Hi guys. I'm a huge Sliders fan so I thought I'd write a fanfic for it. This is pretty much the same series we all no and love but with a new character and different twists. I won't go through the entire series because there's quite a few episodes and this would end up being a long fanfic. I will start from the beginning, then pick some of my favorite episodes from the series, and even throw in a few original ideas for worlds to. I hope you all enjoy it.

I do not own Sliders in anyway shape or form. The only character I own is my OC Melissa Wells.

Here's Chapter One

It was early in the morning and a young man and a young woman were sound asleep in a San Francisco basement. The man was asleep at his computer desk. He was about 25 years old. He had brown hair and although you couldn't see them because they were closed, he had blue eyes. His name was Quinn Mallory. The woman was fast asleep in an armchair with her laptop opened. She was 25 years old and had long blonde hair that reached the center of her back and brown eyes. Her name was Melissa Wells and she was Quinn's fiancee.

The two had been up all night working on their anti-gravity machine again. But while working on it, something happened that they weren't expecting. A weird vortex opened up in the center of Quinn's basement. They couldn't figure out how it happened or why it did but they were both extremely excited about it.

Just then, the alarm on Quinn's watch went off and he sat up so fast that his chair tipped and he fell backwards. “Damn it,” Quinn yelled as he hit the ground with a thud causing Melissa to wake up.

“What,” Melissa asked as she looked around the room for the source of the noise only to find that Quinn was on the ground rubbing his back. Melissa chuckled as she closed her laptop. She then got to her feet and she helped him up.

“Yeah ha ha very funny,” Quinn said with sarcasm in his voice as he allowed her to pull him to his feet. He then picked up the turned over chair and sat it back up.

“What time is it,” Melissa asked with a yawn.

Quinn glanced at his watch and his eyes grew wide when he saw that it was 7:15am. “It's 7:15,” Quinn said with panic in his voice as he looked up at his fiancee. “We overslept. Man we cannot be late to Professor Arturo's class.”

“Yeah we don't want to start the day with him yelling at us,” Melissa said. “I'm gonna head home and get ready.”

“Okay. I'll be at your house in fifteen minutes,” Quinn told her.

“Alright see you then,” Melissa said. She then gave Quinn a peck on the lips before the two rushed up the stairs.

Once they went up stairs to the kitchen they saw that Quinn's mom was awake and was in the middle of cooking breakfast. “Morning ma,” Quinn said.

“Good morning Mrs. Mallory,” Melissa said as she made her way over to the front door.

“Good morning,” Mrs. Mallory said with a smile on her face. Melissa had her hand on the door knob and she was about to open it but Mrs. Mallory stopped her. “Oh wait, before you go your mother called.”

“Let me guess, she was upset that I forgot to call again,” Melissa asked.

“That's right,” Mrs. Mallory told her. “I swear, when you and Quinn are down there in that basement it's like you're in your own little world.”

Quinn and Melissa chuckled and Melissa spoke. “Well I wish I could stay and chat more Mrs. Mallory but I've got to get home and get ready for school.”

“Oh alright dear goodbye,” Mrs. Mallory said with a wave as Melissa walked out the front door.

“Bye,” Melissa said as she closed the door behind her.

“I like her,” Mrs. Mallory said as she took the bacon out of the frying pan and placed it on a plate.

“So do I,” Quinn said with a smile on his face as he fed his cat. "Which is why I asked her to marry me."

“Have you two set a wedding date yet,” Mrs. Mallory asked her son.

“No not yet,” Quinn said. “We've been really busy lately what with school and everything.”

“It's not just school it's whatever you and Melissa are working on in that basement of yours,” Mrs. Mallory told him. “I swear you are too much like your father. Up all night, working crazy hours, and look what happened to him. He worked himself to death.”

“Mom,” Quinn said as he turned around to face her. “Dad was hit by a car.”

“But he was on his way to work,” Mrs. Mallory reminded him. “That's my point. He had too much on his mind.”

“Better than too little,” Quinn joked.

Mrs. Mallory turned to her son and for a moment she looked like she was going to yell at him but stopped herself when she saw what he was wearing. “Is that the same shirt you had on yesterday?”

“What,” Quinn asked as he looked down at his shirt. “I took a shower.”

“Young man,” Mrs. Mallory said as she snapped him with a towel. “There's a clean pile of laundry on the dryer. Run down stairs and pick something.”

“Oh well it's about time you got to those,” Quinn teased. “That pile's been on my floor for a week. And when are you gonna make up my room?”

“You just watch it buster,” Mrs. Mallory said as she snapped him with the towel again. “Two more semesters and I'm turning this place into a bed and breakfast.”

“I got dibs on the basement,” Quinn told his mother as he opened the basement door and headed down.

“That's the only reason you're not on the streets already,” Mrs. Mallory called after him. “It'd take years to get rid of all that junk!”

Melissa opened the door to her house and she walked inside. When she entered the kitchen she saw that her mother and sister were awake. Her sister was about 23 years old. She had short brown hair and dark brown eyes. Her name was Wade Wells. A smile appeared on Wade's face when she saw her sister enter.

“Someone forgot to call again,” Wade teased. Their mom spun around and saw Melissa walk over to the fridge.

“Yes you did,” Mrs. Wells said when she saw her oldest daughter.

