OK guy's so the plot for this story is set after L.S. But Rose and Dimitri never got together, so she got reasigned to another moroi. After 3 years apart Rose gets a visit from 7 people she never thought she'd ever see again and when a mysterious package arrives addressed to her what's in store for them.
Chapter 1
I was making breakfast for my friend and charge jake, You see when i resigned as Lissa's guardian they gave me Jacob Badica, he's a royal but he's different from other royals for one he's not stuck up. He bought a house in Turkey with 7 bedrooms 5 bathrooms a pool and a hot tub so yer it was fun having jake as my charge.
"Rosie" I heard jake call, he's the only one i allow to call me 'Rosie'
"In the kitchen" I replied and a few seconds later he came in and smiled at me and asked
"What are you doing"
"Making pancakes" I replied and he came and kissed my cheek and said
"Try not to burn them this time" and laughed
"Shut up or you can make your own stinkin breakfast" I replied frustrated but he just laughed
After 20 pain staking minutes the pancakes were finally ready, they turned out all right, to bad i couldn't say the same for my face, i had flour all over my face and Jake was trying not to laugh at me instead he shoved a pancake in his mouth and wouldn't meet my eyes.
I went up stairs to take a quick shower, i got dressed in black mini shorts with a red tank top then went downstairs to get my breakfast and all the pancakes were gone, that made me angry.
"JAKKKKEEE" I yelled
Jake came in from outside along with marty, jake's other guardian, and smiled at me and said
"Looks like you got all the flour off your face"
"Where the fuck are my pancakes" I yelled
"Oh was i supossed to leave you some, my bad" he said still smiling at me, that just made me angrier
"YOU ATE ALL THE PANCAKES" I yelled and he nodded and i lunged for him but he moved and ran around the couch i chased him around the house whilst Marty just laughed at us
"Jake get your ass back here now" I yelled as I followed him upstairs
"NEVER" He yelled back laughing
I corned him in his room but the little bastard ducked under my arms when i went to grab him and ran down stairs i followed him when he was on the last stair i lunged for him and we went rolling around the floor me yelling at him that he's a pig and he ate my pancakes until Marty cleared his throat and we looked up.
There standing next to him were 7 people, Lissa, Christian, Eddie, Mia, Adrien, Dimitri and Alberta. I hoped off of Jake and helped him up then turned to my guest's and put up my Guardian mask and said
"What are you's doing here" whilst looking at Lissa
"Hey Rose" She said shyly
"Maybe i should give you's some privacy" Jake said but i grabbed his hand and looked at him and he put a hand on my cheek and i said
"Don't go" and he smiled and nodded , I turned back to my guest's and said
"Are you's staying long?" and Christian said
"Aw you tryin to get rid of us Rosie" i glared at him and said
"Don't call me Rosie"
"Is it all right if we stay for a little while?" Lissa asked me and i shrugged and said
"It's not my house" Jake squeezed my hand and said
"Rose is being rude, I'm Jacob Badica" and i rolled my eyes
"Nice to meet you Jacob, i'm Vasalissa but you can call me Lissa, this is my boyfriend Christian, this is Eddie and Mia this is Adrien and Guardian Belikov and Guardian Petrov" Lissa said introducing everyone and Jake replied
"It's nice to meet you and your welcome to stay as long as you want" and i whispered
"No there not" and jake put his arm around my waist and kissed my head and whispered 'Behave'
"So what brings you's here and how did you find me?" I asked them
"Well being the Queen's nephew has it's advantages Little dhampir" Adrien said smiling at me and i smiled back, a real smile and said
"It's good to see you again Adrien it's been what a month, you look good" and he replied
"You to, sorry i didn't visit sooner i've been busy, i'd say you look good to but you look so much better than good" and came over and huged me and whispered in my ear
"That feels so much better than it does in my dreams" and i laughed and he stood back and said
"Nice to see you again Jake" and i replied
"You's know each other?"
