Falling Through Time
I finished my lunch, frowning. Professor McGonagall had sent me a really odd owl.
Please come to my office as soon as possible.
I wonder what she wants…. I mused as I meandered down the corridors, eventually coming to the stone gargoyle. "Chilli." It spun, and I walked up the moving stairs, heading to the top. I knocked lightly on the door.
"Come in." I opened the door and stepped in, smiling at my mentor. She smiled back, but there was something grave about her features. She was fiddling with something under the desk and I frowned at her. "Sit down." I did as she said.
"So…. What am I needed for?"
"Something bad is happening Hermione. And I need you to do something for me." I saw a glint of gold, and suddenly a Time-Turner was thrown around my neck. Time hurtled around me, and the last thing I heard was a whispered "Sorry."
I landed in the middle of a dark field, and looked around groggily. Turns out time-travelling really takes it out of you. Anyway, it was dark, and raining, and I was miserable already, which didn't help when someone appeared from nowhere and started waving a wand at me. "Get off me land!" I listened to him, and apparated to the first place I thought of, which just so happened to be Dumbledore's office. He was sitting behind his desk, and beaming at me.
"Give me answers, NOW! What year is it, why am I here, and what are you going to do about it. And how did I get in?"
"Hermione sit down." He gestured to one of the chairs, but I ignored him.
"Give me answers!"
He sighed. "This is the time of the Marauders. They are currently in their 7th Year. You're meant to be here. And I knew you were coming, so I lowered the wards."
"So how did you manage to send me back this far? And what am I meant to be doing?"
"Professor McGonagall and me managed to alter the usual time turner, and just follow your heart dearie. Though we will need to make slight altercations to your personality to make you more Slytherinish."
"Wait, you're going to change my personality?"
"Yup." He beamed happily at me. "You may find you like it."
I rolled my eyes. "When does term start?"
"Tomorrow. So, we should start making the changes now!" He walked quickly round to me, and began casting some very complex spells. When he had stopped waving his wand, I rolled on the balls of my feet. "So…. What was that meant to do?"
"Oh, suddenly you won't be wearing your heart on your sleeve all the time. It was quite easy actually as you can be very sly and sneaky at times. Oh, and you have black hair. Anyway, you're Head Girl, and I'll have Fawkes show you to where you're staying. There will be clothes waiting for you." He waved a hand, and Fawkes took off. I shook my head in bemusement, and then followed the phoenix out the door.
He led me to a barren corridor in the dungeons somewhere, and cawed at the dragon statue in front of it. It came to life, unfolding its wings, then spoke in a gravelly voice "You may set the password." I cocked my head to the side, deep in thought.
Then a smile lit up my face. "Schkolade Kuchen." The statue nodded its head, before swirling away from the entrance, which was a black door with silver dragons engraved into it. I gasped at the intricate beauty of it, and reached out a hand to trace it, but the door sprang open at my touch.
The inside was decorated in a mix of silver, greens, purples, and blues, a large sofa in the middle with soft armchairs all around it, a glass coffee table, and large bookcases on the walls, which were already stack with books. I couldn't wait to get my hands on them. There were also 5 doors leading off from the main room, one green with snakes engraved into it, one blue with koi, one red with phoenixes, one yellow with sphinxes, and the last was purple with cats on. I rushed over to the purple door, and opened to reveal a bedroom with a double four-poster bed, with draperies, and a bedside table, wardrobe, and dresser. I investigated inside the wardrobe and found a bunch of Slytherin uniforms, and groaned. There were also a pair of green dress robes, which I could just tell were going to be clingy and have snakes embroidered on them. I hung my head, but traipsed out the room and went to the one with the red door. It had a simple bathroom inside. The yellow door had a small kitchenette, but the blue and green doors didn't open. I guessed they were for the Head Boy.
Everything that had just happened suddenly crashed down on me like a wave, and I felt so tired, so I headed back to my bedroom, threw myself on the bed, and fell into an uneventful sleep straight after.
