Chapter 1: Perfect
Mickie rolled over on her stomach, grabbing the picture frame on her nightstand, she looked at the table. There she stood, her boyfriends arms around her waist. He had the perfect shade of pale blond hair that was spiked up perfectly, the perfect shade of blue eyes, and a goofy smile that almost never lefts his lips. He was the perfect height, not to tall but not too short, but he easily loomed over her small 5’2 frame.
Yes. Mickie thought He is perfect.
Everyone including herself was surprised when he asked her out that sunny afternoon, at lunch time. It was two months into freshman year when he did it. Sure she was adorable with her curly honey colored hair, big brown eyes and petite frame, cute even but nothing special. Not like any of his other girlfriends before, with their tall slender figures. They were all stunning. So she never understood what he saw in her, but whatever it was she was grateful.
And tomorrow would be their one year anniversary.
Putting the picture back on the nightstand, Mickie rolled over on her back staring at the bright blue ceiling.
Her phone ringed a familiar ring tone, interrupting her thoughts.
“Hey baby.” a familiar voice said as she answered the phone.
“Hey Jerky.” she said a grin in her voice, almost seeing the pout on his lips.
“What are you doing, baby?” he asked.
Mickie let out a bored sight “Nothing, being bored out of my mind.”
Chris laughed “Your not thinking of me.”
“I have better things to do with my time.” Mickie said.
“I’m hurt.” he said.
They continued talking like they did every time he called. And he always called at round four in the afternoon. To Mickie it seemed that they talked about the same things over and over again. Finally they decided on him coming over.
“Bye see you in a few, baby.” he said before adding “Love you.”
“Bye.” Mickie said but couldn’t bring herself to say ‘I love you’ like she had so many times before.
Hanging out Mickie smoothed out her clothes, trying to tame her curls. She left her room heading for the living room.
She looked around the empty place, since her parents were out and would be back in about three hours.
But it was okay for Chris to be over, they trusted him with their baby-girl.
She walked into the kitchen making popcorn, and grabbing some rinks before walking back into the living room placing the stuff on the coffee table.
The tiny brunette sat on the cream colored couch, turning on the TV and flipping the channels. Finally settled down watching the new Disney Channel show Sunny With A Chance.
A knock interrupted her mid laugh. Standing up, Mickie opened the door reveling a blond guy. “Hey.”
Chris leaned down kissing her, like the perfect gentleman. Grabbing Mickie’s small hand in his he leaned them to the couch were they sat.
Standing back up Mickie went to pop a movie in.
“Again?” Chris asked as the movie started.
Mickie pouted tilting her head “But you know how much I love this movie.”
Chris nodded making himself comfortable to watch the Pride and Prejudice… again. He could never resist Mickie’s pout and head tilt.
Mickie grinned bringing the bowl of popcorn on her lap. Sometimes she whished they had an argument over something stupid like her friends did with their boyfriends. But Chris never did that he always agreed with her. Mickie needed someone to challenge her spunky attitude.
The movie ended an hour and forty minutes later to the pleasure of Chris. And her parents had yet to arrive. But it was still early only 6 o’clock.
“So.” Mickie said.
“So.” Chris echoed.
“You ready for tomorrow?” Mickie asked. Tomorrow would be Monday which meant back to school.
“Y2J is ready for anything.” he said using the ridiculous nickname he had been giving in middle school.
Mickie smiled “If you say so.”
“I do.” Chris said with a smile leaning in to kiss her.
Just then the door opened. Chris leaned away.
“Hi Mickie, Chris.” her mom, the small brunette said.
Mickie stood up going to hug her mom, before hugging her dad.
“Hello Mr. and Mrs. James.” he said politely kissing Mrs. James on the cheek and shaking Mr. James hand.
Mickie tried not to roll her eyes at the display, of course her parents loved Chris. Just like the rest of their entire town did.
But Mickie wasn’t sure she did anymore.