"Oh yer we go way back, isn't that right Ivoshkov" Jake said smiling
"Dam right Badica, we'll have to see how lucky you are, i've stepped up my game" Adrien replied
"Doesn't matter how much you've stepped up i'm still gonna kick your ass" Jake replied and i rolled my eyes and said
"Oh god, this is gonna be a long visit" and they laughed
"I'm going to make some more pancakes because some ass hole ate all my pancakes, oh wait that was you" I said glaring at Jake but he just laughed and said
"And they were delicious"
"Watch it Badica or you can make ya own dinner" I threatened
"Hey at least then my dinner wont be burned" he replied and i stalked off to the kitchen muttering jerk under my breath
"Hey Rosie" Jake called and i turned and faced him and he said
"Try not to get flour on you face this time" and Adrien laughed but i stormed into the kitchen and heard him laughing
I had just put the pancakes on the stove when there was a knock at the door, so i left my pancakes and went and got the door, there was a package that was adressed to me. I walked in and dumped the package on Jakes lap, he stopped talking to Lissa and said
"Who's it from?"
"Give me two dam seconds to open the letter and i'll tell you" I replied
I opened the envelope and it said
Rose,
I'm going to assume the whole gang is there right now, so inside this package is 6 books. Inside these books reveals all the truths and secrets you have kept hidden. You have made the ultamite sacrifices, it's time for them to do the same.
From,
S.H
"So who's it from?" Jake asked but i didn't reply I gave him the letter to read and opened the package and pulled out 6 books, which all had pictures of me on them.
"What the fuck" Jake said looking at the books
"Do you know someone with the enitials S.H" jake asked me but i shook my head
"Why exactly did you's come?" i asked Lissa
"I got a phone call that said we had to come to you, that it was very important" she replied and i nodded
"I'll be right back" i said and went outside and called my dad, he picked up on the second ring
"Hey Kiz" he answered
"Hey dad um can you and mum come over it's really important" I asked him and he replied
"Your not pregnant are you" and i laughed and said
"No of course not"
"Ok we'll be over in 5" he said
"Ok see you then" i said
"Love you" he said
"Love you to" and hung up
I walked back in and sat next to Jake and he raised his eye brow at me
"I called my dad, he'll be over in 5" i said and smiled
"What?" Jake asked
"He asked me if i was pregnant" I laughed
"Sweetie I thought you didn't want anyone to know" he said seriously and looked at Lissa and she said
"Your pregnant" and Jake cracked up laughing but I hit him and said
"No of course not Jake is just joking, arnt you jake" and he nodded still laughing, i looked at the books again and frowned
"How did they get these pictures" I asked myself then picked up the book that said Frostbite, it had a picture of me and Adrien, I held it up to him and said
"Did you take this?" but he shook his head and i sighed, Jake pulled me onto his lap and wrapped his arms around my waist and i leaned my head against his shoulder.
"Relax" he said and kissed my head
"So how long have you's been dating" Lissa asked and i laughed
"We're not dating, we're just friends" I said then whispered
"With benefits" and Jake laughed and kissed me on the lips
"Heard that Little dhampir" Adrien said and i blushed,
The smoke alarm started going off and I ran in the kitchen with jake and the others following close behind, when I got in the kitchen the pancakes were on fire
"Shit" I said and jake grabbed the fire extinguisher and put it out
"Are you trying to burn down my house?" Jake asked me smiling
"It's not fucking funny, First you eat my pancakes, they come and now my pancakes are burt, all I want to do is HAVE SOME FUCKING BREAKFAST IS THAT TO MUCH TO ASK" I yelled
"Hey shhh," jake said and put his hands on either sides of my face and said
"Look, i'll make you some breakfast, go watch tv or something i'll be out in a minute" and I smiled and kissed him than said
"Thanks Jake" and walked out smiling
10 minutes later Jake came out with the pancakes and I dug into them, they were gone in less than two minutes
"I'm guessing they were good" Jake asked with a smile and I blushed and nodded
He grabbed the dishes and took them in the kitchen when the door bell rang but none of us moved
"You wanna get that" Christian asked but I shook my head
"Come in" Jake yelled and Christian rolled his eyes and said
"Your so lazy Rose" and i shrugged
Mum and Dad walked in and i smiled and said
"Dad" and hopped up and gave him a hug
"Hey Kiz nice to see you to" and kissed my head
"Hey mum" I said and hugged her
"So just to make sure your not pregnant are you?" Dad asked just as Jake came back in
"She better not be" mum said
"Sorry we should have told you earlier, yer Rose is pregnant and we're getting married" Jake said coming and stood behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. I moved out of his arms and hit him across the head
"He's joking, relax, I'm NOT pregnant" I said and dad smiled
"To bad, i like Jake" dad said
"ABE" mum scolded and hit him across the head and i laughed
"Rosemarie" mum said and hit my head and dad laughed
"ABE for goodness sake act your age" my mum said and i laughed
"Yes old man" i said and he glared at me
"Watch it Little girl" he said and i smiled
"So, Rose what's so importan-" dad started but then spotted the people on the couch, then he saw dimitri and glared at him and i laughed
"Yer they came this morning" I said
"But that's not what i wanted you for" I said then got the letter and gave it to them to read. Once they read it dad said
"S.H, who's that?"
