Happy Valentine's Day everyone! ~markaleen
Harry was waiting for Christine in his office. He was wondering why she was so late for work. He worried that something had happened to her. He was so relieved when he saw her walk through the door. "Christine," he quickly got up from his desk and hurried to give her a kiss. "I was afraid that something had happened!" Once he looked at her face he knew something had indeed happened. Nervously he said, "Something did happen… what is it? Are you alright?"
It took Christine a few moments before she could answer. "Harry… I just came from the doctor." She could tell by Harry's expression that he was nervous.
"Oh my goodness, you're sick!"
She quickly corrected him, "No, no, I'm not sick. But…" she nervously took a deep breath, "I'm pregnant."
All Harry did was stare at her; that was all he could do. Of course he was happy, he was going to be a father. Could she really be pregnant from that one night? The only spent the night together once, seven weeks ago. After that they both agreed that they should slow down a bit.
"Harry?" she asked when she didn't get a response.
"Yeah…" he saw a tear run down Christine's cheek which he quickly wiped away. "Don't cry," he hugged her tightly, "I'm happy."
She mumbled into his shirt, "You are?"
He looked at her with a smile and wiped away another one of her tears, "Of course I am, we're going to have a baby…"
"I know… it's great, but this isn't exactly taking it slow."
"Listen, I am letting you decide what happens. I will do what ever you ask of me. Whether its continuing to take it slow or whether its marring you… the only thing I won't do is let you go through this alone."
Christine smiled as tears continued to fall from her eyes (which Harry continued to wipe away). "You would really marry me?"
"In a heart beat."
She was silent for a minute. She was so confused. "Oh Harry… I don't know… part of me is saying yes and the other part of me is saying I don't know…"
Harry gently put his hands on her face and looked into her eyes, "What is your heart telling you?"
It only took her a few seconds to know the answer. "Yes."
They weren't getting married to try and hide the fact that she was pregnant before their marriage, but Harry wanted to make sure that he could support Christine and be by her side day and night. There was no way he was going to let her go through this alone.
Eight months later their son William was born.
Yet another one of life's great turns was taken in Harry and Christine's life together. Now they had their beautiful baby boy to share their life with.
