Hello. My name is Lydia, and I am an Alpha Plus. This is a written recording of the major events of my life up to this point, sent back a few hundred years so you could read it...and not make those mistakes.
Why an Alpha Plus, I hear you ask? It's a good rank, I hear you ask, but wouldn't Alpha Double Plus be better? I have no choice but to laugh. Alpha Plus is the best rank of all. Alpha Double Pluses must do such complicated, horrible things. They have far too much power. Alpha Plus has the perfect amount of power, enough to do all these things I've done, but not so much that it's problematic. The lower castes, of course, are quite stupid and weak. Why one would associate with them...why? Oh, why oh why. Though there are much less of them, now that I've done my job.
I'm forty years old now, and not a wrinkle on my skin. My bright red hair looks as good as it ever will, and the purplish eyes that come from working with the fetuses, babies, and younger children are still bright and clear. I was mostly in my twenties when this happened, some of it was in my early thirties, but we don't age like you. It's a great thing, really. Very great.
Someone else you'll see pop up here a lot is a friend of mine. Lori, another Alpha Plus. We've known each other since decantation, almost. Oversees the Park Lane Hospital For The Dying. And she...knows things. Too many. So...well...let's see, shall we?