"I don't know but sit down so we can read these stupid books" I huffed and sat down and jake sat next to me whilst my mum and dad shared the love seat.
I picked up the first book which was called Vampire Academy and said
"Who wants to read first?" and Lissa replied
"I will" and took the book
"Chapter 1" she said and began reading
I felt her fear before i heard her screams.
"Oh fantastic, it's in my point of view" I said
"We finally get to see what goes on in that head of yours" adrien said smiling
Her Nightmare pulsed into me, shaking me out of my own dream, which had had something to do with a beach and some hot guy rubbing suntan oil on me.
"Really Rose" Christian asked and i smiled
Images-hers, not mine- tumbled through my mind: fire and blood, the smell of smoke, the twisted metal of a car. The pictures wrapped around me, suffocating me, until some rational part of my brain reminded me that this wasn't MY dream.
"Who knew Rose had a rational part in her" Christian said
"Yes it's the part that's telling me not to kill you, but it's VERY thin" I replied and he paled
I woke up, strands of long, dark hair sticking to my forehead.
"We all know what colour your hair is Rose" Eddie commented
"Shut up" i replied, what was it pick on Rose day or something
Lissa lay in her bed, thrashing and screaming. I bolted out of mine, quickly crossing the few feet that seperated us.
"Liss," I said shaking her. "Liss, wake up." Her screams dropped off, replaced by soft whimpers.
"Andre," she moaned. "Oh God."
Mia stiffened at the mention of her ex-boyfriends name
I helped her sit up. "Liss, you arn't there anymore. Wake up."
After a few moments, her eyes fluttered open, and in the dim lighting, I could see a flicker of consciousness start to take over. Her frantic breathing slowed, and she leaned into me, resting her head against my shoulder. I put an arm around her and ran a hand over her hair.
"It's okay," I told her gently. "Everything's okay."
"You acted like my mother" Lissa told me smiling
"Someone had to look out for you" I replied with a shrug
"I had that dream."
"Yeah. I know."
We sat like that for several minutes, not saying anything else. When i felt her emotions calm down, I leaned over to the nightstand between our beds and turned on the lamp. It glowed dimly, our housemate's cat, Oscar, leapt up onto the sill of the open window.
He gave me a wide berth-animals don't like dhampirs, for whatever reason
"Have you ever thought that they just don't like you" Christian said and i through a pillow at him
-but jumped onto the bed and rubbed his head against Lissa, purring softly. Animals didn't have a problem with Moroi, and they all loved Lissa in particular. Smiling, she scratched his chin, and I felt her calm further.
"When did we last do a feeding?" I asked,
"You fed her" Eddie asked me astonished and i looked down and said
"I had to, she had to survive somehow"
"You really would have done anything for her" my mum said
"I still would, 'they come first,' remember" i replied and lissa smiled at me
studying her face. Her skin was paler than usual. Dark circles hung under her eyes, and there was an air of frailty about her. School had been hectic this week, and I couldn't remember the last time i'd given her blood. "It's been like...more than two days, hasn't it? Three? Why didn't you say anything?"
She shrugged and wouldn't meet my eyes. "You were busy. I didn't want to-"
"Screw that," I said, shifting into a better position.
