We fight
We bicker
It's impossible
It's never been more wickeder.
If we could just see eye-to-eye
But then
I think I'd die
I couldn't stand
To look into your eyes
I couldn't resist
Pointing out every one of your lies.
I've never been more wickeder.
We tried to build a home
As people do
But the lies
Rose like a tome
And kept on mounting
Until we found
We'd paid our bills and built our walls
On phoney accounting.
We've never been more wickeder.
I reached for you
You reached for land
I couldn't grab onto
Your hand
I cried for you
But you didn't hear
To be honest, you didn't want to hear
I wasn't that person to you, anymore; I was less than dear.
You've never been more wickeder.
We fight
We bicker
It's impossible.
I can't believe we ever got off the ground
Okay, so maybe
I can believe
Clearheaded me
But not today
When everything's hazy
What's that sound?
Was that the sound of us
Smashing on the ground?
We fight
We bicker
It's impossible
It's never been more wickeder.
They never did
Pull us apart
We broke, of our own free will
And damn it!, if it didn't break my heart!
We fight
We bicker
It's impossible
It's never been more wickeder.
But I just need to know
You're still here
My ever-present foe
Look here
I'm no longer your shadow
Though I'm standing near
And you're no longer mine
Our shadows don't
Get along, but that's fine
As long as I can still
Look into your eyes
And remember
That your words weren't all lies.
