Kovu's Goodbye

There is a land called Upendi
Somewhere far away from here
While I was there I picked this flower
I place it now behind your ear.

Some day, though now we're torn apart
There'll be a home for you and me
Until then, promise you'll recall
There is a land called Upendi.

You know I'd never harm the King.
My scarred eye can't restrain a tear
I'm driven from the one I love
Somewhere far away from here.

Sweet memories will comfort me
They haunt my every waking hour:
I wandered in a dream with you.
While I was there I picked this flower.

Its red is pale beside your fire
Its lovely scent is not as dear
As your sweet perfume is to me.
I place it now behind your ear.

There is a land called Upendi
Somewhere far away from here
While I was there I picked this flower
I place it now behind your ear.
