The Other Cross

Summary:

What seemed like a normal mission, turned out to have an ending know one expected with the appearance of a strange General, that had some connection to General Cross and even had the same name as him. This person and Allen find themselves connected through the person they can’t stand the most and it all happens through mind games, cards, posters, sick minds, perverted thoughts and a golem or two.

Chapter1:

“Tim, where are you? Come on Tim” A snowy haired youth called out, among the throng of people. “Allen, he’ll be okay. But now we have to go” A girl answered him. The boy with white hair and the curse mark through his left eye, nodded subdued. His current company was the girl, a mischievous boy with carrot coloured hair and a cold and menacing looking boy with a permanent scowl on his face and blue black hair, All of whom were exorcists along with himself and older than he.

“I wonder where Tim has got to.” Allen wondered aloud, as we trudged through the streets of the small town. “Che” Kanda said and walked ahead. Lenalee gave me a reassuring smile and Lavi just shrugged. “He’s fine Allen, he always comes back”. Allen sighed and walked on. The crowd of people shoving and jostling each other was really getting to me. “Did you here? General Cross is in town” a woman gossiped to her friend. He stopped in his tracks.

“KANDA!” Allen yelled, sprinting down the street and latching onto his coat “Lets go back to the Order, we really don’t want to stay here. Come on!” Allen tried to tug him in the direction of the station. “What are you doing, bean sprout. The next train isn’t till tomorrow. Let go before I decapitate you” he answered, violently pulling his arm away.

“General Cross”…”Did you hear?”….”General Cross is here”….”Cross is here” all the people around me gossiped. “AHHHH” Allen yelled, clamping his hands over his ears. He then caught a glimpse of a general exorcist’s coat and hat. “AHHHHHHHHH” Allen yelled again, tears streaming out of my eyes as he sprinted away, straight into Kanda. Everyone looked at Allen. “C-C-C-C-Cross” he stuttered pointing to where he saw him last. They all turned and found…nothing, just regular people.

“I think Allen’s finally snapped” Lavi commented to Lenalee, who bonked him on the head. She helped him up and we tried to go on as normal but Allen was getting paranoid…glancing behind him and around every few seconds and freaking out when he caught a glimpse of the hat and coat. But a minute later when everyone turned he was gone.

The next time he saw him he was looking right at me, the crimson wavy hair was the same, even though Ihecould only see a small portion of it. His face was in shadow but Allen thought it looked a little more feminine for some reason. Allen started hyperventilating, and once again they all turned. He went into full freak out mode. “AHHHH” Allen screamed and tears once again streamed out of his eyes as Allen curled into a ball and rocked back and forth. “M-M-Master i-is h-h-here. N-n-no g-g-go a-a-away, I s-swear I-I’ll p-pay t-t-the d-debts, M-M-M-Master C-C-C-Cross” He stuttered out.

Kanda looked at Allen coldly and began to draw Mugen. “Don’t Kanda, Lavi will handle this” Lenalee said. This was strange because for one: Kanda doesn’t listen to Lenalee and two: it actually worked. She signalled Lavi who hit him really hard on the head with his hammer. “I’m sorry Master Cross, please don’t hit me with that hammer” was the last thing Allen said before blackness overtook his vision.

“MASTER CROSS” Allen yelled as he awoke. He was thrown to the ground as Lavi clutched his ears in pain. Allen looked around and sighed in relief, he wasn’t here. “What the hell Allen?” Lavi cried, rubbing his ears. “Sorry” Allen said, chuckling awkwardly.

A silver golem the twin of Timcampy, you know except the silver part, whizzed by. “Dim Sim, get back here” called a feminine voice from behind me. Still on the ground, Allen turned and saw….Master Cross walking towards him with his hand stretched out towards the sliver golem. ‘Dim Sim?’ I thought, vaguely remembering the strange name. He stopped in front of me and Allen cowered into the ground in fear.

A flicker of gold, seated on the top of his hat, caught my eye. “Timcampy” Allen exclaimed and quickly covered my mouth with my hands. Master Cross looked down at me, his face still shadowed. “So he’s yours now, is he?” Cross asked, Timcampy fluttering down to his hand.

‘Why does Master cross have the voice of a female? Did he get a sex change? Nah, he likes women too much to actually become one’ Allen thought. Timcampy fluttered over to sit on my head and the sliver golem whizzed back to Cross.

