Reincarnated Sins
(Part Sixteen)
Heero walked slowly across the green grass, his eyes focused on a figure standing before a marble tomb. Her long blond hair flowed around her and she didn’t turn when he stepped up beside her.
“How many times will you continue to come here, Dorothy?”
She raised her head to the sky, her eyes closed, “Every day for the rest of my life…”
Heero stared at the tomb for a second then turned his head toward two graves close by. “Three have died because of our bet… Tell me, Dorothy, who really won?” He placed a hand on his forehead, smiling bitterly.
Dorothy turned toward him, rage clear in her eyes, “How dare you speak to me about that in front of his grave! You killed him, you bastard! He died because of you! Now leave me in peace!”
“Yes, I killed him… And I will always carry this guilt… For the rest of my days…” He licked his dry lips, “The life of a courtier used to thrill me, but now…” Heero shook his head, “I regret the bet and its consequences… They shouldn’t have died… And somehow I’ll repent these sins… Even if it takes the rest of my life…”
“You’re a fool. Get out of my sight!” Dorothy growled at him and Heero stared at her sadly.
“Dorothy… You have to move on… Underneath it all I know you’re a kind person… You have to move on with life and become that person.”
Dorothy turned away from him and spoke in a low whisper; “You don’t know me, Lord Yuy… With his death kindness no longer exists… Not for me… not ever.” She placed a hand on the stone and a single tear slid down her face, “I love you… Always, Quatre…” She turned and pointed at the tear, “Look, Lord Yuy… You are to be the last person to ever see me cry… Never again will I let emotions overwhelm me. Never again.”
Heero watched her walk away and a deep sorrow choked him as he tried to swallow… ‘Somehow… I’ll atone for their deaths… Somehow… Someday…’
The land shifted…

Dorothy opened her eyes and instantly a face hovered above her. “Quatre?”
The blond nodded and took her hand, “You’re awake… How do you feel?” A look of pain crossed his face as she yanked her hand back. But she didn’t yell at him… Instead she stared at her hand in shock.
“I… How…” She swallowed and searched the room and finally her eyes locked with a pair of Prussian blues. “Heero…”
Heero locked eyes with her for a long time before he finally turned away and walked out of the hospital room… Ignoring all around him.
Dorothy turned toward Quatre and placed a hand on his pale face, “I’m so sorry, Quatre.” A tear slid down her face, “I thought…” Her look changed into one of her usual determination and self-confidence, “I lost you once… I’m not going to again.” Dorothy leaned forward and kissed him lightly and Quatre blushed.

“I’ve lost her…” Duo sighed as he watched Hilde in deep conversation with Trowa. “Dreams… Dreams have ruined my life.”
“Were they really that bad?” Relena asked softly and he turned toward her with a slightly surprised expression… Then it slowly softened.
“No… They weren’t.” He flashed her a cheeky grin, “Actually, a few things were quite interesting! Like that one night when we—.”
“DUO!” Relena hit him lightly, but laughed.

Sally smiled at Wufei as he took her hand. “Surprise, surprise, eh?”
He grinned, “That’s why I married you… To have surprises in my life.” Wufei turned toward the place their house was to be built.
“And to think… A while ago we were at each others’ throats.” Sally laughed and kissed Wufei lightly. ‘You were there for me when I really needed you. Of all the men I’d thought I’d marry… I never even dreamed it’d be you. But I’m glad this is what fate had in store.’ “I’m happy, Wufei.”
“I’m building a house for you woman. You’d better be happy!”
She laughed harder and the world swirled around them.

“Get away from me, woman!” Wufei yelled as Doctor Shelb tried to check his vital signs. Then he blinked and stared at her closer. “I’m still dreaming!”
“Greg?!” Sally cried out as Dr. Williams walked toward her with his clipboard. The two doctors exchanged looks and shrugged.

Dr. Greg Williams and Dr. Barbara Shelb watched as their patients left… All, but one was present. Heero Yuy had disappeared the first day he’d awaken and hadn’t been seen since. The dreams had had an astounding effect on the group. Millardo and Noin were even closer, if that’s possible. Hilde was starting to get to know Trowa and he didn’t seem to mind her attention. While Duo constantly teased Relena about the night. Dorothy had already planned to meet with Quatre for lunch so they could discuss some important details. Sally still had to deal with Wufei’s complaining, but she did it with a fond smile and sometimes others would see Wufei stealing glances at the woman. Catherine acted normally, though she seemed to have a brotherly affection for Duo now.
Heero was the only one whose reaction was unknown… ‘Or maybe not…’ Dorothy thought as she walked toward her car. ‘His disappearance… Could it?’ She blinked and stored the idea away for further thought later on…
A bike roared to life somewhere in the shadows as Dorothy drove away and Heero sped into the night.
A/N: See, I wanted the ending to be more sweet than the whole story so I didn't go into detail about the effects of the dreams--I focused more on the effects it had on couples not individuals---After so much drama I needed a break!!!!!! So sawy for those didn't like the ending ^_^ ciao!
Plus I'll probably be writing a more drama/angst part that focuses on the individuals, but not for awhile now since I'm hoping to take a break from drama--ah! Too much backstabbing, dying, and inner struggles! NO MORE!!! For at least awhile ^_^
