Chapter Three

Shots missed: 1 =(

By the time I fell into bed it was one in the morning, far too late on a school night. I hadn't washed my fencing gear; Steffi was in fencing though, so if we walked in together, he could get me out of a demerit. Let's hope so anyway!

When I came outside after breakfast Steffi was waiting on my front steps as usual. His hair fell messily around his head; his tie was crooked (as always) and he was smiling up at me the way a puppy who wanted a pat would. Is it just me or does Steffi look more and more doos every day?

"Why good morning down there!" I pretended to yell all the way from my front door.

"Your majesty," We both laughed so hard at this I think it would count for half our fitness routine. It doesn't matter that 'your majesty' wasn't particularly funny.

I pulled my lucky cricket ball out of my pocket to start spinning it on my finger.

"So, how goes it?" I gestured to Steffi so that he would follow me and we could start walking to school.

"Not too bad. I had a bummer night sleep though," Sometimes you just have to nod and agree with Steffi; otherwise he'll suspect that you didn't understand a word he said.

"How about you?"

"Ugh, sleep was so close last night, I just had to finish some stats homework and I could go to bed. I ended up in bed at one in the morning. Four hours sleep is not so doos."

"Wow that sounds grim. I know, what are you doing after school today? We could go back to the basketball hoops?"

That would have been great, but I had a ton of homework to do and I was going to Fiorenzes' place.

"Sorry, can't. Maybe tomorrow night?"

"Terrific. I'll see you in fencing then." We had reached school and I was just about to yell for Steffi to wait up, but then I saw Ro and Fo. (He he he, Ro and Fo!) I waved my arms like mad and they came over.

"Hey Charlie! I can see you only snatched around ten minutes sleep last night!" Fiorenze is a funny girl isn't she. I just rolled my eyes and said;

"You have no idea; I went to bed at one last night. Four hours sleep."

"That's so benighted!" Rochelles input was short, but somehow made me feel better.

"Fo, I was wondering if I could go to your house tonight?" at this Fiorenze seemed as though she was going through a diary in her mind, then finally told me that was ok, as long as I could find my own way home.

The first bell went and Fiorenze ran off, leaving Rochelle and I to walk to tennis together.

"What was all that about?"

I have no clue what Ro was talking about.

"Sorry? What do you mean?"

"Why do you need to go to Fos' place tonight? I thought we were going shopping" I had completely forgotten about that, Rochelle was still looking for shoes to go with her dress.

"Oh, I am so sorry! You must think I'm the most malodorous person ever right now. Can we go tomorrow, or the day after? Something's up with my fairy." I don't like making people upset, I just seem so good at it. Pox, fairy dung, stupid, doxy fairies.

At least Rochelle didn't seem too upset; I think she's used to me having problem fairies by now.

"Ok, you will make it up to me though... right?"

"Of course I will! I pinkie promise," We touched pinkies then raced to the change rooms. So maybe my parking fairy was worse, but this fairy is still irritating!

I wasn't late for tennis, my whites were clean, but I still ended up with two demerits.

"Charlotte!"

"Yes coach?"

"Stop talking!" I think she needs here ears checked, no one but her was even making noise.

"Coach, I wasn't talking though"

"One demerit for lying! If you continue to talk, you can expect another demerit."

This was not going to be a good day. Vastly undoos.
