Summary: "The worst part of loving someone untouchable, unreachable, is knowing that they'll never truly love you back. Gale/OC.
We are at the heart of every fairytale, behind every prince and princess, lurking behind the curtains or in the shadows.
The heartbroken; the losers. There's another side to every love story.
The guy gets the girl. The girl gets the guy. But what about that one person who doesn't get anyone? What about them?
Their stories never get told. They don't get their happily ever after, their celebrations and their walking-off-into-the-sunset-moments.
But this story is just waiting to be told. Because this is where two heartbroken find each other. Then, what happens when they meet the heartbreakers? Chaos, you think? The thing is, people say that time heals wounds, but that's not true, not really. It has some meaning, I guess, but everyone who needs to be healed knows that love speeds up the process.
The heartbroken and the losers. They might finally get the love story they've dreamed about. It might be with somebody unexpected, somebody they think they hate, but inside, the hate is just a way of shielding their heart. A reflex, if you will.
Because the heartbroken know that the worst part of loving someone untouchable, unreachable, is knowing that they'll never truly love you back.
Who are these people that I talk about? Who are the watchers from the distance, the besotted? Well, Gale Hawthorne had to pick his life up in District Two. He just didn't know that they one thing he needed loved the very man he despised. But she too was heartbroken. And together, they might be able to heal.
This is their story. They know the repercussions of a happy ending. But maybe, just maybe, they can walk off into the sunset, together.