It went over his head and knocked his hat off. He bent down to retrieve it. “Oi Dim Sim, seriously” he commented in his female voice. He got back up and everyone expected to see a masculine face with lots of red wavy hair. THAT WAS SO NOT WHAT I SAW!

Instead I saw a feminine face with an abundance of wavy black locks…WAIT BLACK….that’s not right. Then Allen looked again and saw that an area at the front was crimson on either side. ‘No wonder I had her confused with Cross with that red hair at the front’ Allen thought while studying the OTHER Cross. Her warm eyes, the colour of melted caramel, gazed back. “Merce” Kanda breathed in shock “You’re supposed to be dead”. She looked at him and winked discreetly.

“You’re not General Cross” Allen said. “Yes, I am” she answered. “No, you’re not” Allen said, more forcefully. “Yes, I am” She said, just as forcefully. “NO YOU’RE NOT” Allen yelled “FOR ONE YOU HAVE BOOBS”. “I am aware of that, Captain Obvious that would be because I’m a woman” She said, recovering quickly from her shock “And by the way, I AM GENERAL CROSS” she yelled at me.

“You’re not my master” Allen bit out. “Ye-What? Master? Oh, you mean my Dad” she said, looking less confused. “What, Dad? Wait who are you? Allen asked even more confused. “I’m Mercia…Mercia Cross Marian”.

“Wait, wait, wait, you’re his daughter?” Lavi questioned. Mercia nodded and Lavi burst out laughing. “Ha, that’s a good one but honestly who are you really?” Mercia started to look just a little pissed. “I’m telling the truth, you stupid jerk” she retorted to marched off.

Allen studied the supposed daughter of Cross. Her uniform was a black, sleeveless turtleneck with a white cross on it. Her long black skirt had a slit up the side that went all the way to her thigh; it showed black leggings underneath with a white stripe up each side, this was paired with black ankle boots with a heel. Not at all like Cross.

From what he could see, she was average height with long legs and lean with taut muscles and great curves, need he think more….a loud rumble interrupted his mental cataloguing, as an Akuma burst through the snow. Mercia whipped around and dashed towards it activating her innocence.

“Web of the elements, cloak me in light” she called and jumped onto the Akuma. Pressing her hand on it, a molten red glow spread from her hand and covered the Akuma. It spluttered and exploded.

Mercia landed softly on the ground. Villagers crowed around, thanking her and praising her but she just walked off once more. “I’m very confused” Lavi said. Allen and Lenalee nodded in agreement while Kanda ignored them all. “We made need to talk to Komui about this” Allen suggested.

At the inn they were staying at Allen and Lenalee waited in earnest for Lavi to tell them what Komui told him, while Kanda lent against the wall trying to not be interested. “So?” Allen asked expectantly as Lavi walked back into the room and sat. The room was scarcely furnished and had four single beds in a row and only a small table with flowers and one lone armchair, which Lavi was occupying.

“Well, she is Cross’s daughter apparently. I was assured many, many times, in a variety of different ways that she was Cross’s daughter. She is apparently a general, and like the others spends her time travelling with her disciple/friend Michi Kanda” Kanda’s eyes narrowed a little at this and he turned his head sharply to the left, blocking out their conversation, he didn’t need to hear what he already knew. “She is hardly like her father, except for her expensive taste in wine. She is unique in personality and her innocence is hell, when she’s angry enough” Lavi finished off.

“Is that all Komui told you?” Allen questioned. Lavi squirmed a bit before saying “Well no, I was also told what her innocence actually is and that she has an extra gift, that attracts the Noahs to her for other purposes other than killing her and before the earl had died he gave one last mission to his disciples, to get Mercia to use her gift for them. I didn’t care about the rest of it”

Allen looked incredibly interested in Mercia and said “What’s her innocence?” He seemed to need to hear everything about this person that he could. Lavi sighed at Allen’s inherent interest in this topic. “According to Komui her innocence is a network of sparkly gold, criss-crossing patterns, in a body suit design, but you could only see her arms as it went under her clothes. It gave her control over all the elements and she could use them to her will and manifest weapons out of them and send them into inanimate objects” Lavi explained in a bored tone.

Allen looked satisfied and didn’t badger Lavi with anymore questions, though he was still curious about his master’s daughter. He needed to know more, maybe they’d meet again and then he’d be able to ask her his questions himself. “Do you think we’ll meet her again?” Allen asked. No one answered. Kanda was meditating, Lavi was snoring on his bed and Lenalee was out on the balcony. “I hope we do” Allen whispered to himself….
