Just another one-shot… I was bored as hell so here you go.
This Is The Stuff History Is Made Of
The ground was hot even with shoes, but Claire didn't care. Albert's screams echoed in her head, and immediately she demanded that they land the chopper.
Chris was against her idea, rocket launcher ready on his shoulder. Claire wouldn't take an argument right now.
They landed the chopper and Claire ran to the edge of the lave pool. Uroboros started to snake up her pale arms, grasping onto her for dear life. She pulled it out of the lava, its creator with it.
Once Albert was on the rock, she knelt down by his side. She put his head in her lap, the sticky tendrils dripping off. His eyes were closed, breathing shallow.
"Don't leave me, Albert. I need you…"
Chris, Sheva, and Jill watched from afar, Chris was planted where he stood. Much too awestruck to run after Claire and end the Tyrant's life where he lay.
Claire proceeded to brush away the black marks across his face, only to realize that they were some kind of burnt on tattoo. She brushed his unscathed hair from his face, and very lightly ran her fingers down his cheek.
She sniffled. "Albert, you always told me that living in fear was unwise. I've grown out of fear… I threw it all away so I didn't have to worry anymore because you told me that I would never have to. But now… as you lay here in state that only God knows what's going on, that fear came back… fear for what is going to happen to you… to us." Claire spoke to him quietly, her voice just a whisper.
Albert stirred, eyes moving under closed eyelids. He groaned, and tried to sit up. When that failed, his eyes snapped open, blood-red, confusion registered in them; confusion and somewhat of a lost hope.
"Albert…" Claire whispered.
He reached up and stroked Claire's face, he started to speak, his voice hoarse and exhausted. "Claire… I'm so sorry. I didn't want this. For the first time in my life, Claire, I'm afraid. I disposed of this feeling so long ago that I have forgotten what it feels like. And it's… painful, painful to know how human I actually am. I tried to rid myself of my humanity for so long that I don't know what its like to feel feelings, but now… I feel… so human."
Claire shook her head. "Don't apologize… this wasn't your fault."
Albert started to chuckle, but it turned into a fit of coughing and spittle's of blood. "No, this was my entire fault; don't deny the inevitable, Dearheart. It's a shame that it has to end like this. But no matter what happens… Claire Redfield, I will always love you unconditionally, and with such a heart, that so many thought didn't exist. I don't want to die… for real this time. But death cannot be stopped. It's like a train, and this is the train wreck." Albert gently brought Claire's face towards his; he planted his last, soft kiss on her lips. And his last dying breath escaped his lungs.
Claire took a deep breath and laid Albert's head down on the rock, and closed his eyes. She stood up on shaky legs and stumbled back to Chris. As she boarded the helicopter without a word, she took one last glance at the dead body of her friend, her enemy, and the man she loved with the utmost passion.
Albert Wesker always used to say that no matter how far you ran; no matter how fast you escaped… history would catch your name and make it into what history was really made of. Many books will be written in blood, and the infamous name that is Albert Wesker will always be remembered whether we have stepped inches from the page we were on, or have traveled miles from the place we left to leave behind.
A/N I really love this one. That last paragraph I totally made up. I just thought that that's something he would say. Hope you liked it! R&R!
