Hey guys. I didn't die. :D
Ok, I realize I forgot Sam… heh heh heh… whoops. Well, read on to find out what I do about it!
Disclaimer: I don't own HISMS, MTV, or Despicable Me.
Jenny POV
It was Friday, and I was ready for the group—including Addie—to make their appearance.
The doorbell rang loudly. I opened the door and there stood Josh, Felicia, and Rachel.
"Come on in," I said. I led them up to my room.
Rachel laughed at the sign I'd made that said "Romance Zone" inside my bedroom. "What do you call a male deer that is crazy about a female deer? A doe-nut! Get it? Like doe? And nut, like crazy?"
We all groaned. "We get it, Rachel," said Felicia.
"I like this set-up," Josh commented. I'd set up the room so that they could talk to each other comfortably either at the table, eating cookies I'd made, or on my bed.
"And I have some DVDs," said Rachel. "I thought you could watch them on Jenny's computer or something."
"That's a great idea. Thanks, guys," said Felicia.
"Yeah. Thanks," added Josh.
"We'll leave you two alone," said Rachel, waggling her eyebrows. We left the room, and just as we got downstairs, the doorbell rang.
"Hey, guys!" said Chloe. Mark was right behind her.
We all made ourselves at home. Rachel and I were sitting in the two armchairs, and Mark was fiddling with his camera in the corner of the couch, while Chloe was sprawled out over the rest of it.
"When are you going to finish with your movie?" asked Rachel.
"I don't know," Mark answered. "I was thinking during summer, I would edit the footage and call it 'A Year in the Life of a Joyce Kilmer Middle Schooler: The 2010-11 Years.'"
"Kinda wordy," said Chloe, and she flicked on the TV. "Let's see if there's anything good on."
"Well, it's better than 'Mark's Seventh-Grade Year,' which is what my mom would call it."
"What are you going to do with it when you're done?" I asked.
"I don't know. Send it to MTV," Mark said.
The doorbell rang. I got up to get it. Liza and the twins came in and we all said hi. We settled down comfortably.
"What are we going to do?" asked Marilyn, flipping her hair over her shoulder. "I don't want to just sit here and watch TV all day."
"I have the solution to your problem," said a voice behind us. We whirled around to find Addie standing there, grinning.
"Um… what?" asked Chloe. "If this involves filming us or taking pictures that in any way could be sent to everyone in the world, I don't want to hear it."
"No," said Addie, and she held up a plastic box filled with huge, industry-size water guns. "Two words: water. Tag."
"OH MY GOD!" I shouted. "I LOVE that game! I can't believe you still have these!" I pulled the box out her hands and began handing the huge water guns to everyone. "It's like tag. Except everyone's it, and you just try to hit people with water."
(A/N: The guns do not have water in them yet.)
I surveyed the room. Liza was practicing the pump, Chloe was carefully inspecting her gun, Marilyn and Carolyn were having a sword battle with their guns, Rachel was practicing her aim, and Mark was looking at the engineering of the gun.
"Looks good," said Chloe. "I'm ready to go."
Suddenly, the doorbell rang again. I surveyed the room once more. "Everyone's here," I commented. "So who's that?"
I got up to answer the door, and… "Sam?"
She stood there, grinning. "Hello, mate!"
"You weren't supposed to come back from France until Sunday!" I said, hugging her.
"Yes, but there was supposedly a huge storm coming in, so they had us jetted off early," said Sam, walking in. Suddenly, she froze in her tracks. "What is she doing here?"
I bit my lower lip. I'd forgotten about how Addie had taken pictures of me and Sam with crazy makeup on a while ago. Evidently, Sam hadn't forgotten.
Addie pressed her lips together. I quickly took Sam to the side.
"Well, Addie and I used to be best friends, and then she and I got into a big fight and stuff at the beginning of the year, and then we were enemies, and then she and the Pops got into a huge fight, and she got kicked out, and she wants to be friends with me again, and she really seems genuine, and as Rachel pointed out, if she was planning to run back to the Pops, they'd never let her in their group again once she hung out with us, and now Felicia and Josh are upstairs in my bedroom having a date that I set up for them, and I invited everyone including Addie over to break the ice, except I didn't invite you, because you weren't here, and now Addie wants to play water tag with these huge guns and it's going to be so fun!" I took a deep breath.
"Okay," Sam simply said.
"Okay? That's it?"
"I think I looked awesome in that face paint, anyways. And I love water tag. I'm sooo hot." Sam turned back to the group and grabbed a giant water gun on the floor. "Let's play!"
Still Jenny POV
As soon as the group was done filling up their guns, we all spread out while counting to ten. Somewhere around my backyard, I heard a loud whistle, and the game was on.
Since there were so many of us, it was more of a crazy, no-boundaries, always-attacking, eat-or-be-eaten kind of thing than a sneaky thing. I would just be sneaking up on Chloe, when I would feel a cold spray of water in my back and turn around to find Liza running away from me. Then I would try to shoot both, getting shot more in the process.
I was resting on the patio after a particularly intense chase when Addie came up to me.
"What do you say we be in cahoots?" she said with a grin on her face. The grin was familiar, but in an old-familiar way, as though I couldn't quite grasp how it was familiar.
"Sure," I said.
"So here's the plan. I'll get in a fight with someone, then you sneak up behind them and start shooting them."
"So who were you thinking of?"
"The one who's gotten us the most."
"Ah…" I nodded. "I see. The One."
Addie nodded. "Meet you by the front of the house." She jumped up and ran off.
As I was sitting there, it struck me. I knew where the grin was from. It was the old Addie grin, the Addie before-the-Pops grin.
I got up and prepared for the huge battle. When I got to the side of the house, Rachel, Marilyn, and Carolyn were already there. As they heard me behind them, they whirled around, guns poised. When they saw it was me, they looked confused.
"Are you in cahoots with Addie, too?" Marilyn asked.
"Yup…" I said. "Oh! I get it! She's in cahoots with everybody except 'The One.'"
"You got it," said Carolyn.
We poked our heads around the wall to see Addie, mid-battle. She saw us and nodded slightly.
"Now's as good a time as any," said Marilyn.
Suddenly, we heard a loud voice from the other side of the house. "CHARGE!"
We all charged. I looked to see Chloe, Mark, and Sam behind Addie, ready to hit 'The One'—AKA, Liza.
That was basically the final battle scene. We were all trying to shoot Liza, since she'd already gotten us so much, but we were all so soaking wet it didn't even matter. Eventually, we all just collapsed on the ground and tried to catch our breaths. We all shot up the rest of the water in our guns into the air, wasting the rest. Mark shot his into his mouth.
"That was so fun," said Chloe.
I got up and opened the door. I knew better than to go inside, so I shouted, "MOM! CAN WE HAVE NINE TOWELS OUT HERE, PLEASE?" I glanced back at the tired people on the lawn. "AND NINE GLASSES OF WATER?"
Soon, we were all toweling off and drinking huge gulps of water. We got back inside and Rachel said, "Hey, I wonder how Felicia and Josh are doing?"
We got upstairs and opened the door to find just finishing the end of Despicable Me.
"Oh, really?" I said, turning to Rachel. "They're on a date, and you bring in a cartoon comedy?"
"Hey, I'm a comedian! Do you expect me to own anything else?"
We all laughed. "Mind if we join you?" I asked, and Felicia and Josh shook their heads. So we all sat down and watched Despicable Me.
I felt happy.
Whew! Now I want to have a water fight.
BTW, this is not the end of the story.