"It's nice to know your language hasn't changed" my mum said and I smiled
"Yep" I said popping the 'p'
No wonder she seemed so weak. Oscar, not wanting me any closer, leapt down and returned to the window, where he could watch at a safe distance. "Come on. Let's do this."
"Rose-"
"Come ON. It'll make you feel better."
I tilted my head and tossed my hair back, baring my neck. I saw her hesitate, but the sight of my neck and what it offered proved to powerful. A hungry expression crossed her face, and her lips parted slightly, exposing the fangs she normally kept hidden while living among humans. Those fangs contrasted oddly with the rest of her features. With her pretty face and blonde hair, she looked more like an angel than a vampire.
Lissa blushed at that comment but didn't say anything and kept reading
As her teeth neared my bare skin, I felt my heart race with a mix of fear and anticipation. I always hated feeling the latter, but it was nothing I could help, a weakness I couldn't shake. Her fangs bit into me, hard, and I cried out at the brief flare of pain. Then it faded, replaced by a wonderful, golden joy that spread through my body. It was better than any of the times i'd been drunk or high.
"You've been high" My mum yelled at me and i shrugged and looked at Eddie who smiled
"A few times" i replied smiling at him, I heard mum say something under her breathe but couldn't make it out
Better than sex-or so I imagined, since i'd never done it.
"I still can't believe you were a virgin back then" eddie said
"Hey not all of us loses there virginity at 13" I replied and he blushed
"I was 14" he said shyly and i smiled
"And i was 17" i replied
'I was 15" Christian said
"No one cares" I said and he glared at me
"What about you Mia, how old were you when you lost your's, 13 is my guess since you didn't have a problem sleeping with Jessie and Ralf" I said bitchily
"No for you information i was 16" she said glaring at me
"Suprise suprise maybe you arn't such a slut after all" i said
"Ok, continue Lissa, Please" Jake said
It was a blanket of pure, refined pleasure, wrapping me up and promising everything would be right in the world. on and on it went. The chemicals in her saliva trigggered an endorphin rush, and I lost track of the world, lost track of who I was.
Then, regretfully, it was over. It had taken less than a minute.
She pulled back, wiping her hand across her lips as she studied me. "You okay?"
"I...yeah." I lay back on the bed, dizzy from the blood loss. "I just need to sleep it off. I'm fine."
Her pale, jade-green eyes watched me with concern. She stood up. "I'm going to get you something to eat."
My protests came weakly to my lips, and she left before I could get a sentence out. The buzz from her bite had lessened as soon as she broke the connection, but some of it still lingered in my veins, and I felt a goofy smile cross my lips. Turning my head, I glanced up at Oscar, still sitting in the window.
"You don't know what your missing," I told him.
"I always knew you were crazy Rosie," Christian said
"I'm gonna let that Rosie comment slide and why would you think I was crazy?" I asked
"Your talking to a cat" he said
"What ever i was high on endorphins" i replied
His attention was on something outside. Hunkering down into a crouch, he puffed out his jet-black fur. His tail started twitching.
"What was he looking at?" Eddie asked mesmerized by the book, I just smiled at Dimitri
My smile faded, and I forced myself to sit up. The world spun, and I waited for it to right itself before trying to stand. When I managed it, the dizziness set in again and this time refused to leave. Still, I felt okay enough to stumble to the window and peer out with Oscar. He eyed me warily, scooted over a little, and then returned to whatever had held his attention.
A warm breeze-unseasonably warm for Portland fall- played with my hair as I leaned out. The streat was dark and relatively quiet. It was three in the morning, just about the only time a college campus settled down, at least somewhat. The house in which we'd rented a room for the past eight months sat on a residential street with old, mismatched houses.
"EIGHT MONTHS, YOU STAYED IN THE SAME PLACE FOR EIGHT MONTHS," my mum asked me
"We had to go to school and it was a bitch to keep forging documents" i replied
"Jeez she's so much like you, she was already forging documents before she met you" my mum said to my dad and he smiled at me
"Still Rosemarie staying in one place was dangerous no wonder you's were caught" she said to me"
"I know mum, it was a stupid mistake, one of many, but i'm older and I know how to stay hidden, well I thought I did" I said and Adrien just smiled at me
"Shhh, I wanna hear this story" Eddie said and i laughed and Lissa continued
Across the road, a streetlight flickered, nearly ready to burn out. It still cast enough light for me to make out the shapes of cars and buildings. In our own yard, I could see the stilhouettes of trees and bushes.
