'You fucking what?' Sands all but screamed at he stood forcefully from his seat, sending the chair spinning away across the balcony from beneath him, and moving to tower above Beth's fear ridden form, which was now shaking uncontrollably.

'Shel, calm down, I was going to tell you, I was, I promise ye!' she stuttered getting up from her own chair and stumbling backwards through the open French doors into the bedroom.

'Like Fuck were you! You fucking Weasel! You lied to me.' He shouted his handsome features twisting into an ugly grimace as he followed her into the room by the sound of her hurried, timid footsteps. His features were hardened and filled with hate, but as Beth looked at him she swore if she could see his eyes, they would be deep, dark pools of hurt and swirling emotion. 'You know that's not true Shel, You never asked about what's happened in my life Shel! I didn't lie to you because it never even came up!' she said almost calmly, trying to relax him as he stalked towards her. He raised his arms above his head and flexed his fingers in the air, the leather of his gloves squeaking with the movement. Her eyes filled with tears, as she fell back onto the bed, grabbing one of the soft white pillows, burying her face in it, and finally letting the tears of pain and worry out of her mouth in a howl, the noise muffled by the plush material.

Sands stopped in his tracks towards her, when he heard her strangled cry, even though it was muffled by something. The sound broke his heart, he had always hated it when she cried, and now he was the cause of it, yet again, I thought I'd stopped doing shit like this when I left. He thought to himself as he sighed and tried to feel his way to her, his hands aimlessly groping the air around him as he made his way to her side.

'Stop Beth, Stop crying!' he ordered as he found her body slumped on the bed shaking violently from the tears wracking her small frame.

'Cad a bheadh déanta agat ar aon nós? Cad ba mhaith leat le teaghlach? Má tá tú amhlaidh damanta maith ar do chuid féin!' She screamed at him, her words choking on her tears that were lodging in her eyes and the lump welling in her throat.

She shook off his hand that was resting on her back in what she would have normally thought was a protective and caring gesture. Sands gritted his teeth and shook his head trying to grab her chin to make her look at him but she kept squirming out of his grip. 'Beth, love, you know I can't understand you if you speak in that language!' he said, his voice now an ocean of calm, trying to pass the feeling onto her and comfort her.

'She asked what would you have done anyway. And what would you want with a family if you're so damned good on your own?' came El's lilting Mexican accent from the French doors the pair had previously entered through. He was stood hidden from the outside slightly by the curtain and his eyes were fixed on something out in the street. 'It looks like we have company, grab your guns.' He whispered as he backed up until he was next to the two huddled people. Casting a glance at them, he saw Beth's watery brown eyes thanking him for understanding her language and a sour look of distain upon Sand's face.

Sands swallowed the bile that had risen in his throat at the words she had spoken. He had never wanted a family; they always get in the god damned way, even his twin sisters who were thankfully at home in America, or so he thought. The thought of Beth hiding the face she had given birth to his himself she probably didn't tell him because he was so emotionally unavailable, and he would hate the children.

Would I hate my own children? He asked himself as he stroked a gloved finger of his chin in thought. No, how could I? They're only children, I don't even know their names or what they look like ... but I'll never know what they look like. He though wearily as he wrapped his arms around Beth's waist pulling her up off the bed into a standing position pressed against his chest. She was still crying and he held her head against his heart as she cried salty tears, soaking a patch through his dark shirt.

'Beth, it's ok, I'm sorry, I wish you'd told me, that's all.' He whispered in her ear, rocking her gently as she sobbed. She was the only person he had ever treated like a princess and shown her his true emotions, and it made him feel weak, but he couldn't help acting that way around her. She looked up from his chest and into his dark sunglasses, a faint smile on her lips. She paused for a second thinking about her next move, before going up on her tip toes and pressing her plump, soft lips to his in a loving kiss. The kiss took Sands by surprise and he moved a hand to the back of her head holding her in place as he dragged his tongue over her lips wanting to explore the warmth of her mouth. The couple were broken from their contact by El tapping Sands on the shoulder.

'What Fuckmook?' Sands scowled in El's direction. The Mexican shook his head and thrust a gun into the CIA agent's hands, 'They're here Sands, they're going to bust the door down, do you want to be a sitting target?'

Sands shrugged and replied reaching out for Beth but she was gone from his embrace. He heard the snapping of a gun cartridge and guessed she was arming herself ready for the ambush. 'I'll be a fucking sitting duck anyway man! Bring on those fuckers!'

As the words left his mouth their hotel room door burst open revealing 7 Mexican men in all black, carrying hefty guns, and twisted evil looks on their faces as the opened fire. Sands El and Beth ducked behind the bed, missing the flying bullets. 'Ready Señorita?' El asked as he cocked his gun and nodded at her, her long curls bouncing about her face, a sly smile edging across her lips as she cocked her gun as well and the pair leapt up leaving Sands knelt by their feet. Bullets flew around the room, Beth and El dodging the ones coming their way and taking down several of the men before them. Sands rolled his eyes fed up, and jumped up wielding his pistol and listening carefully for the heavy footsteps of the enemy. He smirked as he fired his gun, the bullet instantly piercing the chest of one of the men before him.

'What, uh, what are their names?' Sands asked tipping his head slightly towards Beth. Her eyebrows rose momentarily as she cast a quick look in Sands' direction, still shooting for her moving targets.

'Aoife and Cora' she said ducking back behind the bed reloading clips into her gun. She stood once again, but felt a white hot pain as the bullet pierced her skin.

The blood drained from Sands' face as he heard her whimper of pain and a thump as she fell to the floor.
