Chris got home and found Ellen packing her bags.
"Where are you going," he asked.
"Chris," Ellen said, "Kim was here. She's alive. I met her. Before I met her she wasn't a person. Well she was a person but she wasn't a person to me. Look, I had a child once and she died. Tam is the same age my child was when she died. I told Kim I was your cousin. She doesn't need to be hurt any more then she was. She, through no fault of her own has been locked out of your world for far too long. It's not fair to her and it's especially not fair to Tam. Someone has to be the big one here. It can't be Tam. It can't be Kim."
"Ellen," Chris said, "I love you"
"I know you do. You love me but you love Kim more. Look it's not like in the right place where there's room for everyone. I'm the one that is not needed. Look, Chris one day we'll be reunited. Kim and you wouldn't end up in the same world unless someone intervened. It has to be. It has to be"
Tears filled Chris's eyes as he hugged Ellen goodbye. They were both tears of grief and tears of joy. He lost Ellen who he loved in so many ways, but he now was reunited with Kim. She would be there any second. Finally he would be with Kim again. Finally he would know his family.
