She wonders if that's normal.

But then, they've never been normal.

Sometimes when she's watching him with Rebecca, she sees this faraway look in his eyes, and it's almost like he's been here before. But she always shakes her head and pushes the thoughts away. If he had, she'd know.

But there are things he still doesn't talk about. Like what happened that long weekend: why he slipped up. He had eleven years, and then he didn't.

She doesn't know what his life was before her; she can't help but wonder why.
