Inevitability
It was painful to watch the emotions play across her face as she stared after Ryfia and L'Arc, her indigo eyes saddened. He knew she understood the chemistry between them, even if they were not yet together, one day they would be, and that was what mattered to Adele. Any chance she thought she might have had was quashed the moment he walked through the gates with her, so casually.
And Alf knew. He knew she would not give him up. Adele was a fighter, that was one of the things he loved about her, but he wished she would turn away from them now, would see him. He had always been there, right in front of her, all along. He had been okay with her and L'Arc being together, as he'd always thought was inevitable, because he was a prince anyway, and he trusted L'Arc. L'Arc was a good person. But Ryfia was here now, and the only thing he could do was lie to her to try and make her feel better, all the while berating himself for being 'too nice,' as L'Arc always put it.
He wished he could be honest with her, tell her how he felt, but that was not what she wanted to hear, and he loved her, so he couldn't bear to upset her further.
They weren't together.
Yes, it wasn't technically a lie.
They weren't together, not yet, even if it seemed to be written in the stars, their destiny. L'Arc and Ryfia moved already as if they were one.
But Adele knew.
And he knew.
And it didn't really make anything better at all.
So in the end all he could do was watch her walk away from him, looking as dejected as he felt.
A/n: Just a short drabble on Alf's feelings. There will be more, as this is a one-shot series. This fanbase need more fic, but you needn't fear because I am here! XP Joking, of course.
