Bella's POV

I stood smiling as I stood at the podium. Jade and Gabe smiled at me " I would like to thank Dean Martin and my Lit teacher, Professor Banner. Let's give a big round of applause for our professors" The crowd of students and parents applauded along with myself. After the applause died, I wrapped up my speech. "So remember, not only are we classmates, and roommates we're also friends, and family. So congrats to my fellow graduates, good luck to our younger siblings in the crowd and last of all. Go Phoenixes!" The students whooped and cheered, I sat back in my chair and Jade nudged me with her elbow

"Good job Ms. Valedictorian" I giggled and smiled at her.

"You too Ms. Salutatorian" She smiled at me.

"We will now proceed with the graduation ceremonies" Dean Martin said in his baritone of a voice "Please hold your applause till the end"

"Valedictorian, Isabella Swan" I walked on stage as the crowd applauded anyway, I shook the Dean's hand smiled and walked off stage.

"Students please move your tassels from right to left" We all did "Congratulations Class of 2011!" With that we all threw our hats in the air. Jade, Gabe and I laughed as we collected our hats, I looked around for Alice, then I remembered Alice wasn't here anymore. She left with the Cullens at least, I think the Cullens left Chicago, I had no idea. Like I said, I hadn't heard from them.

I was grabbed around the waist from behind and spun around, I smiled and laughed at Jarred.

"Congraduations" I laughed as he kissed my nose.

"So cheesy but I love it!" He laughed as we walked through the parking lot.

"We noticed you've been down lately" Gabe said wrapping an arm around my shoulders. "What's up?"

"I just miss Alice" I said sadly "That's all"

I walked my mom to the door as my sister, brother in law, niece and dad walked out. She turned to me.

"I'm so proud of you Isabella" I smiled as she hugged me close, I wrapped my arms around her and closed my eyes, I was encased in the smell of her perfume.

"I know Mom, I know" I said with a smile.

"I just can't believe you're so grown up" She said pulling away and holding me out by my shoulders, I saw she had tears in her eyes. "That means I'm so old" We laughed together as she started crying.

"Mom…you're crying" She sniffed and wiped her tears with her palm. She looked back in my eyes and gave me a watery smile.

"Happy tears dear..happy tears" We hugged one more time.

"You have to come and see us this summer" She said as we pulled away for the last time.

"I promise Mom, I promise"

"Alright well, I have to go" I smiled at her.

"Make sure you call me when you guys land okay?"

"I will Bella, I love you"

"I love you too Mom" With that we exchanged a few more words and then she walked down the hallway, I didn't shut the door until I saw the elevator doors closed.

"Mommy" I heard a little voice behind me as I locked the door, I turned to see Gabriella standing there in her pink nightgown rubbing her eyes with her little fists.

"Gabriella, what are you doing up?" I said as she walked over to me.

"I couldn't sleep Mommy" I smiled at her as she held up her arms, I picked her up and settled her on my hip.

"Well it looked like you could sleep earlier when you fell asleep" I said as I started walking back towards her room. Jake trotted after us, I had taken in Edward's dog after he died. It was the least I could do, I had liked having another dog, and he's been good over the past 2 years. I opened Gabriella's bedroom door and stepped to the side, Jake trotted by us and jumped up on her bed. He settled himself at the end of the bed as I turned on the bedside lamp. I pulled the covers back and set Gabriella back in her bed, she got herself settled and looked at me.

"Can you sing me a lullaby?" I smiled at her as I tucked a curl behind her ear.

"Sure baby girl" I cleared my throat, I was a little rusty, I had to quit the band, I had to take care of my little girl.

'Lullaby and goodnight.

In the sky, stars are bright.

May the moons silvery beams, bring you sweet dreams.

Close your eyes now and rest'

Gabriella's eyes started drooping as I continued to sing and they finally closed after another minute or two. I sighed and tucked the blankets around her. She reminded me so much of Edward, every time I looked at her, my heart hurt more. She had bronze curls and hazel eyes, they went from green to brown depending on her mood. She had my pale skin and she was more advanced then any 2 year old I'd ever met. I kissed her forehead and flipped off the lamp.

Edward's POV

I smiled at Kate as I got off the plane.

"Bout time you came back Cullen" She said with a smile as I walked over to her with open arms.

"Oh Kate, I missed you" I squeezed her tightly when I said missed.

"Ok" She choked out "Now put down the mafia princess" I set her down with a chuckle.

"You don't order the mafia king around" She rolled her eyes.

"Not king yet my friend, now come on before the press realizes I'm not at the mayor's banquet" I smiled as she turned back towards the Rolls Royce, the driver opened our door for us and went to get my luggage.

"So, how are…..things?" I asked, awkwardly.

"Things have been…ok" She said oddly. "Nothing's been the same lately"

"I can tell, you seem I don't know kind of off"

"The press has been hounding your girl for quite some time now Edward" She said slapping a few newspapers on my lap. I filed through them and two separate headlines caught my eye.

'Cullen's girl widowed?' There was a picture of Bella with a little girl, amid flashing lights. The little girl had caught my attention more then anything, she had bronze girls and green eyes.

"No" I whispered "It's not possible"

"Obviously it is Edward, she's your's"

"No" I looked at Kate horror struck. "It's not possible Kate!"

"Edward please just accept the fact!" She looked at the newspaper in my lap and snatched it away.

"Kate. Give it back" She shook her head "Just give it to me"

"Fine, but don't blame me when you get pissed" She handed the newspaper back to me and I read the headline.

'Cullen's girl gets new boy'

I gripped the paper tightly in my fists.

"Who?" I growled lowly.

"Edward calm down"

"Who!" I snarled glaring at her. My nostrils were flaring and could feel the vein in my neck popping out.

"Jarred King" She said in a scared little voice "That's all I know about him"

"I can't believe this" I muttered to myself.