“I'm sorry mom,” Melissa said as she opened the fridge and took out a carton of orange juice.

“That's okay dear,” Mrs. Wells told her. “I know how you and Quinn can get. But if you're going to be late please try and remember to call so I don't worry.”

“Will do mom,” Melissa said as she poured herself some orange juice and rushed upstairs to her bedroom to get ready for school. She came downstairs ten minutes later with her hair pulled back into a pony tail and she was wearing a pink short sleeve shirt, black pants, and black high heeled leather boots.

“What are you and Quinn working on in that basement of his anyway,” Wade asked as she put her plate in the sink.

“Ah I can't tell you yet but you'll find out don't worry,” Melissa said as she patted her sister on the back and put her glass in the sink. She was about to leave the house when her mom stopped her.

“Aren't you going to have any breakfast,” Mrs. Wells asked.

“Sorry can't,” Melissa told her mom. “Quinn will be here in less than five minutes.”

“At least take some toast with you,” Mrs. Wells said.

Melissa sighed and she grabbed a piece of toast before leaving. “Bye,” Melissa said as she shut the front door. She took the last bite of her toast as Quinn pulled into her driveway. She rushed over to the passenger's side and she got in. After buckling her seat belt, Quinn backed out of the driveway and he started driving them to school.

“Can you believe it,” Quinn asked with a smile on his face as he glanced at his fiancee and then back to the road. “We discovered this weird wormhole thing while working on an anti-gravity machine. What do you think it is?”

“A weird wormhole thing,” Melissa joked causing Quinn to chuckle. “But seriously I have no clue.”

“What if it's like a gateway of some kind,” Quinn said as he parked in front of their school.

“It could be,” Melissa said as she and Quinn got out of the car and started making their way towards the college. “I can't wait to get back to the basement and run more tests on it.”

“Same here,” Quinn said.

As they were running towards the school, they saw an old man standing on top of a park bench talking to people as they passed him. “It's time to overthrow the chains of capitalist oppression. Communism will sweep the world. And the days of the US imperialist war machine are numbered.”

As Quinn and Melissa passed the old man he shouted to them causing them to stop for a moment. “Take head young people. Join the revolution or suffer the consequences.”

“Thanks for the warning,” Quinn said with a smile on his face causing Melissa to chuckle as they continued to run towards their school.

Quinn and Melissa sat in their desks at the front of the classroom barely listening to the lecture that Professor Arturo was giving them. Quinn was doodling on his notes and Melissa was staring out the window. They were both in deep thought about the vortex that they had recently discovered.

“As any reasonably intelligent single-celled organism can tell you...the largest symmetry group of a single Dirac field is,” Professor Arturo asked in his English accent as he looked around the room. All the students lowered their heads or sank into their chairs hoping not to be called by the Professor. “The silence is deafening,” Professor Arturo said. “Oh come along! Come along! You're supposed to be the brightest of the bright. The best there is. You are my students! Miss Zachery,” Professor Arturo asked as he looked at a young woman who shrugged her shoulders. “Montague,” Professor Arturo asked an older man who shook his head and went back to copying the notes on the blackboard. “Mr. Wing,” Professor Arturo asked a younger man who was sitting next to Quinn. He shrugged his shoulders and looked down at his book.

Professor Arturo turned his head and saw that Melissa was staring out the window. “Miss Wells,” Professor Arturo said rather loudly causing her to jump out of her daydreaming and turn to him. He then turned to Quinn and saw that he was still drawing. “And Mr. Mallory,” Professor Arturo said in the same loud voice causing Quinn to look up at the Professor. “I have devoted many years of my life honing my considerable intelligence so I could impart a subject this complex with lucidity,” Professor Arturo told the two. Quinn and Melissa glanced at each other before turning back to their Professor. “You two might at least do me the curtsies to pretend you are listening to me. I won't even bother to ask either of you the answer which is my dear babes in the wood,” Professor Arturo said as he walked to the blackboard. Quinn and Melissa turned to each other and mouthed U 4 at the exact same time that Professor Arturo said it and wrote it on the blackboard. “That's U 4 Mr. Bennish,” Professor Arturo said as he turned to a young man who was barely listening. “Not U 2. Ladies and gentlemen you disappoint me. Class dismissed.”

Quinn and Melissa grabbed their things and headed out of the classroom with Wing and Zachery.

“I should have gone to law school like my old man wanted,” Wing said as they walked down the hall. “This Relativistic Quantum pop cosmology is such a mind warp.”

“If you ask me, Professor Arturo's not nearly as smart as he thinks he is,” Zachery said as she glanced at Quinn and Melissa.

“Oh come on,” Melissa said as they came to the entrance of the school. “The man should be a Nobel Laureate for his theory on Coset Wormholes in Keller Oribifolds.”

“I agree with you there hon,” Quinn said. “I just read his thesis on Chiral Field Anomalies, it's killer.”

“That's not on the class list is it,” Zachery asked as she turned to Quinn.

“Nah just a little light reading,” Quinn said with a smile on his face as he walked out of the school.

“You should check it out,” Melissa told her as she followed Quinn. “It's pretty cool.”

Zachery chuckled and she followed Wing out of the school.

And that's the end of the first chapter. What's everyone think of Melissa being Wade's older sister and Quinn's fiancee? I thought that would be a cool idea. I'll have Chapter Two up soon. :)