And a man watching me.
"Stalker" Mia said
"Pervet" Eddie said but I just cracked up laughing
"What are you laughing at?" Mia asked
"Oh you'll find out" I replied
I jerked back in suprise. A figure stood by a tree in the yard, about thirty feet away, where he could easily see through the window. He was close enough that I probably could have thrown something and hit him. He was certainly close enough that he could have seen what Lissa and I had just done.
"Careless Rosemarie" mum commented and I sighed and replied
"Are you just going to keep commenting on my mistakes, because guess what mum I know I made mistakes i'm not friggin perfect like you" I yelled and closed my eyes
"Just breathe" Jake said rubbing my arm
I opened my eyes and said
"Sorry" but she shook her head
"Don't be, we all make mistakes, even me, i'm not perfect Rose, far from it" she said
"But your always so calm and in control and you seem to always know what to do" I said she smiled at me and said
"Years of practise, but I still mess up sometimes Rose" she said and smiled at me
"Okay well um where was I" Lissa said and continued reading
The shadows covered him so well that even with my heightened sight, I couldn't make out any of his features, save for his height. He was tall. Really tall. He stood there for just a moment, barely discernible, and then stepped back, disappearing into the shadow cast by the trees on the far side of the yard. I was pretty sure I saw someone else move nearby and join before the blackness swallowed them both.
Whoever these figures were, Oscar didn't like them. Not counting me, he usually got along with most people, growing upset only when someone posed an immediate danger. The guy outside hadn't done anything threatening to Oscar, but the cat had sensed something, something that put him on egde.
"That's how you knew he was a threat, by Oscar" Lissa asked and I smiled and replied
"I was right wasn't I"
"To an extent" she replied and Dimitri scoffed
Something similar to what he always sensed in me.
Icy fear raced through me, almost-but not quite-eradicating the lovely bliss of Lissa's bite. Backing up from the window, I jerked on a pair of jeans that I found on the floor, nearly falling over in the process.
"Wait so you were only in your underwear?" Adrien asked and i rolled my eyes and said
"Yes Adrien" and he smiled
"Dam I wish I had seen that" and my dad growled at him
"So when you had sleep over's at Lissa's you's slept in your underwear" Adrien asked
"Jeez Adrien your such a man whore" I said and he shrugged
"Only for you baby, your sexy, i'm sure Jake agree's with me, right man" Adrien said
"She's beautiful" Jake replied smiling
"Aw, your such a suck up," I said smiling and kissed him and he pulled me onto his lap, again
Once they were on, I grabbed my coat and Lissa's, along with our wallets. Shoving my feet into the first shoes I saw, I headed out the door.
Downstairs, I found her in the cramped kitchen, rummaging through the refrigerator. One of our housmates, Jeremy, sat at the table, hand on his forehead as he stared sadly at a calculus book. Lissa regarded me with suprise.
"I miss Jeremy, maybe we should visit him" I said to Lissa
"Yer, he was hot, and a good kisser" she replied
"You would know you spent most of your time with your tongue down his throat" I said
"Hey I only hooked up with him like 5 times, YOU on the other hand had your tongue down his throat EVERY day" she said
"Did not, it was more like every second day, I don't know if you know this Vasalissa but I spent most of my life guarding your ass, but your to stuck up to even realise it" I yelled
"Because it's your job" she replied
"I beg your pardon" I said astonished
"You heard me you protected me because it was your job, you had to" she said
"NO, that's where your wrong Vasalissa, I didn't protect you just because it was my job, I protected you because you were my sister, my best friend, well didn't I make a mistake, I don't even know who you are anymore, you've turned into a bitch Vasilissa, a stuck up royal BITCH" i yelled at her
"STOP IT" she yelled
"What are you going to do? Order me to" I said and a tear fell down her cheek
"You shouldn't be up." Lissa continued
"We have to go. Now."
