So, I think my writing style has gotten better since I last tried to do first person. I mean, I write using the character's personalities now. If you take a look at Make Mario A Star and this story, there's a big difference in narration. Anyways, I like writing this character (Teshi) because she's such a sarcastic moron sometimes.

My friend helped me make the story for this, so this story is dedicated to her.

I'm only gonna say this once: I don't own Death Note. However, I do own Teshi and Toku.

Story's based on Adventures In Kanto, a series of one-shots I write about the characters when I get bored.

Prologue: What To Do

"Toku, I'm bored!"

We were lying on the floor in our apartment. At least, I was. I was too lazy to get up and do anything, but I was still bored. My twin brother Toku was somewhere nearby, probably just sitting down. I don't know how he does that, honestly.

"Then get up, at least," he suggested. I didn't move. I was getting stiff from lying down for so long, but I didn't want to move. "Come on," he said. "Here, I'll help you up." A pale hand appeared in my line of sight, and I managed to reach for it. He pulled me up to a sitting position. I just sat there.

"Where's Dad?" I asked, glancing at the clock. "Usually, he's home by now."

"Really, Teshi?" Toku glared at me. "Do you watch the news at all?"

I shook my head. "Of course not! Unless I want to fall asleep, but otherwise, never!"

"Then you've never heard of the Kira case?"

I glared back at him. "You're the genius. I'm the idiot. You figure this one out."

He remained impassive (as always), but finally sighed and said, "So, there's someone in the Tokyo area, killing many people. But there's a catch. The victims are always convicted criminals, and they usually die of heart attacks—"

"And they're sure it's a serial killer?" I interrupted. "Maybe the criminals are…eating a lot of junk food or something!"

Toku rolled his eyes and replied with his catchphrase, "Not possible." He paced around for a while. "You see," he continued. "It's happened too often to be a coincidence. Besides, the victims have died in other ways. And remember, they're all criminals. I've seen many of them on the news."

"How do you kill with heart attacks? That's a health problem!" I thought Toku was overanalyzing it. I'm no genius, but even I know killing everyone with heart attacks is impossible.

My brother shook his head like he was my mom and I did something bad. "Well, that's part of the case. Nobody knows who the serial killer is or how they kill. They've got a task force working on it right now. They even got the greatest detective—"

"Yeah, whatever." I drew circles in the floor with my finger. "So, Toku, what do you want to do? I'm thinking of stuff we could do, but nothing's coming up! But don't say anything boring."

He sighed. "You know, last time you thought of things for us to do, we ended up breaking something, which is what Dad specifically instructed us not to do."

"Well, Dad's an idiot!" I retorted.

"And you aren't?"

Yeah, I'm just like my dad in terms of intelligence, I guess. And in a lot of other ways. At least, that's what a lot of other people I know, including Toku, say.

If I wasn't so lazy and bored, I would have gotten up and punched Toku in the face so hard he would hit the door. Instead, I decided to think of stuff we could do. Not that I wanted to hang around with that stuck-up know-it-all…

I leaped up; startling Toku and making him fall down. "I know!" I yelled, even though he was right next to me. "We should go dumpster diving!"

He frowned again. "I don't want to do that. Dumpster diving is unsanitary. Besides, Dad said I could go to the Kira Task Force HQ and see if I can help with the case since I am uncharacteristically smart for my age. Would you like to accompany me there?"

Honestly, I didn't even understand most of the things he said. "Yeah, sure, whatever. And then I'm gonna mess around in the city for a bit." I walked to the door and held it open for him.

"Suit yourself," he said, grabbing the keys from the drawer and following me out into the hall.

I don't know how obvious this is, but Toku's based on Auto from WALL-E. Well, I thought it was obvious, since he says "not possible" a lot and has red eyes.
