Liza On My Mind

I get off the airplane, and she's there waiting for me. My Liza. At first, she doesn't see me and I just look at her for awhile. She's more beautiful then I remember, her short chestnut hair curling around the back of her ears.

Then she turns to me and the gorgeous smile of hers crosses her lips. I can't help but smile back. Liza stands and starts toward me. Her slow walk turns into a run within seconds.I drop my bags and sweep Liza into an embrace, one I've been waiting for for six long months. God, how I've missed her.

"Annie," she says to me. I notice the tears filling her eyes. They fall down her cheek and I use my thumb to gently wipe them away.

"Why are you crying?" I ask.

"I'm just so happy," she replies, smiling still. I hug her again, glad at last to be with my Liza.
