Near the heart of the galaxy, about one hundred light-years from the fringes of the Maelstrom, drifts a monolithic ship the color of a flame’s orange and an ocean’s blue. This is the Eldar craftworld of Xerim. Xerim’s history reaches back to before the Fall; several powerful Seers, chief among them Tharin Stormsinger, knew what was coming, and gathered Eldar all across the Empire to board Xerim. Within a few hundred years of his death, however, Tharin Stormsinger was forgotten by many as one of the founders of the craftworld. His only legacy is his body at the center Xerim’s Dome of Crystal Seers. His name was never recorded, for reasons unknown to this day, and he is known only as “The Founder.”
Xerimites are proud. They rarely accept help from the other craftworlds but will not hesitate to offer aid or even intercede without invitation. One can easily distinguish Xerimite Aspect Warriors from Eldar of other craftworlds by their armor. Aspect Warriors from Xerim hold the orange and blue of the craftworld rather than the traditional Aspect colors. The reason for this is a secret lost to ages, much like the name of Tharin Stormsinger. No Xerimite challenges this, however. It was ever thus.
Xerim is led jointly by their Prime Autarch and their Farseer. The current holders of these titles are Autarch Remil Iyegar and Farseer Anchros Stormsinger, both chosen by the one who came before. All Autarchs of Xerim have come from the Warp Spider and Striking Scorpion Aspects. Remil had training in the Fire Dragon Aspect as well, and as such he goes to battle armed with mandiblasters, fusion gun, a Scorpion’s chainsword, and a Warp jump generator. Anchros is a powerful Farseer, the first Stormsinger to walk the Path of the Seer since his ancestor Tharin.
They both took their titles in the midst of Xerim’s greatest battle. Orwen Forgeblade was Prime Autarch then, and Ulsan Starborn was Farseer. Ulsan had sensed great potential within Anchros, and did his best to guide him along the path of the Seer to become his successor. The fight was an attempt to prevent human worshippers of Slaanesh from reaching Iyanden. The planet was called Gorm. It was successful, but at a terrible cost. Anchros watched his mentor die at the hands of Chaos leader Rhame the Defiled. Rhame would also have killed Anchros had he not at that moment become lost to the Seer Path, becoming the new Farseer. After this transformation, Anchros repaid in blood Ulsan’s demise by killing Rhame. His army despaired of winning the fight and began to retreat, allowing Xerim to push forward. During this march Orwen was wounded. He had thought nothing of it at the time, but after returning to Xerim his health took a turn for the worse. As he slowly died, he asked Remil, who had been part of the Warp Spider squad he led, to take his place as Xerim’s Autarch. Remil dutifully accepted. Orwen Forgeblade’s spirit stone now inhabits Xerim’s Wraithlord when it is used in battle.
Other distinguished Xerimites of this era include Ysalia Forgeblade, called the “Jewel of Xerim,” her brother Freyan, and the 1,236th Warp Spider Exarch. Ysalia and Freyan are the progeny of Orwen. The girl is known for her stunning beauty and is the chosen mate of Remil Iyegar. Freyan long ago became an Eldar Outcast with several of his companions. However, shortly before the Battle of Gorm, Freyan and his companions returned to Xerim and accepted the mantle of Rangers. He has been very helpful to the Autarch and Farseer. Xerim’s 1,296th Warp Spider Exarch perished bravely in a battle against the Tau. The remainder of Xerim’s forces had been eliminated, and he made a daring last stand in an assault with his final Warp Spider. The other was lost quickly, but the Exarch cut down 6 of the 11 Tau before dying. His body has been preserved within the Warp Spider Shrine.
