The heavy rain showers made silence impossible as rain drops hit the window's like bricks, but he sat still, silent and in a daze, like nothing was bothering him.
"George!" Geoff shouted for the last time as he began to get impatient with him.
"What?" George said turning around from the direction of the window and looking up and Geoff who was standing over him.
"Have you filled out them sheets that I gave everyone?" Geoff asked.
"Yes Geoff and it's on your desk," George said turning away from Geoff and began gazing out of the window again.
"Is he ok?" Hi - Ho asked Adam who was watching Recall on the DreamCast.
"Is who ok?" Adam said not knowing what Hi - Ho was going on about.
"George... He looks..." Hi - Ho began.
"Fine... He looks fine," Adam began, "He looks like a love sick puppy and appart from that he's fine," Adam grinned, "Aren't ya George?"
"You what?" George said turning round.
"You're ok aren't ya, just thinking about Andie."
"Yer so what if I am?" George questioned.
"It doesn't matter mate, Hi - Ho was just asking me something were you Hi - Ho," Adam said elbowing Hi - Ho in the waist.
"Ow!" Hi - Ho yelped as he looked up at Adam who was mouthing for him to say 'yes'. "Yes," Hi - Ho said looking enthusiastically at George then looking at Adam with a confused face.
"Talking about love Hyper, how did you date go last night?" Adam asked grinning.
"Very well thanks," Hyper said looking up at Adam.
"Well... tell us all."
"Why are you suddenly interested?" Hyper asked.
"Just trying to make friendly conversation," Adam replied.
"Oh I get it, you haven't been out on a date for ages so you want to interfere with everyone elses relationships. Or if it's not that, it's because you are jealous of me," Hyper said grinning at Adam.
Adam was about to open his mouth just as the bells went off and they all got up off of their seats in the mess and ran down the stairs.
"Fire, at a warehouse on the Heathrow Industrial Estate. Person's reported inside," Sally said as the lads either came down the stairs or fireman's pole.
"Both," Sally said referring to the Appliances before Geoff had a chance to ask.
***** At The Fire Scene *****
It had finally stopped raining by the time they got there.
Geoff lept out of the appliance and was followed by the other members of the crew. "Recall BA Control. Rob, Sally and Adam you can go inside. Hi - Ho and George see if you can control these flames from the outside," Geoff ordered as they all ran round to get ready. Rob, Sally and Adam got rigged up to their BA's and entered the building while Hi - Ho and George attempted to put out the flames that were blasting through window's that were breaking from the heat impact of the fire.
"I've found a door!" Sally called out at Rob and Adam who were walking around the side of the building looking for a door that would open. The lock was broken open so the door opened without force. They all entered. They all walked close together searching vast areas in the building.
"I think I can see someone," Adam said to Sally and Hyper. They walked towards a corner of a room spotting a man lying on the floor.
"'Allo mate can you here me?" Adam answered as Hyper checking the man's pulse.
"He's got a pulse but he's not concious," Hyper announced, "I'm calling Geoff," Hyper said picking up his radio. "Geoff we've got a casulty,"
"Ok you can bring him out," Geoff said to Hyper. "The warehouse was closed the guy inside's an intruder. A whitness saw two people enter and one person leave once the building went up in flames. Shadbrook's just arrived to look around in case there's anymore casulty's."
"Ok Geoff, over," Hyper said turning to Adam and Sally, "We can take him out."
Hyper and Adam carried the man one holding his legs and one holding his arms while Sally lead them out. They finally reached the door and Adam and Hyper were greeted by paramedics who checked the patient over as he was layed on the floor.
"He's breathing but not fully concious," A paramedic called Clare said as she looked towards her colleague.
They both lifted him onto a back support them onto a gurney. "Ok lets bag him," the other paramedic called Jason. Jason bagged him as Clare examined the patient.
"There's about 80% third degree burns, and 20% second degree burn's, he's in a bad way Jas," Clare said looking worried.
"Take his BP then we'll get him to The Royal Infirmiry, it's the nearest hospital to here," Jason sadi to his colleague.
"Ok," Clare said looking daunted, as she took the blood pressure reading. "BP's low 100/40."
"ADAM!" Hyper yelled to Adam as she spotted petrol leaking from the ambulance, which was headed towards the fire that Hi - Ho and George along with some of the Shadbrook boys, were extinguishing.
"MOVE AWAY FROM THAT AMBULANCE!" Adam screamed to the paramedics. Jason moved quickly away along with the patient on the gurney and Clare was a bit slow on the spot. Adam ran towards her pushing her out of the way, just then the ambulance blew up into flames.
Adam brought his hand away from his face where he was sheilding himself and looked up, Geoff was barking orders and everyone was running around putting the flames out.
"Um... Thank you," Clare said to Adam, "If you hadn't pushed me out of the way I don't know what have had happened. I'd probably have ended up a crispy critter like my patient over there."
"That's ok, it's my duty," Adam said with a smile, "So where do pretty paramedics like you hang out when you're not driving around in the ambulance all day?" Adam asked.
"Wouldn't you like to know," Clare grinned.
By this time the fire had been controled and was nearly out, Hi - Ho overheard Adam's conversation and was laughing.
"Shut up Hi - Ho," Adam mouthed as Clare walked over to Jason and her patient. She picked up her mobile and called the hospital. "Hello this is Clare Thiessen, rig number 31, can I have back up please at the Heathrow industrial estate."
"Sure Clare, why what happened?" The voice asked.
"Is that Dr. Lowrey?" Clare asked.
"Yes," The doctor answered.
"Well you're never believe this, our rig only got blown up!"
The other ambulance arrived being driven by a paramedic called John and Dr. Lowrey rode along on a drive along. The patient left the scene still with a high BP count and the heart rate went tachy with a pulse over 105 beats per minute. The watch left the scene about an hour later after getting the fire completely out and clearing up the scene.
"Do you reckon she's playing hard to get?" Adam asked everyone in the appliance on the way home.
