”
Grissom clicked his tongue and untied the laces once more and began again. He still failed to look up at Jim when he responded.
“It wasn’t my idea for this party to happen Jim. If I recall correctly, both the heads of the crime lab and the police departments wanted to celebrate Halloween this year so here we are.”
He smiled when he finally got one of the laces on correctly and started on the other one.
“Plus, it’s only for a few hours. How bad can it be?”
And that was when Grissom finally looked up. As his eyes slowly traveled upwards, left eyebrow raised, he first saw the white dress like gown. Followed by, the feathery white wings. And finally, the red tint on the detective’s face complete with the fluffy halo. Grissom’s other eyebrow shot up when he finally looked up and took in what Jim was wearing.
He broke out into a small grin. “Jim, you do realize that you were allowed to pick what costume you were to wear to this party right?”
Brass flushed even deeper as he tried to sit down in the chair in front of Grissom’s desk only to be pushed out of it by the wings on his back.
“It wasn’t my idea to dress up like this!” Brass moved his hand up and down his body. He slipped the straps of the wings off his back and let them fall to the floor before finally sitting himself across from a still grinning Grissom. “This isn’t funny Gil!”
Grissom actually let out a real loud laugh at that before continuing. “If it wasn’t your idea, then who and how did they manage to get you into a full angel costume?”
“My wife,” Brass let out a tired sigh and leaned in the chair until his head hit the headrest. “She’s dressed as a devil.”
TBC?
Review if you liked it. Hell, review it if you hated it! I’ll probably be continuing it if I get a couple of reviews.
