Disclaimer: I do not own Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice, or any of the games or characters. They belong to their respective owners.
A/N: I'm making a rough guess that the Judge is in his 80's. The judge should be in his 20's in the flashbacks.
I watched from atop my chair and looked down at the courtroom my courtroom. The stands were filled with onlookers. In front of me were three people; Phoenix Wright, Miles Edgeworth, and the defendant. The defendant, much like many before him, was accused of murder. Quite unfortunately, I had forgotten the name. My old age is getting to me.
I heard Phoenix speak to me "Your honor." I turned my attention to him. "My client, Jay Cent, could not have been there that night!"
Ah, his name was Jay Cent. "Hmm...Jay...I was once called J back in my day" I said without thinking.
"Yes well…" Phoenix said a little confused at my random statement "…this evidence proves that he was in his room on the night of the murder."
I looked at the defendant from my prosecutor bench. The trial was over. Of course, it was over the moment he started his killing spree. For the past few weeks there was a rash of female murders. It had been determined that they were done by the same person. The murders were so grisly, that police had withheld most information, so any possibility of a copycat crime was nil. All the evidence pointed to the defendant. I looked at the judge, who addressed the courtroom.
"I have seen enough. There is no room for error. I will pass my verdict now. The defendant is found, for the crime of multiple murder and assault, guilty. That is all. Court is adjourned."
I walked out of the courtroom with a smile on my face. A horrible man had been put behind bars. How could I not be ecstatic? My hand reached into my pocket to retrieve my keys. I walked up to my car, entered it, and drove her off to Daisy's house.
When I pulled up to her house, Daisy walked out of the door, obviously very ready for our date. Her yellow dress blew softly in the wind. I exited my car, and opened the passenger door for her.
"Thank you J." Daisy said, brushing her brunette hair out of her eyes. She gave me a peck on the cheek as she entered the passenger seat. "So, where are we off to tonight?"
I responded "Oh, just wait. You're going to enjoy it."
*The next morning*
I awoke to the phone ringing. I regretfully decided that I should answer it, rather than let it ring. I rolled over on my bed, sat up, and grabbed the phone on my nightstand. I answered it with a rather unpleasant "Hello?"
"J?" It was Daemon Gant, the detective in charge of the investigation, or more accurately Damon Gant sr. ever since he had his son. "Listen J, you're not going to like this."
"What is it?" I answered groggily.
"J…the killer struck again." Gant said.
"What! But, he was just sentenced yesterday. He should be behind bars now."
"Well it looks like you got the wrong guy. A new victim just surfaced, and she matches the MO. Listen, I've…uh…got some more bad news."
"Do I want to hear it?"
"No, you don't, but you're going to find out sooner or later, your choice."
"All right, fine. Tell me now."
"It's about the victim. It's…Daisy…"
I was speechless. All I could utter in response was "…Oh my god."
Gant tried to console me. "Listen; is there anything I can do?"
I walked to the wall and leaned my body against it. "No, that's fine, thanks."
"Ok, I'll have a report for you by the end of the day." He hung up.
I slumped to the floor, head in my hands.
*Present day*
I remember that day. We had eventually found the real killer, and he was pronounced guilty. It was that moment that changed my life forever. I became much more precise in my investigations, and eventually I became a Judge as a result of years of work.
"Umm…your honor…did you hear a word I just said?" uttered the defense lawyer.
