She sits at the dresser wearing the funeral gown she likes to wear to bed; that is when she wants to wear anything at all. She is brushing her hair and as he enters the room and greets her with a kiss he notices she has already wiped her make up off. Like this she looks somehow both younger and older. Slightly vulnerable but still alluring. In truth this is the way he likes her appearance best as he knows it is a look that only he is privileged enough to see. It had been a long week and as he sits on the bed and begins to take off his watch he lets out a small sigh of exhaustion.

"So where is he?" She places the brush down and turns to him with an enquiring look.

"Who?" His tired brain begins to consider who she might mean.

"Gibbs! You promised." She pouts a little and gives him the look that can make him do almost anything. He suddenly realises what she is referring to but is too tired to put up with her games.

"I forgot Abs." He tries to sound sorry but fails to do so. This after all had been her idea and although he wanted nothing more than her happiness he had to confess to still not being entirely comfortable with the idea of sharing their bed and her with another.

"You forgot!" her voice rises to an almost unbearable pitch. "You forgot!"

"Yes" he responds simply.

"But you agreed. You know how I feel about this. I sleep so much better with him here and anyway you promised."

"Abs it's late and you know what this week has been like. Can't we do this tomorrow?"

The look she gives him cuts straight to his heart.

"I guess so." She gets into bed and turns her back on him.

"No. I'm sorry. I did promise. I'll go and get him now if you really want me to."

She sits up and grins wickedly at him. "Oh you know I do."

"On it Boss." He kisses her on the cheek as he leaves.

A short time later.

He enters the room to find her sitting up in bed reading.

"Is he here? Is he here? Is he here?"

"All the way from NCIS just for you" he responds smiling at her enthusiasm. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all he thinks.

"BERT!" she squeals as Gibbs produces him from behind his back and hands him to her. The light shining from her eyes and the look she gives him definitely made the trip back to work worth it.

"Thanks so much Jethro. How can I thank you?"

"Oh, I'm sure we'll think of something" he replies as he begins to undress.

Looking up at him with a mischievous grin she agrees "I'm sure we will."

There might be three in the bed that night but there would only ever be one in her heart.
