Chapter 15 The Past All Ways Comes Back To Hunt You part 1
Please, please forgive me
But I won't be home again
Maybe someday you'll meet a girl
And barely conscious you'll say to no one
Isn't something missing?
You won't cry for my absence I know
You forgot me long ago
Am I that unimportant?
Am I so insignificant?
Isn't something missing
Isn't someone missing me?
Even though I'm the sacrifice
You won't try for me, no, no
Though I die to know you love me
I'm more alone
Isn't someone missing me?
I know what you do to yourself
I breathe deep and cry out
Isn't something missing
Isn't someone missing me?
Even though I'm the sacrifice
You won't try for me no, no
Though I'd die to know you love me
I'm more alone
Isn't someone missing me?
And if I bleed, I'll bleed
Knowing you don't care
And if I sleep just to dream of you
I'll wake without you there
Isn't something missing?
Isn't something…
Even though I'm the sacrifice
You won't try for me no, no
Though I'd die to know you love me.
I'm more alone.
Isn't something missing
Isn't someone missing me?
It was the first days after she had left England, the side effects of being away from mythical creatures already affecting her system. The weather in San Francisco was very different from England. She was confused half the time with the accents, she didn't know any one and she felt dislocated. She could feel it her mind slipping almost into madness… she had a feeling this was how addicts felt when their drugs where taken from them.
It was around that time that she met Chris he had found her sleeping under a tree and had promptly taken her to the nurse's office.
When she woke up Chris was sitting on the nurse's desk having a "too" friendly for a nurse and student relationship, talk. Chris noticed her movements and looked up to me.
"Hey, you're that girl who came from England, right?" he asked pushing himself away from the desk. Connie's nodded. The nurse twisted her chair around leaning back on the desk watching them.
She had long brown black hair pulled back into a ponytail, gray eyes she looked lean wearing heals a pencil skirt and pink button up shirt. She also had on a lab coat; she looked to be around 19 or 20.
Connie's mind was coming up with many scenarios but before she could get to anything graphic, the nurse stoop up went over to Chris kissed his cheek before walking out she said "Later's little Cousin"
Which of course explain everything? Chris smirked "you though she was a girlfriend didn't you… or at least one of them."
Connie smile and nodded slightly. She cleared her throat "um why am I here?"
Chris lost his smile then. "What were you doing out there in this hot weather with a fever? Are you insane." He shook his head
Connie was shocked, she was usually the one telling her brother off it was kind of pleasant, if not a bit annoying to have someone telling her off for a change.
"M-my room was too warm" she answered shrugging.
"Of course it was too warm you had a fever. Look at you, have you eaten anything tsk, tsk. How am I supposed to invite you on a date if you're sick?" Chris continued babbling before he noticed that Connie was shaking.
"Hey are you alright I was kidding I would still ask you even if you were sick honest" he sounded so worried Connie couldn't help the sudden laughter that burst out of he, before quickly covering her lips.
"Sorry that was rude of me…" Connie said after taking a deep breath.
Chris shook his head "Nah that's cool I'm just glad I was able to make you smile. You looked sad all the time I've seen you. I know it's hard moving to a new country and all but it will get better." He said taking her hand he smiled up to her
Hey Connie this is your mom just wondering how you're doing we were a little worried when we received a phone call about your fever. Take your medicine and call us back. Ok? Love you…
"Hey how about joining a club it might help you keep your mind busy from sad things." Chris and Connie where hiding out in the library from his crazy fan girls.
"Like what type of clubs do you have in mind?" Connie asked curious as to what types of clubs American school had.
"Well there's the FLOA Future leaders of America, the art club, soccer club, the junior C.I.A. club, Chris is hot club, the pet club, The secret snake club the"
"You have a club?" Connie interrupted
Chris gave her his devilish smirk. "I have three, one for this school another in Mexico and the last one from my mother's older friends."
Connie smiled. Chris and she had kept meeting after the incident a week ago. He kept insisting that he showed her around the school it was thanks to him that she was able to keep her sickness away for so long.
"Anyways those clubs are not the only ones, tell me, is there something specifically that you're having trouble with or are very good at?" He asked breaking Connie out of her thoughts.
She looked up at him suddenly nervous about answering his question a problem she had was controlling her emotions what club was there to offer for that.
"Um, I sort of have um… well I have anger issues, also my emotions get too out of control sometime." Chris burst out laughing it lasted a good few minutes and by the time he finished his face was red and he was having trouble breathing.
"Connie, darling its natural for a woman to be emotional heck if only every female would be like you every man in the world would be happiest. I know my dad and I would, with my grandmother and mother alone, we have trouble and that not adding my aunts..." He chuckled.
