Prologue

My phone beeped again, I didn't bother looking to see who it was. It was the same person who had been sending messages all week; Phoenix. Last week, I had found out what he really wanted with the scriptures; he wanted to bring his mother, Lilith, back from hell; literally. I knew I had to face him soon and if it wasn't in the next few days, who knows what could happen. I flipped my phone open and dialled the number that the last message was from. He answered it fast.

"Why lover, you have been holding out on me," Phoenix said.

"It's called, waiting for the right moment," I said.

"Yes, you had to have time to recover," Phoenix said.

"Listen, I really don't want any more carnage than necessary, so how about we meet somewhere," I said, instantly nervous.

"Sure, I'll be there in a few minutes," Phoenix said and hung up.

I was very thankful that dad had a business trip again this week because there really is no way I could explain it if he came home and found Phoenix in the apartment. I went into the lounge room and saw Phoenix already sitting on the couch. He was smiling. I could tell that his head was whirling. I knew I couldn't tell anyone that Phoenix had been in my apartment. I especially couldn't tell Lincoln. Thought that was easy as we had pretty much been avoiding each other all week.

"So, why did you want to see me so much lover?" Phoenix asked.

I didn't answer but instead went to sit next to him. Phoenix smiled even more. I could feel my heart beat really fast, like I had been running for ages. I knew it wasn't from nerves either. I was drawn to him and I really could not deny it any longer no matter my wishes. I knew I just had to ask him and I also knew that he would answer honestly.

"Phoenix, did you love?" I asked.

My question obviously threw him but he regained composure and smiled at me.

"Yes I did, maybe even now," he said, teasingly.

I wanted to know even more so I leaned in and slowly rested my head on his shoulder. His didn't flinched or push me away but, he did put his arm around me. I needed to know more so I move my head and laid my head in his lap. He didn't push me away; he just ran his hand through my hair. I looked up at Phoenix, he clearly was resisting something. I pulled my body up so I could prop myself up on my elbow. I touched his face, just how I remembered it. He caught my hand. Phoenix leaned in. I stretched until I met his lips. He poured bliss into me as he shifted until I was lying underneath him. I tried to wrap my legs around his waist but we fell onto the floor. That didn't make do anything but slowly take off his shirt. Soon all our clothes were off and I really couldn't tell where his body began and mine ended. Soon I drifted into sleep, lying across his body.

When I woke, I couldn't tell if it had been a dream or not.
