AN:Okay just to let you guys know this is my very first HawthoRNe fic and it is Candy/Ray. This takes place the day after Mother's Day or the episode you know as when the mom left her baby in the car and died. It is still at Richmond Trinity Hospital. They are working the night shift. So please tell me what you think if it sucks or if it's any good.

Christina had just left as well as Bobbie and Tom. The only three nurses that were working were Candy, Ray and Kelly. Candy and Ray were having a conversation while Kelly left to the supply closet to get more rubber gloves.

"Hey Ray how many times have you worked this shift?"Candy asked just finishing a paper.

"Not that much I usually work during the day because I can't sleep during the day I'm not really used to it. How do you do it?"Ray asked looking up.

"I like working during the night because it's quiet and not as busy."she said before a short, young, mexican girl with brown hair and light brown eyes limped into the ER crying. Candy looked at Ray before they both came over to her. Kelly ran in to attend to the teenager. They took her to a hospital bed.

"Hi my name is Candy I'll be your nurse. What is your name?"Candy asked.

"Vanessa."the young girl replied.

"That's such a pretty name. And your last name?"she said with a smile on her face.

"Martinez."she said wiping the tears from her face.

"So what seems to be the problem?"Candy asked noticing Vanessa's pain.

"Well it really hurts to sit down and the side of my thigh hurts. Can I stand up?"she asked moving on the bed uncomfortably.

"I'm sorry but I have to examine you on the bed. Can you tell me how it happened?"Candy asked staring at her.

"I um fell down the stairs. I tripped over my shoe. I knew I should've picked it up but I was too tired earlier. "she replied looking at the floor. Candy had a real bad feeling that this wasn't an accident.

"Okay can you put this hospital gown on so I can examine your injuries?"she asked holding the gown up for her. Vanessa accepted it.

"Okay open the curtains when you're done okay?"she said as Vanessa nodded. Candy closed the curtains.

"Ray, Kelly come here. I think that girl is being abused."she stated.

"What did she say her injuries were caused by?"Ray asked as Candy filled out the girl's form.

"She said she fell down the stairs on her shoe. Do you buy it?"Candy looked up from the form and saw both Kelly and Ray shake their heads.

"Should we call Christina?"she saw Ray shake his head.

"Wait until you examine her injuries then see."he said before Candy heard the curtains being opened. She nodded her head before going over to Vanessa. She closed the curtain behind her.

"Does it hurt here?"Candy questioned as she pressed down the body. Vanessa said 'yes' at her legs and her butt. Candy noticed her wince in pain at the touch of her back,shoulders and stomach so she wrote that down also.

"I'm going to have to call your mom-"she was cut off by Vanessa.

"Please don't!"she begged.

"I'll be right back okay?"Candy left to speak with Ray and Kelly. Vanessa looked over to where Candy went.

"I think the mom is abusing her."Candy told them.
