Chapter 22
Frantic, I pulled the trigger two more times. They both struck him, one in the chest, and one right next to the heart. Within seconds, the holes from the bullets closed. He wasn't dying; I didn't know what else to do. Fear overtook my whole body. I could feel myself shaking with it. Even though I had this gun, I couldn't kill him if I didn't know how to use it properly.
Amusement lit in his eyes. "Tell me, have you ever even used one before? A gun I mean." He asked. I stayed quiet, letting silence be my answer. I didn't want to tell the truth at the moment, but there was a chance he wouldn't figure it out. He doubled over in laughter, his voice ringing through the trees. "I was right wasn't I?" he asked. I stand corrected.
Tauntingly, he took a step towards me. I took one back. His eyebrow went up, his amusement growing. "If you just gave into me, I would make sure it wouldn't hurt." I looked at him confused. Gave into him? What did he mean by that? Give in by letting him change me? Give into him so he could kill me?
All of those answers sounded right, but at the same time they didn't. I knew what he wanted; he wanted to drink my blood. He wanted to drain my body of every last drop of life. I could be exaggerating, but the expression on his face was the only thing that told me my exaggeration was correct.
I didn't see him, but he took two more steps towards me, his hands reaching for me. I backed up franticly, tripping on a root sticking out of the ground. I pulled the trigger as I fell back and watched his head jerk back in an unnatural way. I collided with the ground, landing painfully on my elbows. I grit my teeth past the pain and looked at him. His head slowly dropped forward, a smile on his face, and a huge bullet hole in his head.
You have got to be kidding me.
I watched as his skull pushed the bullet out, closing within seconds. The bullet, still smoking, landed on the ground at his feet. I must have had a scared look on my face because he looked at me with a dark smile and stepped on the bullet, making a noise that sounded like metal bending uncontrollably.
I inched away from him slowly, not bothering to get up. I didn't want to take my eyes off him knowing he could vanish any second and kill me in the next. As I went back, he came forward. When the gun lay at his feet, he smirked at me and stomped on it. The barrel of the gun snapped off so hard it skidded a few feet away from him. My mouth went dry.
"Shane where are you?" I thought, hoping he would respond, but I wasn't very lucky. All I got in return was his cry behind me. I whipped around on my knees and found Shane on the ground with the girl on top of him. Her nails had grown to claws and were aiming for Shane's face, but he was successful holding back them back. A fresh wound on his arm showed what the scream was for.
"Dammit Eme; you are so lucky I can control my anger!" He thought to me angrily. I would have smiled, but the situation wouldn't allow it. I went to stand to go towards Shane, but an icy cold hand gripped the back of my neck. The boy yanked me up and pulled me against him. I could feel the iciness of his body through his clothes, making me shiver.
His tongue skimmed the skin on my neck, "I have only been this way for ten years and I have to say you are the most peculiar smelling person I have come across."
I struggled against his grip but it worked to no avail. He was just too strong. "Is that a compliment or and offensive statement?" I questioned, trying to calm my heart rate. I was so scared, my whole body shook uncontrollably and my head pounded with my heart beat. I don't even remember being this scared in my whole life.
I felt him smile against my neck as he replied, "It means it wouldn't surprise me if the half breed over has fed off you already. You don't smell too appetizing, but you smell different than most humans, and most vampires like myself would want to taste something different for a change." His icy cold tongue licked my bare skin, sending a shock wave through my nerves.
Nothing about this felt right at all, it just felt like everything wasn't where it was supposed to be. For some strange reason, I couldn't help but feel he was faking this whole thing. The way his voice sounded, the tight yet uneven grip on my neck, even his whole frame just shouted "FAKE".
A gun shot sounded and I looked up and saw Shane standing over the girl, a bullet embedded in her chest. The boy gripped me even tighter, making the passage for oxygen smaller than it should be. I whimpered. Shane's gaze shot up, looking at me in the man's grip. His eyes burned red and he reloaded a new clip into his gun, pointing it exactly over my left shoulder. "Let her go." Shane said coldly. The man behind me remained silent before he started laughing hysterically, his cold breath coating my skin.
I saw Shane grip his gun tighter, "I said let her go!"
The boy suddenly yanked my head to the side and ripped my shirt. I felt the cold air touch my bare skin but the feeling was quickly overtaken by the feeling of my neck burning.
I felt his fangs tear through my skin into my neck, I felt every blood of blood leave my blood, but mostly I felt the fire. The pain was indescribable, it was like the time with Shane; it was much worse. He was doing it on purpose, he was making me suffer. The last thing I saw was Shane screaming for me and I felt my body go limp and fall down. I had no strength to get up; I had no strength to open my eyes.
