The rest of that day was quiet. She kept to her house doing small paper work and going to bed early, she needed it. It was the next day, waking up early and a new case, that was the problem. She had a vase of flowers on her desk waiting for her, and something told her they were from Ben. She sighed and walked off to the kitchen to grab a cup of coffee. It was going to be a long day.
"Hey Annie." She heard Jimmy say from behind her. She turned around to see him with an eyebrow quirked up.
"Hey Jimmy, how was you're weekend?" She asked, hoping he wouldn't question hers, or the flowers on her desk.
"Good, yours?" He replied, she didn't know how to answer, if she told him what had really happened, then she was in trouble. Jimmy was like a brother to her.
"It was slow, just stayed home and did some paperwork." She answered, avoiding Jimmy's eyes.
"Yea. Sure. You stayed home doing paperwork the entire weekend and someone gave you flowers for it, so who they from?" He questioned. Why he always have to be so smart, especially about her. Technically she didn't know who they were from, she never checked the card right?
"Don't know, didn't check." She responded, with that Jimmy ran out of the office with her following right behind him telling him to stop towards the flowers and quickly snatched the card and held it above his head, out of her reach reading it.
Dear Cupcake, Meet me at the bar tonight at ten, I've got another surprise for you. -B
"B? B as in Ben? Ben the bounty hunter? You have got to be kidding me Annie! He's ridiculous, he only wants to get you in bed, I can't believe you would ever date this fool-" He started, and she didn't want to hear it.
"I'm not dating Ben, Jimmy. And as far as I'm concerned, my love life is my personal business and I will not have you tell me who I am and am not allowed to date." She rolled off her tongue, angry seeping through her veins.
"Annie-" Was all he got out before Daisy came in. Folder in hand.
"We got a case, um, is this a bad time?" She asked questioningly looking at our faces and our obvious frustration.
"No. You got perfect timing." She said walking calmly towards the conference room followed by Daisy and Jimmy to meet with Marco and Luke. Annie picked up the folder and studied it quickly before turning to the projector behind her filling in blanks as she talked.
"We have here a guy that goes by the name of Charles Brawly, he's five foot seven brown eyes and dirty blond hair, 30 years old. He gets into people's houses acting like a delivery guy with a huge box, and then kills the entire family, but taking nothing. Its always a family with an older son and a younger daughter in their teens. Parents are killed in their room first, then the son, then the daughter last. He's killed 16 people already, latest family was the McCrae family in Westfield, Texas, daughter and son went to Westfield High School. His mother died in childbirth and his father was in and out of jail his entire life and he lived with his aunt. We need to find this guy quickly. First stop, Aunt's house her name's Carissa Brawly. Daisy and Marco with me, Luke and Jimmy in the other car, be careful, this guy has more than one gun and will shoot you without hesitation." She finished quickly. They all froze for a second before continuing their actions of packing up. Annie slid in the shotgun seat with Daisy driving and Marco in the back, focused on researching Brawly.
"So Annie, or shall I say Cupcake?" Daisy said with a smirk on her face.
"Who else knows about that?" She groaned in frustration, she hadn't moved the flowers yet either, so even more people would see them. Why didn't she think to move them?
"Who doesn't?" Marco replied. Annie didn't bother to turn around and it was silent for the rest of the ride. They pulled up to a reddish color house on a small street. Jimmy pulled up behind them and they all got out they're guns from the back.
"Wait, hold back there's movement. Stay behind the cars everybody." Annie instructed.
"Doors opening, tall male six foot brown hair coming out. Not our guy." Somebody stated on the radio. Annie took a quick peak around the corner to see Ben walking nonchalantly walking down the pathway.
how was that? all the names and towns are made up, pretty sure theirs no Westfield in Texas, but yea. Review so I know I'm doing. Next chapter up as soon as possible.
