Sort of a poem version of the 'Dear Jethro' letter. My first poem! Jenny's thoughts on her regrets and lost love. Jibbs obviously!

This is another version of the poem I wrote that's not for NCIS, but my own version. I actually kinda like it better than the other one, though it is shorter, and I thought I should share!
If tonight I die
I need you to know
How it pains me to say good-bye
How I love you so
I regret that we ended
I left you behind
I wasn't brave enough to stay
So I said goodbye
You tried to make it right
I wish I had seen
When we met again
How happy we could be
I saw your loving glances
The little things you did
Didn't think it could be real
After the way I hid
For how could you still love me?
After all I've done to you
But now I realize-
Loving someone despite the hurt
That's what makes true love true
I remember the good times
I hold them so dear
And you'll never see
The times they cause tears
I don't know if you'll ever know
How much you mean to me
We will never be together
But always meant to be
