Heart's a Mess: Author's Note

STORY STUFF: Songfic! Based on Gotye's beautiful "Heart's a Mess" – I totally recommend listening to it (on repeat, even) while reading this. The lyrics have a lot of meaning to the story. Hell, just listen to it, period – sooo emo-good :P

I was inspired to write this one – you're not going to believe this – after reading some random depressing article about Lindsay Lohan throwing a drink at someone, or getting in a catfight at a club, or something. It got me thinking about the lives of starlets like her, and what a bizarre, emotionally stunting experience that can be…constantly surrounded by people, yet somehow attention-starved.

I also went to college in Los Angeles, so anyone who's from there, this is a bit of a belated love letter to the city (that I was never loaded enough to enjoy properly while I was there :P)

The POV switches back and forth a little bit, so I denoted perspectives as either Kunzite or Minako. Finally, this story also features graphic sex, booze, drug use, and plenty of bad words.