Connie laughed quietly
"But if your serious There is a lot of things you could do" that got Connie's attention "There is the Tai chi club Mrs. Dawson the English teacher is teaching that class this year they are still accepting application, I am in that club by the way . There's the Anger Management class in the community center. You could sit down for a few meetings. Um sports normally help like karate that helps you take out pent out energy. Personally playing poker to prevent people from knowing your emotions I could teach you My father thought me when I was a kid so how about it any ideas?"
Connie nodded "I'll do them all, I think your fans have long since left can you take where I can sign in?" she asked shyly.
Chris nodded "We also have to get rid of this shy little Connie how about joining the student council that way you could learn the way power corrupts people here in America"
Connie shook her head not liking where this was heading
"Come on it will be fun, trust me." said Chris, carelessly putting his arm around her shoulders, and leading her to the office.
-"Hello every one and welcome our newest member Ms. Lionheart. I am Mr. Garrison" Claps follow
"We are all here because people around us, or ourselves, have noticed that we respond to the negativity around us with violence. We are here to control and to find a way to let that anger out of us using a positive and productive means. We are here to support each other through this conflict in our lives.
"Today like every time we have a new member we want to hear their story how they realized they had problems with their anger. Ms. Lionheart can you tell us, what exactly what happened the last time you lost control of your anger?"
Connie looked around nervously. "Don't worry Connie; everything said in this circle will stay here right guys." Everybody nods and claps in encouragement. Connie took a deep breath and began with a short summery of her moment of lost control of her anger
"The last time I lashed out at a friend, I had trusted him with a secret. I had told him that I would talk to an old family friend that I trusted, but with my aunts wedding fast approaching time slipped out of my hands with the preparations.
"The night of the wedding I was feeling sad and the music's mood was not helping, he came up to me again to tell me to tell the old family friend about my secret but I just was not in the mood.
"He took it to mean that I refused indefinitely to tell him. So he took matters into his own hand walked across the ball room and told the old family friend they looked at me like if I was a monster. I felt betrayed suddenly all of my emotions came forward anger at the betrayal over took all. I stood up and left the place I had my suspicions about my anger back then. They caught up to me and well I almost seriously hurt my friend."
They nodded sympathetically as Connie's tears fell to her lap "Connie dear could you tell us this secret?" Mr. Garrison asked gently.
Connie shook her head. "It's alright dear we are all her to support you maybe someday you could tell us. Just know anger is a part of our nature all emotions are natural we just have to find a positive out let for each one."
-Connie had been coming to Anger management for the last month all the while taking Tai chi and karate, all after school. It was a Saturday when a girl with red hair who Connie immediately recognized as one of the ex-cheerleaders came in. she had heard she had gone to prison because she was fighting in public for a sweater.
Mr. Garrison came in and sat in his usual sit. "Hello again well it seems we have a new comer this fine weekend. Ms. Valeria Chase welcome to the circle. We are all here because people around us, or ourselves, have noticed that we respond to the negativity around us with violence.
We are here to control and to find a way to let that anger out of us using a productive means. We are here to support each other through these times of much conflict in our live.
"Today like every time we have a new member we want to hear their story how they realized they had problems with their anger. Ms. Chase can you tell us, what the reason is for you're being here?"
The Ex-cheerleader smiled cross her legs and responded. "I was shopping when I saw a sweater that I had been looking for. It was just my size and graved it, but so did some 45 year old hag trying to copy us teens, she tried to snatched out of my hand but I was having none of that. I pulled on that sweater. The woman then intentionally stepped on my new four inch Alaia heals which anger me and caused her shin to be kicked suddenly we were scratching pulling biting each other while all the while trying to keep the sweater on one hand. finally old age kicked into gear and the woman lost the sweater I was arrested for fighting but being a minor I was told I had two options: 1) Got to Juvi for 6 months or, 2) Go to anger management for a year. I chose the lesser of two evils. The woman on the other hand lost half her fortune after my father sued her and went to jail for assaulting a minor." She smiled.
Connie stared at her in admiration, amusement, and slight fear.
After the meeting Connie was making her way out of the building when Valeria caught up to her.
"Hey you're that weird silent girl From England right?" she asked
Connie slightly offend gave her a silent nod.
"Cool we have Science together." She nodded toward a car waiting on the curve. "You need a ride back to school"
Suddenly Connie found herself with a new friend. "Sure"
A year had passed as quickly and Connie found herself with Val and Chris going to Mexico to visit his Mother birthplace and home.
If she knew who she would encounter on those alluring beach, she would had declined. If she would have know the injuries her friends and herself sustained she would have done all she could to prevent herself from getting on that airplane but she didn't know nor did she understand the protection that San Francisco had unconsciously offered her.
