BATTER UP

Travis usually came home on Friday nights to find Jones alone in the apartment and Derrick gallivanting with a random chick who he wouldn't remember the next day. Instead, it was Jones who was missing, and Derrick lying down on the couch.

"Hey," Travis said in surprise. "Where's Jones?"

"Oh, she went home for the weekend, took a train about an hour ago."

"So what are you doing here?"

Derrick looked confused. "What do you mean?"

"I mean, here, in the apartment. And not hooking up with some drunk chick," Travis clarified.

"Oh, right. Well, I've been thinking lately, and I dunno. That kind of thing isn't fun anymore." He jumped off the couch.

Travis raised an eyebrow.

"Okay, well, sex is fun, yea. Not that you would know that…"

Travis tried hard not to roll his eyes.

"… but I mean the random chicks thing. That's not working for me."

"The random part?"

Travis had just realized how close Derrick had gotten to him.

"No," Derrick said thoughtfully. "The random part's all right."

Travis had trouble breathing for a minute. "So… the chick part?"

"Exactly," Derrick said quietly, and he leaned forward and kissed Travis gently.

Travis, feeling himself blushing, cleared his throat. "I didn't know you swung that way, Derrick."

Derrick smiled. "Oh, Travis. I always knew you swung that way."

So, yea. Just a little thing that popped into my head when Athena asked me to write her slash about Gossip. And Athena, the title is a BASEBALL reference. That's the little white balls and the stick.