Her eyes widened, and then a moment later, understanding clicked in. "Are you...really? Are you sure?"
I nodded. I couldn't explain how I knew for sure. I just did.
Jeremy watched us curiously. "What's wrong?"
An idea came to mind. "Liss, get his car keys."
He looked back and forth between us. "What are you-"
Lissa unhesitatingly walked over to him. Her fear poured through our psychic bond, but there was something else to: her complete faith that I would take care of everything, that we would be safe. Like always, I hoped I was worthy of that kind of trust.
She smiled broadly and gazed directly into his eyes. For a moment, Jeremy just stared, still confused, and then I saw the thrall sieze him. His eyes glazed over, and he regarded her adoringly.
"We need to borrow your car," she said in a gentle voice.
"Where are the keys?"
"Shit, we forgot to give Jeremy his keys back, woops" I said smiling to myself
He smiled and I shivered. I had a high resistance to compulsion, but I could still feel it's effects when it was directed at another person. That, and I'd been taught my entire life using it was wrong. Reaching into his pocket, Jeremy handed over a set of car keys hanging on a large red key chain.
"Could you even drive" Dimitri asked me
"Nope" I said popping the 'p' and he replied
"Typical, jumping into situations without thinking" dimitri commented
"Hey all I knew was that I had to get Lissa out of there" I defended myself
"Thank you," said Lissa "And where is it parked?"
"Down the street," he said dreamily. "At the corner. By brown." Four blocks away.
"Thank you" she repeated, backing up.
"As soon as we leave, I want you to go back to studying. Forget you ever saw us tonight."
He nodded obligingly. I got the impression he would have walked off a cliff for her right then if she's asked him to. All humans were susceptible to compulsion, but Jeremy appeared weaker than most. That came in handy right now.
"Come on," I told her "We've got to move."
We stepped outside, heading towards the corner he'd named. I was still dizzy from the bite and kept stumbling, unable to move as quickly as I wanted. Lissa had to catch hold of me a few times to stop me from falling. All the time, that anxiety rushed into me from her mind. I tried my best to ignore it; I had my own fears to deal with.
"Rose...what are we going to do if they catch us?" she whispered
"They won't," I said fiercely. "I won't let them."
"But if they've found us-"
"They found us before. They didn't catch us then. We'll just drive over to the train station and go to L.A. They'll lose the trail."
"You always sounded so confident" Lissa comented but i wouldn't look at her
I made it sound so simple. I alway did, even though there was nothing simple about being on the run with the people we'd grown up with. We'd been doing it for two years, hiding wherever we could and just trying to finish high school. Our senior year had just started, and living on a college campus seemed safe. We were so close to freedom.
She said nothing more, and I felt her faith in me surge up once more. This was how it had alway between the two of us. I was the one who took action, who made sure things happened- sometimes recklessly so. She was the more reasonable one, the one who thought things out and researched them extensively before acting. Both styles had their uses, but at the moment, recklessness was called for. We didn't have time to hesitate.
Lissa and I had been best friends since kindergarten, when our teacher had paired us together for writing lessons. Forcing five-year-olds to spellVasilissa Dragomir and Rosemarie Hathaway was beyond cruel, and we'd- or rather I'd- responded appropriately. I'd chucked my book at our teacher and called her a fascist bastard. I hadn't known what those words meant, but i'd known how to hit a moving target.
They all cracked up laughing at that even Dimitri and Alberta,
"She had quite the mouth on her, even when she was 5" Alberta commented laughing
Lissa and I had been inseparable ever since.
"That's how you's two met" Mia asked laughing
"Yep" I said smiling
"Do you hear that?" she asked suddenly.
It took me a few seconds to pick up what her sharper senses already had. Footsteps, moving fast. I grimaced. We had two more blocks to go.
"We've got to run for it," I said catching hold of her arm
"But you can't-"
"RUN"
It took every ounce of my willpower not to pass out on the sidewalk. My body didn't want to run after losing blood or while still metabolizing the effects of her saliva. But I ordered my muscles to stop their bitching and clung to Lissa as our feet pounded against the concrete. Normally I could have out run her without any extra effort-particularly since she was barefoot- but tonight, she was all that held me upright.
