A/N: For the record, I don't own General Hospital, I just like to write stories involving the characters :) If you could review and tell me if it's worth continuing or not, it would be greatly appreciated. Please and thank you!

"Mom, it's just school. Nothing bad is going to happen to me there, I promise," I told my mother as I picked up my blue backpack off the floor and hoisted it over my shoulder.
"I know Michael, it's just ... I have a really bad feeling about today," a nine month pregnant Carly Jacks folded her arms across her chest.
"Relax. It'll be okay. I love you," I walked over and kissed her cheek before heading outside to catch the bus.
I had forgotten to charge my iPod before leaving, so the ride to school was a very quiet one. At least it was until my best friend slash favorite cousin, Katherine Quartermaine-Morgan got on the bus and sat right next to me.
"Your dad is throwing Claudia a birthday party tonight and my dad doesn't want me to go. So I take it your mom doesn't want you to go, and I know for a fact Alexis doesn't want Kristina to go but I think we should all just crash it!" she exclaimed, and I sat there with my eyes shut.
"Do you ever even breathe? I'm pretty sure I didn't even hear you pause for a second," I said, before yawning. It was way to early to be dealing with Katie's antics.
"Haha, you're so funny Michael. If I didn't breathe, you'd have a lifeless corpse right next to you at this moment," Katie said sarcastically before she brushed her long, blonde hair behind her ears.
"Really? I'd prefer that over you any day," I joked, resulting in a sigh from her.
"Michael, can you be serious, even for just five seconds? The party's at the Metro Court tonight at eight, I believe," she tilted her head at me, and smiled, "and as I said before, I think we should all go."
"I know it's at eight ... and I'll think about it. I'm not up for adding more stress into my mom's life than I already do," the bus pulled to a stop and we all began to get off.
"That's better than a no, so I'll take it. See you at lunch!" she said before turning to go meet up with the rest of her friends.
I shook my head as I walked off to my first period class. My day was the same as it was every other day, that was up until I got to lunch. I sat down at my table which included my half-sister Kristina Davis and her boyfriend Keifer. Katie sat down next to me, and immediately began to talk to Kristina about the party tonight. I ran my fingers through my hair and looked around the cafeteria. That's when I saw her.
"Ah Michael, I see you've discovered the new girl," Kristina said, and I quickly turned my focus back to my table.
"Yeah. We don't get new kids here that often. What's her name?" I asked, hoping at least one person at the table had an answer.
"It's McKayla," Katie answered my question quickly. I should have known she would, Katie knows everything about everyone at this school.
"I'll be right back," I stood up and walked over to the table where McKayla was sitting alone, her attention completely focused on the book in front of her. "Hello," I greeted her, and she jumped. I felt bad already for frightening her so quickly.
"Hi," she replied in a quiet voice, and her gaze met mine. Her green eyes with gold flecks in them stared into mine, and something flickered in them. I'm pretty sure it was curiosity, or she was weirded out by me. I hope it was the first option, and not the second. Her dark brown hair fell down just past her shoulders, and was pin straight.
"I'm Michael," I flashed a smile before sitting next to her, and she sat up straighter than before.
"McKayla," she smiled back before blushing slightly.
"It's nice to meet you. I noticed you were sitting here alone. Do you want to come sit with us?" I pointed to back to the table and she glanced over quickly. "We don't bite, I promise," I quickly added.
"Um ... maybe another day. I kind of want to finish this book I'm reading," I looked down at the book in her hands.
"Okay, if you're sure. So ... the Feast of Fools? What's that about?" I asked, trying to make some more conversation with her. She seemed pretty shy to me, but I figured she could use a friend here in Port Charles.
"Good versus evil in the world ... and vampires," she smiled shyly, and the lunch bell rang.
"Ah ha, sounds very interesting. I'd better go grab my stuff before it gets trampled. Monday though, okay?" I asked standing up.
"Alright," she replied before stuffing her books into her backpack, and I headed back to my table with a real smile on my face; the first real smile I've had in a long time.
"So, how'd it go Romeo?" Katie asked me as we walked to our A.P. Calculus class together.
"First of all, I'm no Romeo. Second of all, I was just being polite and welcoming the new girl to our school. Third of all, even if I did get to know her better and develop a small crush on her, I'm not stupid enough to drag her into my life. We all know how crazy it is. I mean, look at our families Katie. There's no need for her to be brought into all of this," I said, as we took our seats in the back.
"Amen to that one brother," Kristina said as she sat down in front of me. Before I could respond, the teacher walked in and told us to pull out our books and calculator.
A/N: Who is McKayla? Why is she in Port Charles? What affect will she have on Michael's life? Keep reading to find out :)
