"I told that fool what an imbecilic plan this was."
Faina was seated before Anita's vanity table with her legs crossed and arms rested on the table top. Genuine disgust flared within the rubies mounted onto her pale face as she stared into the large mirror and examined her 'costume.'
"He's always jumping at the chance for easy money. He's an idiot for thinking this would have worked."
She clawed woody shavings away from the table and watched them float precariously into the floor below. A voice echoed around the stage above,
"I'll do whatever it takes, Aika. I'll see what's beyond the sunset and more!"
His nasally obnoxious voice was music to her ears. He was a brilliant actor, she had to admit. But his heart was set on her sexier counterpart, Anita. She could tell by the way he reacted to her teases and provocative invitations. Of course, the pair never engaged in any serious activities; They just enjoyed playing with the other's emotions.
Faina was expected to act entirely different. Her heart was supposedly stone and an impenetrable barrier surrounded her whole being. No one could ever guess what she was thinking. Everything she said had a double meaning.
Her slender fingers suddenly tightened into a fist and pounded a crater into the wooden table. She lurched forward, groaning and biting her painted lips,
"I should have left him by now! Why can't I leave?!"
Her thoughts turned to her double, the real Silvite, Fina. To some extent, she envied the ignorant girl. Free to show emotion and be with the man she admired so much.
"I'm just her alternative."
It was finally out into the open air. Faina collapsed into the chair and buried her face into the table. What was wrong with being yourself?