The pursuing footsteps grew louder, closer. Black stars danced before my eyes. Ahead of us, I could make out Jeremy's Honda. Oh God, if we could just make it-
"Run" Eddie yelled and I laughed
Ten feet from the car, a man stepped directly into our path. We came to a screeching holt, and I jerked Lissa back by her arm. It was HIM, the guy i'd seen across the street watching me. He was older than us, maybe mid-twenties, and as tall as i'd figured, probably six-six or six-seven.
"Six-seven" I heard dimitri mutter
And under different circumstances-say, when he wasn't holding up our desperate escape- I would have thought he was hot.
"Typical, you check him out when you should have just ran" Christian commented
"Shhh, was he hot?" Mia asked me and I just laughed
"What?" She asked me I just laughed
"Wasn't he hot" Mia asked
"Oh he was hot" I said smiling
"Then why on earth are you laughing?" Mia asked me
"Oh God, you will see very shortly" I said trying to catch my breath
Shoulder-length brown hair, tied back in a short ponytail. Dark brown eyes. A long brown coat-a duster, I thought it was called.
"Wait, it was guard-" Mia started
"Shhhh you'll find out," I said
But his hotness was irrelevant now. He was only an obstacle keeping Lissa and me away from the car and our freedom. The footsteps behind us slowed, and I knew our pursuers had caught up. Off to the sides, I detected more movement, more people closing in. God. They'd sent more than a dozen guardians to retrieve us. I couldn't believe it. The queen herself didn't even travel with that many.
Panicked and not entirely in control of my higher reasoning, I acted out of instinct.
"Since when do you have control?" Eddie asked smiling
I pressed up to Lissa, keeping her behind me and away from the man who appeared to be the leader.
"Leave her alone," I growled. "Don't touch her."
His face was unreadable, but he held out his hands in was apparently supposed to be some sort of calming gesture, like I was a rabid animal he was planning to sedate.
"Not far off" My mum commented
"I wasn't THAT out of control" I said softly
"I'm not going to-"
He took a step forward. Too close.
I attacked him, leaping out in an offence maneuver I hadn't used in two years, not since Lissa and I had run away. The move was stupid,
"You don't say" Dimitri commented
"Shut up" I replied
another reaction born of instinct and fear. And it was hopeless. He was a skilled guardian, not a novice who hadn't finished his training. He also wasn't weak and on the verge of passing out.
And man, was he fast. I'd forgotten how fast guardians could be, how they could move and strike like cobras. He knocked me off as though brushing away a fly, and his hands slammed into me and sent me backwards. I don't think he ment to strike that hard-probably just intended to keep me away-but my lack of coordination interfered with my ability to respond. Unable to catch my footing, I started to fall, heading straight towards the side walk at a twisted angle, hip-first. It was going to hurt. A LOT.
"Ouch" Mia said
Only it didn't.
Just as quickly as he'd blocked me, the man reached out and caught my arm, keeping me upright. When i'd steadied myself, I noticed he was staring at me-
"Again, i guess I can't blame him you are hot" Eddie said and I laughed
"Still I guesss it was kinda gross an old man staring at you" Mia said and I supressed a laugh
or, more precisely, at my neck. Still disoriented, I didn't get it right away. Then, slowly, my free hand reached up to the side of my throat and lightly touched the wound Lissa had made earlier. When I pulled my fingers back, I saw slick, dark blood on my skin. Embarrassed, I shook my hair so that it fell forward around my face. My hair was thick and long and completely covered my neck. I'd grown it out for precisely this reason.
The guy's dark eyes lingered on the now-covered bite a moment longer and then met mine. I returned his look defiantly and quickly jerked out of his hold. He let me go, though I knew he could have restrained me all night if he'd wanted to.
"Does anyone else hear the double meaning in that?" Adrien asked laughing
"Your such a pervet" I said shaking my head
"Me what about the cradle robber?" Adrien said raising an eye brow
"I'm much younger than him" He said
"What ever" I replied
"Who's the cradle robber?" Mia asked confused
"No one, lets just continue" I said
Fighting the nauseating dizziness, I backed towards Lissa again, bracing myself for another attack. Suddenly, her hand caught hold of mine. "Rose," she said quietly. "Don't."
