"So what do you think of the new kid?" Angela asked her at lunch, the news of a transfer student spreading like wildfire throughout the school. Not much happened in the small town of Forks, and when it did everyone knew about it.
I shrugged, glancing at Edward and Alice who by the looks of their faces were having a mental conversation. She had felt edgy around Edward lately, feeling like if she turned around he would disappear. But that was ridiculous; they loved each other... right?
Edward was far too close handed for her to be able to tell what their relationship was like. Hell, they barely hit second base and they had been dating for a year. It was not like she was a slut or anything, but it was annoying having to constantly initiate any intimate moments.
She briefly saw the transfer student this morning. Average height, but wild black slick hair, and strangely mesmerizing eyes, she shook herself out of the strange recollections, the bell ringing, and Edward getting up, waiting for her.
They walked to English class in a bit of an awkward silence, Edward's mind thinking, but leaving Isabella Swan alone to herself's entertainment.
As they walked in to the class and sat down in their usual chairs in the back corner, Bella noticed what she expected the transfer student walking into the class, a hood up, hiding his features. "Mr. Potter?... Yes, well good to have you, and take down your hoodie, please." Mr. Spitz said motioning for him to sit down on the other side of the class, in the middle of the class.
He pulled down his hoodie, and in shock the entire class stared at him. He was... well... beautiful. Slick, coal hair, flipped across his head, but in an unmanageable style, perfect green orbs that looked strangely... lost? There was not a blemish, or any such thing on his face, almost the same comparison as Edwards', he had round glasses, but if anything that just made his face look so much more complete.
Unfortunately, he sat down, hiding himself once more from Bella's curious investigations.
"Today we will be talking about Shakespeare in Romeo and Juliet. Please pull it out and read..."
The class passed slowly, Edward and her arguing quietly in hushed undertones.
"...How about... ? Can you recite the most romantic lines here?" Mr. Spitz asked, referring to Bella's favorite romantic play, playing on the movie they were watching about playing out Romeo and Juliet. Edward called it stupid, and idealistic, saying that in the want of the other, they killed themselves. She did not care. It was romantic.
Shaking her head at Edward's explanation, she watched the new kid, Harry.
He stood up, then in a slightly distinguished British accent, said in a tone that made the girl sigh, and the men, take notes, "One fairer than my love? The all-seeing sun. Ne'er saw her match since first the world begun. Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight!. For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night. What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet."
"Yes, well, good job ." Mr. Spitz said excited at having a potential prodigy. Harry nodded, and sat back down, the girls sending him off handed smiles, making mental notes to get to know the still mysterious boy.
"...But that does not explain why you do not think it is romantic." Bella said, once the distraction started back up in a hushed tone.
"...It is sadistic, and hedonistic. Nothing more. Your wrong, Bella. Charlie met the guy. I can tell you he was a bit full of himself." Edward argued back, still half heartedly than normal.
If she had to name one thing wrong with their relationship, other than the interracial issue, it would be the fact that Edward WAS ALWAYS right. 'I want ice cream.' 'How about an apple?' 'I feel like watching a movie.' 'How about the spanish homework?'
"Whats been wrong with you guys lately?" I asked, still annoyed at his lack of understanding of her view on the world.
He said nothing, turning to look out the window.