Her words had no effect on me at first, but calming thoughts gradually began to settle in my mind, coming across through the bond. It wasn't exactly compulsion-she wouldn't use that on me-
"Boy was i wrong" I said looking at her but she wouldn't meet my eyes
but it was effectual, as was the fact that we were hopelessly outnumbered and outcassed. Even I knew struggling would be pointless. The tension left my body, and I sagged in defeat.
Sensing my resignation, the man stepped forward, turning his attention to Lissa. His face was calm. He swept her a bow and managed to look graceful doing it, which suprised me considering his height.
"My name is Dimitri Belikov," he said
Mia blushed and I cracked up laughing and so did dimitri and Lissa
"Hey um sorry I didn't know" Eddie said
"Me to" Mia said quietly not meeting Dimitri's eye
"Now you see why I was laughing" I told mia and she blushed harder
I could hear a faint Russian accent. "I've come to take you back to St. Vladimir's Academy, Princess."
"End of chapter" Lissa said
"I'm going to make a coffea, would anyone else like one" Jake said
"No thanks" Lissa said and everyone else said 'no'
When Jake left we all just pretty much sat there not saying anything until Lissa said
"Um, Rose, could we Please talk" I looked her through narrowed eyes and she swallowed loudly
"Please" she repeated softly and I sighed and nodded
I stood up and she followed, I went outside and sat down on one of the patio chairs and she sat next to me.
"Rose I am truly sorry that I hurt you can you please forgive me, it's killing me," she said soflty
"Looks like your doing fine on your own" I replied, and I admit I was being a bitch but I suffered for 3 years she can suffer a little longer
"Rose, I really didn't mean to hurt you" Lissa said
"I know you didn't mean to Lissa but you did, you didn't care about me or my feelings all you cared about was Dimitri, you don't know how much that hurt, I only had Adrien, because you were always with Dimitri or Christian, Dimitri didn't even want to talk to me and Eddie hates me," I yelled with tears running down my face
"Everything was working out for you LIssa, whilst I have to give up everything, it's not fair i don't get to do anything I want" I said
"I'm so sorry" she kept repeating
"I didn't know" she said and I pulled back
"Of course you didn't know, all you cared about was yourself" I said and she nodded
"I know I know and i'm sorry" she replied wipping my tears
"Please forgive me" she asked
"I forgive you, but I don't completely trust you" I said after awhile and she smiled and hugged me
"It's ok i'll make it up to you, i'll urn your trust back" Lissa said I stood up and wipped my tears and she stood up, I gave her a hug and said
"Come on, let's go inside" and she nodded and grabbed my hand and we walked inside, hand-in-hand.
They were all still sitting on the couch talking but stopped when we walked in the smiled at us and mia asked
"So you's kissed and made up" and I looked at Lissa and smiled and said
"Yer" and hugged her
"Bout time" Mia said and I smiled
"Hey um Eddie" I asked shyly
"Yer Rose" he said
"Are you still mad at me?" I asked and he smiled
"I forgave you before you left Rose, it was a stupid mistake, I'm sure I'll make tons of them" he said and stood up and gave me a hug, we stayed like that for several minutes then I whispered
"Have you gotten with Mia yet" and he laughed and said
"Not yet"
When we seperated we sat down on the couch my hot chocolate was sitting on the coffea table, I picked it up and cuddled up to jake and said
"Thanks" and he smiled and replied
"No problem Rosie" and I smiled
"Ok so how come he is aloud to call you Rosie but when we do you just about rip our heads off" Christian asked and I shrugged and smiled
"I think it has something to do with the fact that i'd call her that when we were having sex" Jake said casually
"What" mum exclaimed
"He's kidding mum" I said a little to quickly
"Sure he is Kiz" Dad said a little unhappily and i blushed a little
"I am going to kill you" I whispered to Jake but he just smiled at me, I cleared my throat and said
"So who's reading next"
"I will" Jake said and Lissa gave him the book
"Chapter 2" he started
